Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
Lotrek is compelled to innovate and experiment. I can't see that changing. It isn't just about trying different papers and such, it is so much more. As such, some ideas will be very difficult to realize. I have a feeling though, that he tends to just double down on challenges until he succeeds.
I am okay with delays given the results that come out of his workshop. If you love his stuff and want to get them directly, you will have to play the long game with Lotrek. I must say I will be sad to see the Redemption decks go away, but if that means my Patreon rewards arrive, then that is good too.

An old ex of mine was super crafty and would make her own paper. Sometimes out of dryer lint. Let's see Lotrek do that and foil it. With long delays as we wait for him to dry more clothes.

Since you've received Redemption V, is that the final print of Royal Silk Purple as well? What's the print run on this one?

Canada here, haven't received anything, but going by my usual Lotrek timeline...
Usually takes about 6 weeks +/- a week to reach me. So either next week or the week after. And I almost never get tracking lol

Hmm Canada, Piazza. What if domestic mail is as slow as mail going international from Canada. Am awaiting my 3rd Canadian order (all different suppliers) and once again it appears it will be well over 2 months from date sent. Canada is my nomination for worst mail service in the worldPiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 4:25 pm Canada here, haven't received anything, but going by my usual Lotrek timeline...

Lol well I've never had the experience of receiving anything internationally from Canada. Before I got my shit together (a story for another time), I used to work for a parcel delivery service and I like to think we did a fantastic job. Domestic shipping typically works just fine around these parts, although I'm in a big city sooo... who knows?Honeybee wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 6:45 pmHmm Canada, Piazza. The real problem stems from the innate politeness of the Canadian people. When they hand off the packages at the border they like to take the time to get to know it before it leaves the country.

And here I was thinking the package Curt sent me had his lipstick on it from when he bid the parcel adieu. Little did I know, it was Canada Post getting all too familiar with my package. They did handle my package with love and care, which left me feeling fulfilled in the end.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
Got mine today. Did open the Royal Silk... very thin stock and not really close to the handling that I learned to appreciate with Lotrék's latest releases. Still beautiful cards but... dunno if it's because the OG Silk blew me away back then but seeing that quite some years passed, I don't see a huge improvement for the deck itself. Pretty 50/50 experience for me personally.

I am often in a rush to secure a purchase but almost never in a rush to receive - that being said, I do remember when that was not the case and appreciate that others demand timely delivery.
And that being said, I don’t see any realistic expectation of timeliness from Lotrek without him starting on the path to becoming Theory 11

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to timelines. I'm even opposed to next day delivery or alike stuff.
But Lotrék's timelines are, paired with my personal lack of blownawayness by his latest releases, the reason that I cancelled my Patreon support. The later being the main reason but having no first year reward after three years of constant financial support is certainly the nail in the coffin for me personally.

I totally get where you are coming from Harvonsgard. I am still of course all in with Lotrek, even if Royal Silk doesn't hold up to my expectations.
What has intrigued me about Lotrek's decks over the years are some decks that had a lackluster first impression and later became hits with collectors:

- Grotesk - Well, my first impression (at least) was that I didn't like them and passed on that first and second campaign because the style just didn't interest me.
- Arabesque Error - I remember it not selling out fast, even though they were on sale for half the cost (enough said)
- Damask - Some early comments was that it was too flashy and busy. I was kind of a bit miffed it turned into two versions TBH.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
I guess if I only were into cards, I would continue to support Lotrék on Patreon but I can still grab decks from him outside of Patreon so, there is that. It's just that Fable was the last deck where I felt that oh so special Lotrék tingle. Crypt was outstanding with the foil work but the rest of the deck was a letdown imho. His recent works being iterations of his former masterpieces doesn't help I guess. Maybe the master spoiled me too much with amazement in the past and has become a victim of the undoubtably high bar he has raised.

I can't wait to compare the test prints to the officials, it better be obvious differences.

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
I recall him mentioning some of the hot foil imprinting could bleed to the other side of the test print cards due to the stock used, resulting in extra pressure needed for hot foil impressions. Thankfully none of my opened test prints exhibited this issue. I expect the stock to be slightly different with the final version.
What he also did catch, was this particular error that made Royal Silk have one of the most expensive proofs of any deck created. It's incredibly difficult and time consuming to perfectly align so many plates. Glad he was able to recoup some costs with the test prints to continue to invest in brining the final version to light.
I was not a collector when Royal Silk was available for preorder but I'm now seeing them pop up in more people's hands. Looking forward to comparing myself too but hopefully someone can show us any and all differences.

Can do but it's pretty dark currently here so, no daylight pics. Therefore take the pics with a grain of salt. Final is left (tuck with embossing) and test is right:

Re: OATH'S PATREON -details
Not to be the barer of bad news but final has actually a stronger bleed than test:
On the posotive side we have that the silk effect is very nice in person. The cards do sell a fabric like impression very well. Foilage on the test is heavier.
Apologies for not being @hsbc, haha.

Thanks

Thanks for sharing those side-by-side photos Harvonsgard. From what I see from them, I do like the improvements in the final version. It does look better, even if there is some more bleed. I always consider Lotrek's work to be progressive, with different improvements in his technique over time. I think that is one reason that I like his work so much. You can see his printing skill evolve over time. Honestly, I am pleased with the results you have shown.
