Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
It's not that big of a deal to get the wrong numbers, but for the amount we're paying for Patreon it's also not a big ask. When I had a kwp gilded sub, I never got the wrong number. I am a jocu sub too, and I get the right numbers always. The less expensive subscriptions can do it right, this one should also be able to.
I'm wondering though, we're still supposed to get a royal silk patrons edition deck? I thought these packages would have all the year 1 stuff but I guess that year 1 stuff is still coming in the future?

Yes, the following rewards have not yet shipped. We haven't had an update in a while. Last estimate was Year 1 end of September and Year 2 in October. Perhaps these have been pushed further.
Year 1 Patreon Rewards

The matching numbers thing wouldn't be a big hastle if Lotrék would manage everything by himself but due to switching fulfillers there're more factors in the equation.
I for my part have him rather focus on fulfilling the 3 year rewards than loosing sleep over matching numbers.

I gave Lotrek Henry's (socalplayingcards) contact information but he hasn't read the message yet. I also told Henry to reach out to Lotrek, but that would be a first for him since it's usually the other way around, with people reaching out to him to fulfill their orders. He handles Jocu's Inner Circle perfectly and is very responsive.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 9:46 am The matching numbers thing wouldn't be a big hastle if Lotrék would manage everything by himself but due to switching fulfillers there're more factors in the equation.

GW gets decks and then sits on them for who knows how long (somewhat understandable when they want to ship in bulk), sends delayed tracking info, and messes up orders. Deallez seems to be similar. Taking a look at GW's website is indicative of how backwards they still are and yet somehow still get business.
I was thinking of upping a tier this year but with the horrible shipping and no indication whatsoever of what Year 3 rewards entail, I am hesitant. The cost per deck is high and I've had to become very mindful of my spending. I don't like to spare expense when it comes to Lotrek, which is why I don't like being in this state of hesitation when the list of cons increases.

From what I have seen come out of GW, the shipping issues aren't with GW themselves its with the aggregator they use, yes I had them sit on a box with $200 of cards in it for a week before it left Texas.

My understanding was they pile a bunch of packages up and then hand it to OSM Worldwide, who is the middleman https://www.osmworldwide.com/
Is there really any benefit to using them specifically versus Henry, for example?

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
Its cost, OSM does the job that is profitable for them, running nearly full trucks between their facilities only when they need to, and dropping off full trucks/pallets of pre-sorted mail to a USPS facility close to where it needs to go, letting the USPS do the more expensive "last mile" part of the delivery. USPS doesn't have to do the long haul transfer, had to go to that house every day anyway by law and really likes pre-sorted mail so they dont change OSM much to do the delivery part.
VS with a shipper dropping off straight to USPS/Fedex/UPS etc, and the carrier sending whatever is there to be moved every day regardless of volume, this results in a LOT more lower loads on trucks and a lot more times something has to be sorted so its more expensive.
Think of how much cheaper flying would be if you just told Delta you wanted to go to a smaller airport sometime after Monday and they could just get back to you with when they actually felt like flying there and you showed up and it was a economy only 747 with 600 other people.

As much as it is a job, he genuinely seems to enjoy it and has created so many connections and a valuable place in the community. I imagine that feels really rewarding and fulfilling. At this point I'm also sure he's learned how to work smarter, not harder. He runs and seems to take care of himself, which also must go a long way too. Truly impressed by all that he does.

