You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

This are the cards I grew up with:

It would be cool to see somebody like Jackson picking these up as inspiration and makes some "Kingswild German Courts". Maybe even a whole Kingswild traditional courts series with French, Spanisch, Italian and other old court designs... would be nuts  :D

Have you seen Lotrek’s Dondorf Hundertjahrkarte restoration set? Pricey but fantastic.

Shameless plug detected :D ! Yah, I've seen them. Not exactly my cup of tea though, I kind of dig stuff like his Silk or Damask more than this historical reproduction.
The idea would be more like revamped standard playing cards, not high class reproductions. Like Jackson did with his lately designed "vintage standard" courts. Or like Lorenzo did with his Carte Doriche (although I would say they are closer to reproductions than to revamps).

This what you imagine when you say "cards" here in the Czech Republic:

I would really like to see Lorenzo's take on this deck. :)

I dream of a world where wars are fought only by having dance offs. I also dream that a Finnish playing card designer would exist. The former seems more likely to happend.

There were those "Bicycle Made" decks from 2015 by Crooked Kings which were quite nice, but Giovanni could do a Mafia deck better for sure.
I wouldn'd say no to another Mafia themed deck, and can NEVER say no to a deck by Giovanni :D

I would like to see a tastefully done Jack The Ripper deck. Forget the death and mutilation, just based on the mystery whodunnit side of the story. Maybe the victims (alive portraits) as the queens (I know there are five but two were killed on the same night so maybe they could share a card).

I just think there is a lot of scope here.

I’ve recently had two ideas that I think will be HUGE. One is a series, the other a stand-alone deck. Looking like you’ll all learn more later this year or early next year!

Love to see a deck themed around the biblical dynasty of David:
King Hearts—David
Queen Hearts—Abigail
Jack Hearts—Daniel

King Spades—Saul
Queen Spades—Michal
Jack Spades—Jonathan

King Diamonds—Solomon
Queen Diamonds—Bathsheba
Jack Diamonds—Nathan

King Clubs—Talmai (King of Geshur)
Queen Clubs—Machaah
Jack Clubs—Absalom
"I have no response to that."

I've gone ahead and created an Idea board using Räpylätassu's idea around this thread. Please feel free to add or update using the link below. You all can access anonymously (no login required) and able to add/edit the board intuitively.

It will be great hear from this wonderful community of passionate collectors. It will help me at least while I think other designers will also benefit from this idea board. This app (Mural) allows anonymous access (just start adding as an anonymous user) and fairly easy to add to the board.

PS: I used a few ideas from this thread to show as samples on the idea board above.

I tried to add but apparently you have to right click the board to add a not, which I cannot do on mobile. There was probably something I was overlooking.

Anyway, I would like to see more pirates or vikings and anything with lots of orange or copper.

I really have no idea if it's possible to get such inks on playing cards, or which temperatures are necessary for color change. But that would be awesome and opens a whole new world for magicians.

Greets Azid
I don't know about inks, but I know there've been thin thermochromic plastic strips (using embedded liquid crystals) for use as thermometers since the late 70s, so surely this could at least be done to plastic tucks. And maybe plastic cards, but you wouldn't want to flex them much and they probably wouldn't feel right, shuffling. (I also remember cardboard thermometer cards, but they had raised bumps for the liquid crystals, so coated paper is probably right out.) And I still have one thermochromic die from my college gaming days, that makes me think you could make a "dealer disc" (nonmetallic coin) as well.

Looking back through this thread, I see some of the ideas seem to have turned into real items. :)

I may be missing something here but I think that Alex Chin has already come up with the temperature sensitive, colour changing decks so the technology is definitely already out there.

Thermocromatic inks are definitely out there. Ondrej from Butterfly playing cards experimented with them for a reveal inside the tuckbox flap but wasn't satisfied with the results. I would say the best way to achieve real thermochromatic changes it is with foils, though.

Someone has already launched these type of cards. I actually backed it, but haven't gotten it yet from my shipping agent. Will share once I finally got it in my hands. Unless someone else who has already gotten it can do so.

Here's more info about the cards:
ThermoChrome Playing Cards are imbued with thermo-chromic technology to transform colors when they come in contact with your body heat!

Thermochromatic technology that allows the cards to change color around 78-82℉
To prevent players from marking cards or cheating they then return to their original color in less that 30 seconds so the next time you pick up the card it is good as new!

Note: It is important that cards are used at a normal room temperature to function properly. If the room is excessively hot or cold then the color change effects may not take effect.
Can't upload the gif from the KS site as it is too big. So you'll have to go to the KS site itself to see the video

This is not an 'artistic' wish like so many of the excellent suggestions already posted
This is a novelty request which I think could produce some wild rounds of poker.
According to Hochman they were made by Pepper Playing Cards in 1925 - maybe someone could bring them out for their 100yr anniversary next year
You don't have to use both sets of indices, they can be used as a normal deck by ignoring the bottom set
