Bicycle Red Plastic Cup

Unread post by chach »

I was purchasing a deck or two of the new Bicycle Sideshow cards today and as I was browsing I saw these listed all the way down the bottom. Hadn't seen anything about them here so I thought I'd let you all know, please forgive me if this is a repost.

Red Plastic Cup
by Bicycle

You’ve sipped from it at fine events, drank iced tea from it at backyard barbecues, washed down the church pot luck dinner with soda from it, and probably even guzzled Kool-Aid from it in your youth. You can find them in many colors but none say social get-together like red.

Bicycle® Red Plastic Cup playing cards will be the perfect deck for your summer festivities.

Made in the USA.

Yes there was a topic for this deck already but it has changed from the original prototype. This deck should be in as well by the end of the week or the beginning of next.

Thanks!

Nah not for me. I like the blue cups.

With the Cigar deck out(which is my favorite deck of the year by far though I hate smoking), I knew they'll release a drink related deck though this was announced early in the year.

From what i can see above... which isn't much... this is nowhere near as interesting as the Cigar deck. I really like that one as well.

If they would've made a deck with a liquor or champagne label, it'll do numbers.

I feel like they could have done more with this deck. The courts should all be holding/ drinking cups. Maybe the heart or diamond pips should be replaced with cups... IDK. Just something else.

They could release a Blue Cup deck just by changing the color of the cups. Sort of "Blue Crown-ish". I wonder if they just had some old red ink sitting around that they had to either use up or throw away. Or was the USPCC breaking in a new graphics artist and giving him an easy project to get to know the process? By the way, I ordered a pair of these because I thought they were a giggle. Quite fun if you are trying to impress someone at a frat party. Or other party where people are wasted.

Where were you shopping when you found these? What other sites other than Bmpokerworld are good to shop?

Apologies if this is old news. I ordered some decks from Bicycle's Spring Cleaning Sale, including this one. I just got the package, and the front of the tuck now says "Red Party Cup," not "Red Plastic Cup."

The picture on Bicycle's site definitely still says "Plastic," as does the entry for the deck on Portfolio 52.

Anybody know when or why this change was made? I can't imagine why they'd suddenly find "plastic" to be a problematic word.

ETA: Never mind. Just read the comments on the Bicycle site, where somebody else asked about this and was told that the name was changed for Walmart.

My first thought was that people might think the cards were plastic.
