Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
We sure this is original? With all their Disney licensing, I could see this being a deck fashioned around the oft-forgotten The Road to El Dorado.

Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
Considering the last purely original non-collab deck was Provisions in Summer of 2019, I'd bet this is actually a truly original deck. The closest thing to a purely original deck since was Piracy, that just has Peter McKinnon's name attached to it. This looks really interesting, and happy to see a new original out of them after this long. Hopefully the reception and support is good, because that will hopefully tell them to do more originals going forward.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 4:09 pm We sure this is original? Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
And considering there is the upcoming movie of the almost forgotten Indiana Jones, my mind quickly think of that as well.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 4:09 pm We sure this is original? Hmm, im curious of this design as well - and since this is T11 original, no need to rush in getting them

That took looks pretty great, I'm most curious to see the cards though. Hopefully they measure up to the tuck.

Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
I'm intrigued with the Mayan cultural elements on the deck. Hmmm, this SHOULD be good

Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
Yeah, I would be more excited for a Mayan-themed deck. Lots to work with there; with gods, fire-rituals, sacrifices, and much more!

Nestled deep in the heart of Mexico, the Sembras family distillery covets a secret book scribed by their ancestors. Will you be the one to discover it?

Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
Not sure the rationale behind including "The highest quality" on the tuck which I feel does not need to be stated if something is truly the highest quality. If it ties to the theme of the deck in some way, then I'd be more understanding.

Looks like the name was confirmed on their stories, so I've edited the thread title.

Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
I think its all some marketing science, its a low priced product attempting to claim that it is also of highest quality, doing so without mentioning the low cost (simply selling at it)
From a misc research article:
Marketers frequently adopt a “high quality, low price” appeal in advertisements. However, the price–quality inference theory implies that this contextual appeal may not be well-accepted by consumers because it contains two contradictory cues: high quality and low price. This article investigates how consumers evaluate this appeal through two laboratory experiments. Study 1 shows that the appeal leads to favorable price perceptions and purchase intentions when the product price is high; it leads to high quality perceptions when the price is low. Study 2 shows that these effects are salient when consumers have a weak price–quality schema or a low need-for-cognition.

Re: New Theory11 Original Deck
I don't think it's that deep lol, the caption for today's post mentions "Sembras family distillery" so the mention of Highest Quality probably fits into the ethos of that overall theme and story of the deck.

Then there's our answer, although Gandalf's analysis may have merit in its own right.

Slightly better look at the cards themselves. Personally I'm digging the orange/yellow color scheme.

Depending on the courts and price plus printer I might pick them up as well. I too like what I see so far.

Re: Sembras Playing Cards by Theory11
They will likely have custom courts, be printed by USPCC and cost $12.95. I’d be surprised otherwise

YEP. One of the many reasons that truly luxury goods, for instance high horology timepieces, carry such exorbitant prices.GandalfPC wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 2:19 pm

Re: Sembras Playing Cards by Theory11
yeah, looks good but you might know the rest. i did expect t11 to tout either the same deck as last year or a new one this month. perhaps with recent happenings in the consumer market they have rethought some things as did starbucks. t11 might get another shot.

With no foil on the cards, $12.95 would be a price I'm definitely not going to pay.

Re: Sembras Playing Cards by Theory11
that is odd. for me, the last 5 years or so, my standard has been $15 for a deck with a full tricked out tuck. now prices are $18+ pretty much. foil on the cards would be more than the $15 base for full trick tuck. interesting how everyone has different price thresholds. $12.95 isnt their historical $9.99 but it is still pretty good relatively. especially in a day where no feature cards that are coming in a plain glossy tuck are asking $15+.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 9:04 am

Re: Sembras Playing Cards by Theory11
I don't take only the features into account. As a former printjob manager I know how much print run size effects the production costs for them. Not to mention that due to a card shop owner I know the wholesale prices of TXI decks. That's why I'm not willing to pay a bigger company like TXI the same as an independent creator.
