Treasury: Gold Standard, Yellow / Kin-dza-dza! by @oldproof [Vitaly Sinkevich]

Unread post by montenzi »

Hi UC,

Today, I received my copies in NZ and I LOVE this deck! Highly recommended! I will list 24 decks (all I have) on https://montenzi.nz tomorrow.

Designed by Vitaly Sinkevich https://www.instagram.com/oldproof/
Produced in China. By the way, it's not WJPC, but the quality is better in my opinion. The cards are thicker, but the handling is exceptional!
Shipping from USA (Gamblers) and NZ.

There will be a 2nd deck "Kin-dza-dza" (bridge size, 36 cards)

I'll be damned if there is an unknown printer with better quality than WJPC, with lots of projects I supported basically jumping ship to print with them.

I would agree with you 100% if it weren't Alex saying this. If the price is reasonable I'm going to try and grab one tomorrow. Jury's out..

Only 24 decks and sold locally to New Zealand only? I'll never get my hands on 1 of these decks!

It's not about finding a new printer. Almost any Chinese printer is capable of producing good quality cards.

24 decks with shipping from the USA, 3 decks with shipping from NZ. Kin-dza-dza decks - shipping from the USA.
It was possible to order such decks directly from Sinkevich, but due to sanctions, you cannot pay using Visa/Mastercard, and shipping to some countries is not available. That's why we decided to offer a limited number of decks on my site. My decks traveled 20,000 km before I finally received them in New Zealand.
Adamthinks wrote: Thu Feb 29, 2024 11:01 am What is the theme of this deck? Who are the people on the face cards?
Kings are historical figures who have made a significant impact on the history of playing card production in Russia. Queens are characters from banknotes that were in circulation for a short time in 1918-1919, mainly in the area beyond the Urals. Jacks are characters from the 1938 banknotes, except for the Jack of Hearts. The Jack of Hearts features a postman to commemorate the role of the postal service in distributing playing cards. The aces feature graphic elements from the rubles, threes, fives, and tens of 1910 and 1947. The jokers depict the signature cosmonaut of Cartbureau (Oldproof's brand) in a new setting.

Yeah, I've been eyeing and asking to obtain these decks from Oldproof for some time. A launch time would be helpful as I know I'm interested in both decks as well.

The first bridge size deck, 36 cards. Devoted to an old and popular Soviet sci-fi movie.
Montenzi, what is the film? :D

Kin-dza-dza! (Russian: Кин-дза-дза!) is a 1986 Soviet film released by the Mosfilm studio and directed by Georgiy Daneliya, with a story by Georgiy Daneliya and Revaz Gabriadze. It is a dystopian science-fiction black comedy, in which two male humans from Earth accidentally travel through space, meeting two aliens from the Kin-dza-dza star system and their post-apocalyptic world.

...

Thirty years after its original release, Little White Lies magazine described Kin-dza-dza! as "Mad Max meets Monty Python by way of Tarkovsky" and said it had remained relevant to audiences. Russia Beyond agreed that the film was still well-loved by Russians in 2016.

But what about you saying it's better than WJPC instead of just praising the printer itself?

Is it the printer KWP uses? This deck has similarities to Legal Tender decks.

I don't like the KWP printer/standard paper at all. But I like new KWP Legal Tender paper/foil. No, it's a different printer. The MOQ of Oldproof's printer is significantly higher than that of WJPC/Kingstar, but once again, it doesn't matter! Also, the Kin-Dza-Dza deck was printed on different paper, and the quality is not the same.

P.S. All discussions about printers are essentially pointless. You should start discussing the paper, not the printers. I personally hate WJPC's 310gsm paper from Germany. This is one of the reasons why I switched to Kingstar's 280gsm from Japan. They also offer the same 310gsm paper with the same quality printing and handling. However, the paper is subpar, so it doesn't matter who printed your deck; you will get the same questionable quality. It's not bad, but there are much better alternatives!

I would very much disagree with the printer not being important.

A companies ability to put a clear well centered (hopefully foiled) Image on a card is the most important thing I want in a deck.

I’m not going to play with them or make them fly through the air so “handling” very quickly has a low bar set for me. The stock needs to clearly show what’s printed on it.

(Yes I know others are huge into handling and thats ok with me)

When I talk about "printer" I mean the whole shebang. Paper, finish, etc. Soup to nuts. Good paper only gets you so far.

I'll reserve 3 of each and list 22 Treasury decks and 7 Kin-dza-dza decks. Yes, we only have 10 of Kin-dza-dza in USA.

The price is $19.95 and $14.95 + shipping

This sale is not about making money but about providing a service for collectors, as some of you have been asking about these decks.

p.s. I don't know how to limit the number of decks per order in Shopify  so let's see.

I’d be super interested in getting hold of one of the New Zealand based Treasury decks here in Sydney if that was possible. i’m nervous that someone will snatch them all up.

I have 5 unopened decks here and will list 3 of them. If there is a demand, I will send you one of mine. I'll also have one unopened Kin-dza-dza, but it will not be listed. Let me know if you need both. Thanks

Very kind, thank you.

I’ll shoot for one of the listed ones - but that certainly takes the pressure off.

Looks like I missed them. Will there be another opportunity?

I only want the one treasury deck because I love currency design decks. Even an opened box sample is fine. Doesn't need to be sealed. I'm not buying these for value, but the love of playing card artwork.
