I have lots of thoughts about this IMO the site to emulate would be MusicBrainz -- the entire database is open, free, and downloadable. Also, importantly, it's separate from the images, which are technically copyrighted. MB solves this with a site called AlbumArtArchive, which is a joint project with the Internet Archive.kevork wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 1:29 am If it ever comes back online, some tech savvy people need to download it in some sort of database format. I'd happily download and store the entire archive somewhere. The 5mb picture limitations make me think it wouldn't be too huge of a download, with a lot of it being text data. By not too huge, I mean it could be in the realm of storeable for an average joe.
Part of it is sparked by me wanting to get a NAS. There's a Ugreen NASync coming out on Kickstarter in March. It's a risk to trust a new NAS with proprietary OS, but for a newb like me, it seems like a good solution for a beginner. I am not techy, but I can self-teach and tend to be the one my family goes to for tech related stuff, so I've got that going for me
Also, I absolutely wouldn't get a weird proprietary KS product as a NAS -- there are tons of free software options out there
