I'll start by saying that I have backed and really like this project and other Gentleman Wake projects. My problem is my fatal flaw to have a complete set. With the "surprise" add-ons at extremely high prices, these GW projects are killers. I've dropped out of a few GW projects because of this. More power to you if you can upsell but based on comments, this seems to bother others. I'm going to try to stay strong and hold on to my basic tier.

I thought I was losing my marbles as I searched "The Groundskeeper" on Kickstarter … couldn't find it*. Then I looked under Omar's created campaigns … nope. It wasn't until I searched "Wyrmwood" that I found it.

* Searching for "Groundskeeper," ie. without the "the," gets a hit.

This is fairly on brand for TGW. That being said, I think one of the healthiest things in this hobby is being okay not having a whole set and just the decks you like best.

Very true. When I started in 2020 I bought everything that looked somewhat attractive. After a while my taste settled in and I'm now far more discerning. Still the need to complete sets is nagging on me. However I've managed to lock it down to a couple designers I have (almost) complete collections of (Jocu and Thirdway). I always get the entire lineup from them but for the rest I've restrained it to "best deck of a campaign/lineup". It's partly time and a more defined sense of what I want to achieve as a collector but also increased external pressure. When everything around you jumps 10% hobbies just have to take a backseat.

The problem lies when creators try to maximize profits at $85/$150 (signed) deck on a 400k raised project

I made that decision recently, to only have the particular deck I liked and not the entire set. It's cut(ting) my collection by around 2/3 and has decimated my entirely complete (except for Delirium Signature) Thirdway collection. Still, it has reduced my FOMO significantly.

That only works when the only deck you like isn't locked away behind a pricey sarcophagus. I'm not backing these, but hopefully people who want the prism deck are able to get it without pledging $600 or whatever

This is a whole different problem entirely and one that I am not supportive of. Just trying to cover all the other replies, FOMO is a real thing and like Timmargh I have also reduced my collection to only those decks I like best. It's been a challenge but certainly feels like a bit of a weight off my shoulders. I am still guilty of trying to get everything (like S17) for example but even that I have pulled back on. One step at a time.

Prismatic Groundskeepr is available to add on by any tier. Wether it’s $20 tier or $5k

Barring any politics, etc. I just want to point out that Omar ran another tremendously successful campaign. Fair to say the brand continues to establish itself. I''m really curious how the final prints will look and if it'll sway me towards a prismatic version. I opted for just the green Luxury edition this campaign for now as I could not justify the price for the holo foil.

Thanks Kevork!

I will say that this campaign is incredibly important for the TGW brand because it pushed our brand recognition beyond the normal range. My arrangement with WW obviously dictates that my portion of revenue is substantially less than it would be on a purely TGW campaign. Obviously WW assumed the financial risks--which were substantial--and fulfillment responsibilities --although I am assuredly very concerned with making sure the latter is a smooth process. Regardless of this, I count this project squarely among the TGW deck cannon. I had as much, if not more, input on the direction, creative and development of Groundskeeper than I've had on any campaign to date. To that end, this campaign was massive by TGW standards and merely 'decent' by Wyrmwood's. lol. Wyrmwood remains very happy with the turn out and we are well into the process on the next cards campaign, The Corrupted, slated for halloween. You should be seeing stuff soon!

Oooh. Given the timing, I'm guessing The Corrupted will end up being produced by WJPC also. That deck is my most anticipated of the ones you've shows details of so far. Given the level of detail on those and the level of foiling, I'm even more excited for these now. I was previously a little concerned that the Cartamundi foiling would obscure some of the fine details on the cards.

Hello everyone,

I apologize, but after consulting with the web team, we're going to be pushing back the pledge manager launch one last time. We hit some technical snags, and while they're not major, they are going to require some time to fix, and then test to verify the fixes are good. We expect to complete most of the work today and run through testing tomorrow morning. Ideally, everything is good to go at that point, but we can't rule out a bit of additional work after that.

Having said all that, our rollout is scheduled presently for this Friday, to be safe. An early launch tomorrow is possible, if everything goes great today and tomorrow, but I don't want to promise that and be sending another update like this one! So, we're planning for Friday, September 22nd.
This pledge manager gimmick has been delayed three times now... They sent out a very long update the other day and mentioned "Wednesday" like a hundred times and yet here we are.

I thought they have used this system in all of their projects before?

The pledge manager is coming. Please be patient. I’ve been told the reason for the delay is related to integrating European friendly fulfillment into the back end. Which is something they’ve never offered before. It’s causing some issues. But it’s being worked on.

