I am a big KardecK fan and have backed these. I prefer their earlier decks to their more recent ones but I still like them.

I might be too strict here but nothing of the decks has to do with ukiyo and that is a nail in the coffin for me already since it's written on the tuck sides.
Besides that, I'm not to big on foil, foil, foil decks either but I can see that for fans, Legends will do a great job on the tuckbox.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

So says the unverified internet:

In its modern usage, the term ukiyo “The Floating World” refers more to a state of being: living in the moment, being detached from the bothers of life.

And so says the campaign marketing:

Experience the ethereal essence of UKIYO 浮世 (the floating world), presented in two captivating editions: the enigmatic YAMI 闇 (Darkness) and the radiant HIKARI 光 (Light).

How much that holds I leave to others interpretation - but it does seem the two sides are not “detached from the bothers of life” in their war to me, at least it did until I read this:

The term "ukiyo" in medieval Japan was associated with Buddhism and meant "this transient, unreliable world". When written as meaning "the floating world", is also an ironic, homophonous allusion to the earlier Buddhist term ukiyo (憂き世, "sorrowful world"), referring to the earthly plane of death and rebirth from which Buddhists sought release.
