Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think for a lenticular panel to work properly, you need two different images interlaced in alternating lines underneath. Otherwise, the panel just blurs the image underneath.

Maybe those panels can be used on a future project.

It’s an interlaced image with a lenticular lens on top. The interlacing combined with the lens is how you get the effect.

The end result really didn't look good, while you could say that samples should have been obtained and perhaps a change in direction made.

This wasn't discovered until the final tucks and fronts came in.

in the video, the panel does look quite poopy on the tuck. perhaps it is better in person. i think a good compromise would be to send them out with the decks and each backer can have them as an add on type thing and choose to put them on there if they like.

changes after campaigns are funded can be disappointing for sure. it seems in this case that the creator made a judgement call. given the video, i am pleased the call was to leave them on instead of just sticking them on there because that was what the campaign promised.

maybe samples were made to a specific quality and then the items didn't get made quite as well, maybe no samples were made at all. ideally, samples would have been made until the desired quality/effect was achieved and then the final product was made/remade until the initial quality was matched. not sure why this did not occur but i am not too disappointed that the panels will not be on the tuck.

It's not just you, not sure what's causing it

Pro tip, if you submit a post/comment and get a white screen, just go back once or twice and then refresh

I haven't seen anyone else post them so I figured I would take some pictures and post them after I had collected my initial thought on these.

In general its a competent first outing for a new producer, but it does show how much a more prepared approach can make the difference between a good and a great deck, this could have definitely benefitted from test printing/having prototypes rather than renders for the campaigns and revisions (or possibly not doing a specific variant).

I backed for the standard, gold, and holo editions

Tucks arent really my thing so these are...fine. The gold one does show an issue I was worried about since some of the "we're shipping" videos which is details being crushed to flat.

The standard deck is ''good to decent", a few of the cards are a bit dark but...honestly by biggest issue was a conscious decision, this is a triptych deck, but a white border was used for the actual faces.

The Gold gilded/foiled deck (soul collector)...actually came out pretty well on the faces. On the backs...again the details were completely crushed out in a lot of cases. This also happens sometimes on the faces, but other times, combination of basically greyscale and then gold really really works.

The Holo deck (holo base stock with the art printed on top rather than foiled like the gold deck)...I dunno this was definitely a risk, and it kind of works...(damning with faint praise Im afraid). Again like the gold deck but even worse, the backs are basically holo back with grey patterns, no details. The more limited color pallet does result in somewhat of a muted view of the art.

Thanks for sharing the photos. The green regular is clearly the best version. The gold is missing lots of detail and the holo even more so. That back design comparison is rough but good effort for a first time.

Im not a cardist, but I grabbed what I think everyone would agree is a "very good" wjpc deck, golden frogs (ungilded) and the basic handling feel about the same, these have a slicker varnish on them it feels like than the frogs. Fans fine, shuffles well.

The gold foil does make the handling slicker (less grip anywhere there is foil) and the holo version I want to say is a thinner stock, but it took shuffle force to really feel that and is also a touch slicker.

Ouch for foil. Reminds me about my main gripe with foil (and gilding); rarely enhances the design and is waaaaaaay too often used as a feature for the sake of selling more decks because people jump on foil and gilding. If you have not worked in print prior, always get samples of your product.

I definitely have learned so much from this project, mainly what not to do lol.

I personally love the holo deck because it came out exactly as i envisioned it. Ghostly and transparent looking. I wanted the card back details to be white, but you know that's not how printing works unless you're screenprinting or something like that lol.

Many mistakes along the way (albeit, mostly on shipping the damn things.) We have a literal LIST of things we won't be doing on our next go around that will improve on quality, care, and assurance.

If we decide to do fulfillment ourselves ever again, it will be so much less cumbersome.

Also, yes, Angelorum will have test prints and no foiling on the cards lol.

I will say Im a huge fan of foiling, but it needs to be used selectively and purposefully designed as an highlighting aspect like that 9 of clubs, I think that card REALLY works.

still wish Ritual was still next to be honest that more forboding art style is more my thing than what Angelorum is showing so far, but still curious to see the final designs.

You said you had to open the decks to put stickers over the PlaytheVillian stuff because of copyright infringement but it still says it on the side of the deck and one of the stickers you put on says PlaytheVillian.... sooo... I am very confused as to why that is.

There is way too much stuff for me to want to go through to verify this. The campaign had around 60 updates. I will offer the benefit of doubt and retract my statement if I was confused and apologize for any headaches. All the best to you.

Hello, I didn't back this campaign but I did pick up a normal green deck from the after market. However the deck I got was in a plastic baggie (similarly like some of Oath redemption stories packaging but lower quality) and the deck was in terrible condition with the seal torn open (No idea how the plastic bag is sealed what is this voodoo).

For context, I bought from this local seller multiple times and the decks I got were in perfect condition previously so this time when we met up I didn't really check in depth at that time until I got home. That's on me and my carelessness. Now before I go knocking on his door for some explanation, I did a quick ebay search and google search for the spirits deck and I've seen the green deck being shrink-wrapped tightly in plastic instead of the plastic baggie I got.

Sorry for the redundant story details, now the million dollar question is: Did anyone else receive the green deck in a plastic baggie as well in case there were multiple packaging forms for the green deck. I was part of the Patreon so I know he did have some difficulties with sending stuff out for spirits, I am still waiting on the Aphrodite heh.

It will be interesting to hear what you find out after you speak to the seller, for reading your post, it would seem a fair chance that your deck was once shrink-wrapped but possibly opened by your seller. I am guessing you have posted here first to garner any info that you can before confronting him/her

He did open and reseal all the decks I believe he had to put a sticker over the original name for legal reasons. But I couldn't find the decks in one of my at hand boxes to confirm that or look at the seal.

I want to say he opened some if not all the decks to confirm print quality, but I may be making that part up.

He has taken a step back as it appears his endeavors were much larger than he could handle for now. He feels guilty and embarrassed with the delays on his end for Spirits as there's still pending fulfillments that he needs to sort out. He did post an extensive update to the Spirits KS this week.

Hello everyone.

I understand your frustration. It has been over a year since the end date, and coming up on a year of the original delivery date.

I understand.

I have no updates as of right now.

My last update is still in relevancy.

I am still getting things packed, and unpacked, repacked, remembering something, unpacking, repacking, etc.

So many cogs in this machine are shifting at the same time as I plan my time as effectively as possiblpossible so I am able to get SPIRITS fulfilled without further issues arising.

I feel horrible, guilty, and ashamed that this project has devolved into this cataclysm of unprepared chaos.

I have not started another project, even though I have many up my sleeve, because I have always felt it was wrong when a creator moves on to their next project before their previous one(s) have been finalized.

I have taken a full sabatical from other creative endeavors in order to make SPIRITS my only priority.

I am honestly disgusted whenever I look at how long it has been.

I am hopeful that the remaining backer items will be shipped out before the year anniversary of the original delivery date (Feb).

I am very thankful that people have been so patient, and yes I do feel like a fraud when I see people who already have their order posting it.

I have nothing but the deepest gratitude for anyone and everyone who gave me a chance, and I hope to one day regain people good favor.

For now, however, SPIRITS is still an ongoing project for me and my family.

I hope you all have happy holidays, and a great New Years.

My next update will be when everything is packed up and ready to go.

Yes those responses are overly kind . Months go by with no updates or responding to comments. Project not turned out as expected and this shade. No lenticular panels on decks or compensation for them missing. All decks in ripping shrink wrap. Packaged so cheap that caused dent damage. Edit. I double check and he said socal will fulfill
