Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake)
I really don't like it. Bearing in mind the reservations they had towards the original design put forward by TGW, I really wish they had expanded on that rather than a wall-mounted chest of drawers. Unless the room in which this piece sits is poker and poker only, strict on theme, design, and purpose, I feel as though it would be an eyesore. It's too big to subtly jut out from the wall. Similarly, having it laying around would also be weird, it would look out of place in the center of a poker table and I don't think it looks particularly nice as a display case anyway. 3 or 6 decks? Ok, there are better, cheaper card displays than that. Chip display? I'm a poker dude, none of my buds display their chips except one who has super customized poker chips. This thing doesn't fall into said category.
I'll be in for the cards, but definitely not the cabinet. This is a serious flop as far as I'm concerned and I'm still going to be holding out for a custom poker set that, imo, does the product justice.

If you fully watched the video you would have noticed that they're planning to make like 10-25 of these things, which means it's extremely exclusive for those who want it. No need to ponder on its existence.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 7:24 pm I really don't like it. LOLwat? If you fully followed that train of thought you would have noticed that this product's purported exclusivity has no bearing on my ability to express my opinion.Disenchanted_11 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:15 pmIf you fully watched the video you would have noticed that they're planning to make like 10-25 of these things, which means it's extremely exclusive for those who want it. ...and though I don't have the desire to go back through the video, I believe the figures are 10-50, not that it matters. Just sayin', might want to watch it yourself before suggesting others watch it lol

[Let's play nice everyone]
For the record, around 7:40 in the video they mention they only expect 10-50 orders of this poker case, because it will be expensive (at least $1,000) -- and that's kinda their whole thing, I went to their website and the first product advertised is a $10,000+ gaming table
This website is not really the audience for this IMO (e.g. the chip shelves will integrate with their modular table system)
(And then later around 10:40 they discuss limiting them to 10-25 units)

Piazza, what he's suggesting is that since the totals for this particular product are so low, it won't be the main product offering of the campaign. But instead a specialty offering. So the piece you were hoping for might very well be a part of the campaign.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake)
I wonder if this might be a series where I just buy the green deck and feel perfectly content. I could see why some campaigns, even Omar's, block you from buying the highest tier decks unless you pledge a tier that includes the "standard" ones. Their CEO even acknowledged they'll probably sell the green luxury ones the most.
It also sounds like the team is very aware this cabinet will be incredibly niche and limited due to the cost and small clientele capable and interested. I do see where piazzadelivery is coming from. I imagine it's hard finding just the right kind of storage receptacle for poker chips and decks that fits one's needs. I appreciate his opinion on the matter as it sounded like it was coming from a place of passion for this type of thing.

Yeah that's not what I got from his message at all, at least not with the implied "combative" tone. But yes, I am and was aware that they were making it clear that the cards are the main selling point, as they are mine as well.Adamthinks wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:53 pm Piazza, what he's suggesting is that since the totals for this particular product are so low, it won't be the main product offering of the campaign. I'm saying I think it's likely there will be more poker sets offered than just this cabinet and the cards.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 5:08 pmYeah that's not what I got from his message at all, at least not with the implied "combative" tone. Did not get that at all, from the comment or the few videos they've put out. Is that your understanding? I certainly hope you're onto something here.Adamthinks wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 5:58 pmI'm saying I think it's likely there will be more poker sets offered than just this cabinet and the cards.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 5:08 pmYeah that's not what I got from his message at all, at least not with the implied "combative" tone. Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake)
I was basing that pretty much entirely on the total they were making. Since they generally have a lot more they make for previous projects. Watching back the video again though, I'm not so sure of that. And I generally agree with your criticism on this Piazza,. I think Omar's design was a better direction to go in. We'll see when the project goes live. I'll be in for the cards either way. As an aside, these guys consistently come off as obnoxious to me. I don't know if it's an act for the videos but I'm not a fan.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake)
Some context...
I was originally brought in to produce the cards but as the process went on my roll expanded and I ended up producing the chips and blind/dealer coins. I has asked to give initial input on the poker cabinet itself hence my first napkin sketch. My goal was to elevate the standard poker set and add some innovation with the drawers that could be slotted into the table. I think that initial design looked good when I was shown it. It certainly could be improved and that's what I believed would happen. As time worn on and wyrmwood dealt with other issues (and I dealt with my move) the design process got away from me (in the sense that I wasn't included as much as I would've liked). The poker set became what is ostensibly a piece of furniture. On top of that the design is such that scaling it is difficult. Meaning large orders would basically be impossible. So in the end the poker set became something different from my original vision. I think --and hope--that I can steer the conversation back towards a more affordable and portable version of the poker set in a future iteration. For now the Cabinet will function much like the bespoke Prophecy Gaming Tables--a very high end piece for a few lucky and well off collectors--whilst the more affordable option (like the Modular Gaming Table) is worked on and refined. I do feel like the cabinet will be a beautiful centerpiece for a home poker room.
The good news is that the Cards (both paper and pvc versions), chips, and dealer/blinds coins will be available separately. As well as the 3 deck display vaults.
Regarding the Wyrmwood team; i can honestly say that they are all seemingly cool folks. All were very kind and respectful of me and my contributions--offering credit wherever it was due. I think the more brash nature comes across in the edits--and that's by design. I don't know many new Englanders outside of them... but they seem to possess a very blunt demeanor.

I mean, as expected though - a partnership with Wyrmwood, expect there would be gaming stuffs produced alongside with the deck of cards you are called to produce
I will be in for the decks! for sure! Just I hope there are no editions that are locked in the poker set or anything
Wait a minute, two different materials for cards?!

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake)
To me, if I had the money to buy one of these, I would rather design it myself. Currently having some custom workworking done by a professional in my home and I'm certain I could get something built-in for less than they are going to charge for these and a design that would fit better with my decor.

Eyes on the decks only .3.
Thank you for allowing those who just want the decks to get them
PS: is there an addon where we can get one of each of the value of the poker chips?

BTW, Dan is reworking the courts so they are all different (faces/crowns/bodies/etc). There will be no re-use. The faces are also being tweaked to be more 'classic'
One court example--just a mock up:

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
While I was browsing to find information on Wyrmwood, I stumble upon this article, exposing the negativity in the company:
https://gizmodo.com/wyrmwood-gaming-dou ... 1850237181
It might a bad timing, considering the campaign will launch in a few hours away. After I read this, first thing I though was to share this article here.
Just be careful if you are planning to get the cabinetry products by Wyrmwood. If the decks are Wake’s responsibility, then we card enthusiasts would have nothing to worry about.

This was discussed before extensively, so it's helpful to read through these posts first, including Omar's responses, before starting up a brand new discussion. The discussion begins here: viewtopic.php?p=229960#p229960
Even if the cards are Omar's responsibility to produce, they are a Wyrmwood product. I'd leave it to each individual to decide how to best proceed.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
The incidents in question occurred 6 months ago and thorough internal investigations were conducted. Wyrmwood has since hired a full time HR manager and taken many steps to remedy and ensure that situations like those reported would and could not happen again. Several employees were placed on administrative leave without pay pending the results of said investigations and of those in question none lost their jobs and all were reinstated with back pay. Having visited the wyrmwood offices in Mass twice I. The last few months It appeared to me that the situations were adequately addressed and that the business has moved forward in a satisfactory manner. As always I place a high value in doing things correctly and safely—and my diligence and vigilance will be squarely and firmly affixed in this project as if it were being produced under the banner of my company.
