i really like the viking theme and aesthetic. i was very interested when i saw the tuck above. however, after viewing the campaign, this deck does not resonate with me at all. it feels like the back and aces are too elegant and intricate and the courts are too simple. i expect the viking style to be more rugged and tough. the backs look like they are from a fancy castle or manor. the opposing heads for the courts have a middle school art class level. the court halves being separated by a banner is a no for me in almost every instance, not just this deck. i could dig the elegant art style of the backs if the courts matched i think.

on a positive note, the tuck design looks nice and the colors look really good for it.

This really misses on "Viking" to me. It comes across as more Victorian than anything - especially with that powder blue color on the back design. And the courts just don't do enough at all. They're...empty. Larger faces, more pops of color, etc...just needs a lot more to feel complete. They come across as VERY hastily sketched rather than a finished product.

Miss on many fronts for me - shame. Viking theme is one of the ones that will always get a look from me. But this deck isn't the one.

Whenever I see a "viking" themed deck that features the vegvisir - a symbol that was created way past the viking age in Iceland - I can't help but discard it anyways. Like above mentioned, neither the courts nor the back help to sell viking to me or are on a level that could chime me in for the deck art alone.

As much as I say I love mythology, I appreciate those who have a vast knowledge of the lore who can enlighten me on what's accurate and what's not. The back design reminds me of something I'd see in the Palace of Versailles, and the courts just aren't doing it for me.

Yah, whenever you see a vegvisir, horned or feathered helmets - run. Run as fast as possible, haha.

I don't have a problem at all with fantasy like Jody's exceptionally great Luminosity or the follow-up Umbra but if you wanna sell a certain topic then stay accurate imho.
