Given the courts - or lack thereof - I'm going to let that train leave the station without me jumping on board.

Re: Fulton Street by fultonsplayingcards
I fell for this:
Fulton's Arcade is the ultimate homage to the 1980s--where coins reigned supreme and the drug of choice was 8-bits of adrenaline at your local arcade. Hair bands, Coke Slurpees, and a love of time travel--the 1980s inspired the dreams captured in this totally rad deck of playing cards.
I dare you to find all the 80s infused details designed into this deck. If you grew up with 80s video game culture--or are a retro gamer today that sadly missed the greatest era--this deck is for you.
And since then I have found his decks far too standard and his descriptions far too flowery

Re: Fulton Street by fultonsplayingcards
Haha, indeed. Far too flowery is spot on. A common trope within the card community unfortunately though. I don't know it Fulton and the Buck Twins started that overselling/-hyping/-marketing stuff thingy in the card world but they certainly are at the top of it.

Not to mention, that Fulton Arcadeβs Ace of Spades and Jokers are really questionable - if you know, you knowGandalfPC wrote: βWed Oct 26, 2022 5:59 pm I fell for this:

Still this Fulton Street is quite interesting, not gonna lie
Hopefully it made it to AoP website, or just hoard it from the main one

i own no fulton decks and whatever this is is definitely not going to change that. i could go on but why bother. that post would probably take longer to type out that it takes to design a fulton deck.

In the end I couldnβt manage to make the purchase - $36 for two packs, plus $11 shipping? Nope. Not this time, not for these.
Iβll pick them up via trade at some point, or not.

I decided to pass for now too. A couple of years ago, I would have jumped. Now, I feel rather "meh". Maybe a later time. There are too many other releases coming out I like more. Checking the forums reminded me that the 'Escape Velocity' KS drops tomorrow - definitely picking up some of those

CHOOSE YOUR LINE New Yorkers buckle up. I gilded a VERY LIMITED number of the acclaimed βFulton Street 1972β β each complete with a special seal exclusive to the gilded version. Each one is color matched to the line it represents.
The βVignelli Red 1 Lineβ is limited to only 5. The other four are limited to 20 each-making this one of the most exclusive sets ever made.
Come see them NEW YEARS DAY 11AM Central. Striking I tell ya!

Re: Fulton Street by Fultons Playing Cards
These came out a few months ago but were never posted
FULTON STREET 1958 EDITION PLAYING CARDS, $18.00
The 1958 New York Subway Map began the modern era of a concise graphic system for the New York Subway System. George Salomon was so frustrated by the lack of a cohesive identity system as he traversed the subways that he proposed a way to organize the signage and maps. This deck of playing cards celebrates the monumental 1958 Subway Map designed by Salomon--which in turn inspired the creation of the iconic Vignelli Map in 1972.
This deck of playing cards is officially licensed by the MTA in New York. It is completely custom--using graphics created by Salomon as well as face and ad cards designed by Brad Fulton based on "Out of the Labyrinth", the manifesto proposed by Salomon to beautify the NYC Subway System.
56 Playing Cards
Printed by WJPC in China on Cardistry Stock.
Embossed tuck box on premium matte paper.

hsbc's 2nd close up of the back, illustrates what is wrong with this popular card stock which seems to be the go-to nowadays. At an angle everything appears to be cross-hatched

Re: Fulton Street by Fultons Playing Cards
I actually don't mind the air-cushion finish at all, both in looks and functionality. I have a stronger reaction to Cartamundi's B9 slimline, which makes certain heavily foiled decks, like 'The Successor", look awful in certain angles/lighting. My eyes tend to see air-cushion as little squares imprinted to mimic the same principle as a golf ball and its indents. With Cartamundi's, I see that more as the cross-hatching you mention, where grooves were made in the stock. I find that more jarring.
The only time I despise this finish is when it ruins the effect hot foiling would have as opposed to smooth stock. A great example of this is Lotrek's recent Patrons Test Print #2 aka Redemption VI. Had he used smooth stock, it would be an incredible sheen of foiling with near-perfect to perfect registration (as Lotrek has shown he is capable of achieving). To try to push the limitations presented by playing card stock is admirable for any printer.

USPCC can do smooth finish decks btw. J&T's Victory being the latest example. But they seem to be unpopular overall.

Re: Fulton Street by Fultons Playing Cards
Despite some reservations I have been tempted to pick this deck up (on special) for the back but I think it is actually the tuck that I prefer
The name Fulton Street playing cards on the pic should be detrimental to the pic but I like them on the tuck pic - maybe they feel appropriate to a railway station where you expect signage. The matt finish of the tuck also looks good
