Re: Last person to post wins. . . . .
"Anaphora" has multiple meanings, and the more common one is the use of a repeated phrase throughout a poem or speech:
I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.' I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state, sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.I have a dream today.

Re: Last person to post wins. . . . .
Even more ironic that I always have to check misspelled because it feels wrong to me to write it with two s.
I appreciate the correction.
Edit: If you edit my post and trim the joke then at least trim the "jokes aside" part as well .

As always I'm not trying to be heavy-handed, and since this is General I'll open this up for discussion
The part of the comment I removed was roughly "I guess there's a bad history when people write ss "
My bad, sorry!Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 8:01 pm Edit: If you edit my post and trim the joke then at least trim the "jokes aside" part as well .

Re: Last person to post wins. . . . .
Sometimes I'm wondering if some in here don't get what dark humour is for:
I would assume that barely anyone in here has a clue about the political situation in Germany but in times where a right-wing (and not just a tad right-wing - we are talking a good chunk of them being actual neo-nazis*) party in Germany has quite a good chance to get a fifth (that's 20%) of the seats of the German Bundestag, I'd argue that we need more "tasteless" jokes about the nazi-regime instead of less.
There is quite a good amount of folks in Germany who think they're smarter than the Germans of '33 (that's when the Germans voted Hitler into power) and are convinced that this horrible shit show will never happen again. I'm not convinced. The masses are easily fooled and group dynamic is a bitch so, yah.
*like - and I'm not exaggorating here - these kinda neo-nazis that hold conferences where they discuss what should be done with foreigners!
Btw, I sincerely don't get what was tasteless about my joke. Is it the to me pretty obvious and sarcastic understatement of "bad times"? I found it quite poignant.
