Part of it is sparked by me wanting to get a NAS. There's a Ugreen NASync coming out on Kickstarter in March. It's a risk to trust a new NAS with proprietary OS, but for a newb like me, it seems like a good solution for a beginner. I am not techy, but I can self-teach and tend to be the one my family goes to for tech related stuff, so I've got that going for me![]()

Also, I absolutely wouldn't get a weird proprietary KS product as a NAS -- there are tons of free software options out there