Patience is not a problem, we're going to need a lot of it on these projects
But thorough details like this is essential to keep the peace. Thanks Omar!

They haven't used it on all their projects before. Most WW kickstarters have used backer kit, this may be the first one of the non-furniture ones to use it.

They started trying to move to the web site starting with their large furniture kickstarters last year and if you think this is bad, try being one of their desk backers (a $2M kickstarter they canceled after about a week because they set the fund level at $3M and then moved to selling it on their web site instead). All we heard for 6 months was how they were working on the site so we could actually place our final orders, and it ended up being used first for their pet project the MGT (which went to KS 4 months later) before they modified it for the desk.

WW cant get out of their own way at times. hell they were showing WJPC foil sample books on their videos this week, I would have thought that would have been set for both Groundskeeper and Corrupted already.

Yeah guys lets keep perspective. By all means, feel free to express whatever, but recall that a lot of us have as a primary gripe a lack of communication. Wyrmwood and Omar don't have that issue at all.

Oh I'd sound 10X saltier if I didnt know what was going on.

They do provide a lot of communication, especially for their kickstarters. Their videos were a little limited there for a few months (once a week and usually targeting on something about MGT). Recently they went back to releases m-f mornings and its more of a "what's happening today" and its been a lot more of the warts and all that attracted people to them in the first place.

Hello, everyone!

We're rolling out the pledge manager now for all US and Canadian backers. Other international backers, we have some final snags to work through related to duties and customs charges being properly assessed, so we'll aim to push those out as early as possible next week - apologies for the delay there.
Basically, EU friendly shipping still not sorted? They just released what they already have, the one without problems, and then non-chalantly apologize for the delay. [MURRAY]

Granted that integrating a new shipment/payment method is a complicated dev work and requires a lot of testing, or else it's going to be a shitshow, we gotta give it to this one guy putting his face out there trying to get it out as soon as possible — atleast that's what he says on the updates. It's getting comical at this point

Anyone who already has the website link to access the groundskeeper items, feel free to share it here. Thank you.

The site is getting murdercided by people trying to complete orders.

I got mine done (at least according to emails) but the actual site threw an error on checkout

Thanks for the link!

Add-on items are free of shipping charges when you're a backer, right? I'm trying to order right now (without my credits yet) and add-on items do add up on shipping.

pretty sure no, I had two decks from the campaign and threw in a third since I had a credit that would have likely just confused the site since it was larger than what I owed, and the shipping went up I believe.

But it was a whopping $8 for 3 decks (US to US)

careful what you leave in the cart, I still had an MGT (a table) I must have been playing with months back when I went to check out.

It should add in whatever you pledged for when you get the link

Okay I must've assumed/confused that bit with other campaigns.

But as it is right now, shipping to Asia:
1 luxury card: $16
+ 1 set dealer coins: $29 (I think this'll end up as my shipping charge anyway)
+ 1 set poker chips: $100 (don't even think about it, mate)

I, too did a double take when I saw it was charging me almost $13 for tax & shipping for 3 decks. I will have to keep that in mind on future projects. It wasn't a deal breaker but it was certainly more than I wanted to spend.

Oof people getting pissed with this pledge manager gimmick. Add to that some apparently surprise additional tax? This is reflecting badly on TGW.

I'll be pissed as well if I get a surprise charge more than what it is right now, providing that the EU and ROW shipping supposed to lower that.

To be clear, I'm not "pissed." And although I prefer the nice, easy, built-in KS way of confirming pledges, or bakerkit, I don't mind when people use their own websites. It did take me a while and a lot of unnecessary navigating to realize I had to click on the shopping cart to confirm my pledge so I think that could have been made more clear in the email. But overall, I'm fine with it.

I wish the shipping were cheaper but if I really cared that much, I either wouldn't have pledged in the first place or asked for a refund. I'm okay with it this time around but it's definitely something I need to keep in mind for future TGW projects. I usually only pledge for the non-super limited decks that can easily be obtained in the aftermarket so I might just wait until they make it to Penguin next time and pick the decks up there with free shipping.

To be clear as well, I'm not referring to you, we just happened to have typed it at the same time. I'm referring to the project's comment section that is getting ugly atm.

I didn’t back this deck but I have to say I’m worried. I am/was planning to back the corrupted but I already get raked over the coals for Canadian shipping. I don’t really want to stomach extra charges after the pledge has gone through.

Omar, any plans for adjustments before the launch of the corrupted?
