Yep seems VXD and Skymember belong on the list and Doc's is running a marathon to make it on the list as well, lol.

I mean delays are one thing, but at least respond to people or post an update, zero excuses for that especially if a person is regularly logging on. I sent a message to Doc's on IG and he responded saying there was some kind of a delay and that he was still here and would continue to update as they develop. Sure okay whatever.

I sent him a message a few weeks ago. Surprised he actually responded though he hasn't done anything.

One hat in the ring for VXD. The guys have essentially vanished and I have no confidence whatsoever in their ability to deliver at this point.

I think I worded my previous post too vaguely. I have added VXD to the list.

Perhaps now we can officially added Docs Playing Cards to the Black List

Reason:
Four of his campaigns are way overdued, and somewhat no updates whatsover despite recently logging in

Oddly enough, there is a brand new update on Ludus Magnus from Mike. Still terribly overdue but there is movement.

I also noticed a reply less than 30 minutes later from another overdue campaign, S.W. Erdnase 120th Anniversary by Doc. It just seemed odd as both campaigns have been incredibly silent for a quite a while and each have updates 30 minutes apart. Fingers crossed both are heading forward in production.

What's his post say, for those in the community who haven't backed this particular project but may have other pledges?

I wasn't a backer but I saw this screenshot posted on Reddit. No specifics on timeline or status of the campaign components, so you can take this update with a grain of salt.

The one Baconwise showed here is his update on 120th Anniversary S.W.Erdnase deck

This below here is coming from LUDUS MAGNUS:

And he replied to my comment regarding me not trusting his words completely:

Why I get the feeling that these replies are somewhat AI generated?

It's the unnatural vocabulary for such communication. I was just about to comment sharing the same sentiment before I read your suspicions of AI. I'm fine with it being used as a complementary tool, but the fact this may have been churned out and then posted as appropriate is laughable.

Has anyone ever received their money back for a "failed" campaign on Kickstarter where no one ever gets their decks and the creator essentially ghosts everyone? I have very limited experience with KS (30 projects) and so far only 3 of those are in limbo, which are Ludus Magnus, 120th Anniversary of SW Erdnase, and Monte Carlo Diffractor. I only recently found out about the creator of Monte Carlo, which was sad to hear. I'm not looking to get my money back, or I'm not expecting to, as it's my understanding of KS campaigns, and from what I've heard others say, that KS doesn't give money back, or at least for situations like some are experiencing with Ludus and Erdnase. Whether it's because KS clearly states in their disclaimers about the risks or maybe that KS has already received their portion of the campaign money and they're not in the business to lose money. I don't back projects to the degree that some people do, usually just getting one or two copies of each deck (usually the nicer, more limited, or gilded versions) but not ever spending the kind of money for bricks or anything like that. So my investments are much smaller than most, although $250 USD for Monte Carlo kind of hurt, but I wrote it off years ago and then finding out about the creator was just a sad overall outcome.

Anyways, I began to think about a "hypothetical" scenario and I'm curious if it holds any weight. Let's say there's a KS creator who has projects that are 1-2+ years overdue, almost no communication to backers, and is essentially trying to take the money with no plans to deliver. But this creator, for some crazy reason, still has hopes to create other projects on KS in the future. Given that many backers of those projects in limbo have reported them to KS and that might affect the creator being able to create projects in the future; would there be an incentive for the creator to still post updates on the limbo projects after months/years of silence so they can show KS that they've technically provided communication to backers in order to have a better chance of creating future projects without being denied or flagged by KS?

Kickstarter carries some inherent risks. Creators failing to deliver a promised reward is one of them. I have had more than a few never deliver, including my first kickstarter. If it is a major worry, then either avoid Kickstarter like the bubonic plague, or be very selective when backing. Even being selective can fail you, but your odds will be vastly improved. Those with multiple successful campaigns that are on less technical in nature and can deliver rewards quickly are your best bets. The high tech stuff I back has the worst delivery results. I would say it is worse nowadays, but I have always had failed projects from literally the beginning.

My third Kickstarter was due to deliver in September 2014 and is actually still ongoing. Initially it turned out to be way more work than they anticipated, and now the distributor, who currently own the rights to the film, are sat on it and refuse to do anything with it. The rights revert back to the film's creators this year sometime and they intend to finally send out the rewards.

To add to this, if you're having reservations about backing a campaign, what I've done in the past is wait til it came out and buy on the secondary market for close to, if not the same prices offered to backers. This guarantees that you'll only be spending money on a real product that was successfully made. And if it never got made, then you dodged a bullet by not funding the KS. The downside of course is that it takes some hunting and a bit of luck to make sure you're not paying a huge premium to resellers.

While another plus side of the secondary market is that there will be feedback around (UC) even reviews - so you know exactly what you are buying

IF ONLY Kickstarter has a team of watchdogs that monitors every single campaigns to make sure the creators fulfil part of their bargain to the backers who had given hundreds of dollars or euros. If the creators somewhat failed in some way, they won't be allowed to set up another campaign.

This would lose a lot of money for Kickstarter. Unless big lawsuits happen, Kickstarter will continue with the strategy of writing up a disclaimer that they are void of absolutely all responsibility in all cases and call it a day.

There's also an issue of AI-generated decks and creators who do not properly disclose the use of AI in their projects. Kickstarter does absolutely nothing in these cases, it's up to the backers not to get scammed.

What about Marvelous Decks? Their last project has had no updates in over 4 months, is 1 year overdue, and no signs of any movement. There was problems with getting printing through Cartamundi and talk of changing printers, but nothing has happened since. And their website is currently down as well.

They had said they were switching to WJPC but haven't updated since ( the 4 months ago you mentioned). And it had been numerous months before the update previous to that. I am nearly at the point of writing this one off too as they clearly have not been doing the work to make this a reality. That their website is down is a doubly bad sign.
