Re: Eye of the Ocean | Part 2 - Stockholm17
While I like a deck theme, the fantasy stories are not for me - I am not into Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc etc
I am a big reader and book collector, just not fantasy
I have one of the EOTO part 1 as I love map decks and that will do me.
Of all my Lorenzo decks, I think I like my Ravn's best - I first and foremost buy decks for their backs

Re: Eye of the Ocean | Part 2 - Stockholm17
Auctioning a Windwatcher now is possibly a good idea. Most definitely a Patron. If someone missed the Windwatcher tier, then this is an option for them to pick one up. They just now feel the sting of missing out on the small public release. Given there are 750 that will be out there, they aren't insanely rare, but this is Lorenzo, so all bets are off.

That's the only reason I would've considered going for the tier, for an additional windwatcher perhaps, but I valued my sleep and conscience more.Bradius wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:22 pm Auctioning a Windwatcher now is possibly a good idea. I can just about remember the alphabet Lorenzo created for the Room17 puzzle (plus, I made a translation sheet at the time) and translated what is written, I assume, on the book; it's shown in the Kickstarter video at ~47 seconds in:
I seem to remember it spreading somewhere in the first Kickstarter, too; no doubt on the book.Intrepid souls embark seeking boundless horizons.

It is good that we are all different and can even love the same designer for different decks
I have both but I am a Backs man and I prefer Ravn over EOTO

Haha yeah, that is such a coincidence, or is it hehehee? Lorenzo did say that his decks are seperate worlds with bits of elements may connected to one another, and this might be that good example.Timmargh wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:12 pm I can just about remember the alphabet Lorenzo created for the Room17 puzzle (plus, I made a translation sheet at the time) and translated what is written, I assume, on the book; it's shown in the Kickstarter video at ~47 seconds in:

Well, this was a surprise! Did the poster really think Lorenzo uses AI?
(Posting it here for those who don't read updates or didn't back)
EDIT: DOH! How did I miss the earlier post? I actually thought I had caught up to it before posting!

I think the commenter connected TGW (who is using A.I. generated contents for youtube) to the project and took a leap of faith. TGW was talking about a customer who asked for refunds based on the sentiment above.

Re: Eye of the Ocean | Part 2 - Stockholm17
Not to derail this discussion about eoto2. But the irony is. This customer cancelled an order for goldsmith AND a pledge on BeetleBacks because I defended my use of ai anssisted images for YouTube thumbnails. Not because I used ai on card artwork. So it’s surprising my envolvement with Lorenzo wasn’t enough to trigger his ai radar. Considering his rather irrational response to extend my use of thumbnails.Disenchanted_11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 2:49 am I think the commenter connected TGW (who is using A.I. generated contents for youtube) to the project and took a leap of faith. Re: Eye of the Ocean | Part 2 - Stockholm17
I am not intending to sound like a smarty pants here, so please don't take it as snark -- rather, this is a generic, academic observation: if you think the price is too high, don't pay it.
Like, literally.
Here's the thing. Jackson Robinson at some point had his table players subscriptions set at a particular price point that was maybe reasonable if the art was more customized like his Club 13 decks, but many of us came to feel it was too high for only lightly-revised standard faces. So, many of us -- despite our collective preference to "collect the whole set!" -- reluctantly but resolvedly canceled our subscriptions to table players.
It was *not* a coordinated effort; it just happened naturally.
But, enough of us did it, KWP noticed, and they kinda looked at the business model, made some adjustments, and then lowered the prices for those subscriptions. As a result, they got many of (possibly even more than?) the lost subscribers back and made that subscription much stronger in the process. Speaking only for myself, I found the new prices reasonable enough to start subscribing to the gilded version, which I'd previously not done.
So, YMMV. But if enough people agree with you, the price will come down in the future. That said, I *suspect* the market will support this particular price point for this particular deck because this particular series (and this artist) has already earned a higher amount of praise from the community than other projects (and/or designers) that are similarly limited to the range of 700 decks.
As for me, I didn't look at the pricing of that particular tier (since I already have that particular deck, I only backed for the cards I wanted), but in general, I sympathize with the artist; if people are willing to pay more for his decks, I'd rather he collect that premium than some scalper. Again, YMMV.

Like, literally stopped reading after this part(not to sound snarky). That is common sense to not buy something if it is deemed overpriced and/or not a necessity. Whether it is me(who may or may not have purchased it) or someone else. I'm sorry if it offended you when I said it was expensive.

Re: Eye of the Ocean | Part 2 - Stockholm17
It's a clever stretch goal making it near a guarantee that once 300% is hit, it'll easily get to 400% from there.
A lot of gilding seems to slough off more than edge printing would, but it looks like we're on our way to achieving the former. I wonder if we'll see a 500% stretch goal emerge, say for the Claw or something else entirely.

The timing is even better, right when you hit that mid campaign lull, offer something that brings in some new $$$.
I’m really happy that though not dramatically different, this is a different deck from the others.

Another exciting addition. Also, we are closing in on the 400% goal, which is all decks being gilded. What is cool about this goal is that, unlike in the last campaign, we get the gilding at no additional cost. Of course no numbering, but oh well. I think that is really adding some nice value to the decks overall.

Re: Eye of the Ocean | Part 2 - Stockholm17
The addition of the Claw has made me consider changing from The Windwatcher (LTD) tier to The Chancellor tier (or Oracle). I love Lorenzo's design and as a collector, I am inclined to want The Windwatcher, but the face design is the same as the others and it is far beyond what I normally spend on a single deck. This addition widens the gap by 25 euros. I'll have to ponder this for a while longer.
After shuffling THE ODD FELLOWS MADAME LAVEAU for a while, I felt that the gilding peels off more easily than the Cartamundi and USPCC products (It may depend on the gilder?) I also felt that the cards are less slippery, perhaps because the edges of the gilding were damaging the surface. But I don't think I'm going to use EOTO2 cards very often, so if they look nice, so be it.
I wish he would make another version for patreons.Evilgamer wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 8:27 pmand sadly enough thats become a point of contention, some people want an ungilded option, others want to stick with painted vs gilded...it looks like that last question may result in a poll.Bradius wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 8:07 pm Another exciting addition. Re: Eye of the Ocean | Part 2 - Stockholm17
The Claw (€25, max 2)
The tuckbox is made of black paper, black foil, copper foil, embossing, and a cutout on the front showing a portion of the back design, matching shapes.
The faces shares the same illustrations of the figures, but the layout of the card is quite different, and the colors are altered a bit. I am planning to have foil application on the back design (copper) which is also has a new design.
ALL backers can add maximum 2 units no matter what reward tier they have. ... add a DECK: Fixed price at €25 no extra shipping costs.
The Chancellor: 1x Claw included
The Oracle: 1x Claw included + 1x Claw uncut sheet included
The Regent: 2x The Claw included
[these tiers can also add-on 2 decks like everyone else]
These are printed by WJPC, both cards and Tuckbox.