I manually pay my patreon charges every month and this time, there was some bug on patreon that did not allow me to take from my paypal balance then take the remainder from my card so I had to go through a hassle to rebind my cards and I think I updated my payment information to do so. Does it auto change to the higher rate when you update the payment info?CourtCurator wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 6:12 pm

Yes, any time you make a change that leads you to the Patreon checkout page, you will be agreeing to pay the current price book exchange rate to proceed. I would keep an eye on the pricing and re-select your tier if they adjust the rate in your favor.krystalie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 3:21 amI manually pay my patreon charges every month and this time, there was some bug on patreon that did not allow me to take from my paypal balance then take the remainder from my card so I had to go through a hassle to rebind my cards and I think I updated my payment information to do so. Agreed. I'm genuinely shocked by the lack of communication regarding year 3 rewards in the entire span of the 12 months of patronage. Over the last month, it looks like the number of patrons continues to stay at 238, indicating low confidence, perhaps even disinterest from many collectors, but those who are in it are still showing loyalty. I've talked to a few people who are actually worried that if they stop their patronage, they might not get their rewards. The recent shipping fiasco didn't help either.CourtCurator wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 4:49 pm Not gonna lie, seeing this email before an announcement describing third year rewards is a bit off putting, even for someone as committed and patient as myself.
This pains me given the Lotrek fanatic that I am.
That part is listed in Patreon itself in the tier list.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
I am not thinking about quitting, but I do worry about this for others. Especially because of the weird way in which the tiers are locked. The fact that when someone leaves mid-cycle a vacancy is created that can be filled by a new patron is concerning to me. It leads me to wonder if the person replacing the old patron is assuming their Patron # and assigned rewards? Don’t most other Creators lock the tiers in a way that prevents any additions during the lock period, regardless of any defectors? Even if Lotrek has successfully kept good track of who gets what, he has made it unnecessarily complicated by the fact that new patrons can replace people who quit mid-cycle.
It is also curios to me that those who are still waiting on their rewards, but have since moved on, did not receive the redemption decks. That doesn’t seem right to me, and brings more questions as to whether he has kept track of all the people who have come and gone. I would not be surprised if those who have left, but are still due rewards have to make some noise in order to get their rewards.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
I do feel for Lotrek. He pretty much would have had Royal Silk completed long ago if it weren't for the issues he identified with his test prints. If he decides to attempt another deck with so many printing plates, perhaps it should be a deck he attempts in the background while churning out his promised rewards.
So far his estimate is first two years rewards out in September, with year 3 rewards in October. Redemption decks will have ended after that point.
Some outstanding questions I do have:
So far his estimate is first two years rewards out in September, with year 3 rewards in October. Redemption decks will have ended after that point.
Some outstanding questions I do have:
- What's the difference between the Patrons deck and Royal Patrons deck between Year 1 and 2? We haven't seen any pictures except the Patrons test print released in 2022.
- What will the Year 3 rewards be? Why hasn't there been any light shed on these? I certainly hope they won't be recolors of old decks, unless it's the fabled Damask 2.0.
- If the current reward timeline is not met, will the Redemption series continue? With Year 3 rewards being overdue after October, will we also be getting one free Redemption deck, the same treatment BOTH year 1 and 2 got? Hopefully it won't come to that and all years will get their rewards.
- What's the updated timeline on Codex?
My understanding is the way he checks is to see if the individual has made the 12 monthly payments for that year or an annual payment that covers the months of that year's term. I joined in Year 2 midway (May 2022) with the understanding that I am not eligible for any year 2 patreon rewards.CourtCurator wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 5:49 pm The fact that when someone leaves mid-cycle a vacancy is created that can be filled by a new patron is concerning to me. I think we can count on this being optimistic. As for the redemption decks, didn’t he promise one per month? We are on #6, and it has been a year. Does that mean there will be a minimum of 6 more to come?

I am honestly tempted to end my Asylum tier. This will be the beginning of my 4th year and I still have not gotten Year 1 rewards yet, not to mention Year 2 and having no idea what reward for Year 3 is. What is the latest on the shipping of Year 1 and 2?? As far as I know, there has been no update recently.
To date, I have paid over $3,175 and have no reward decks to show for it at this point. Of course, I have received some Redemption decks. This does not include the hundreds of dollars I overpaid that disappeared. Thinking about that amount of money floors me that I continue to pay. I love his works but wow.
