I'm having a really hard time with how much this campaign is struggling. I do think the video doesn't help sell the cards and the offerings were a bit confusing with photos nor video really showing what each deck consisted of. I also agree that the prices at $28 seem a bit high for one deck. But the artwork is fantastic. I see some people complaining about repeating courts... the only thing potentially repeating feels like the facial hair on the jacks. Ultimately the courts feel different enough. I'm really beginning to be worried that the playing cards renaissance is somewhat fading.

I don't know about fading, but my own collection has hit a saturation point where a deck has to A) be substantially different from something I already have B) speak to me on the deepest personal level. I have about 500 unique decks and maybe if I played with them more I might feel more inclined to widen the collection. As it stands, I've become super-picky. I think newer collectors would still be delighted to get this deck.

There is *so much* here to like. This deck really is (mostly) up my alley. And, as similar as the courts are to each other until you look closer, I could give that a pass... Love the colors, love the design... but really, at the listed prices, I just can't.

This is what kept me away from the original Marvelous decks. Well, that and the hype that led up to it and the dismissive response I'd seen from the House of Marvelous when someone deigned to complain.

In this case, hype is not the issue. Recent customer service interactions aren't the issue. Price is still the issue... for me.

I wish I could participate, but I just can't.

That said, I wish this project success. Like the Marvelous decks before these, they should still be out there in this world.

Man, I must be the exception here. I've been backing more decks than usual lately. Currently backing 4, and another 6 that have funded in the past month. I decided not to go with a gilded deck on this campaign, but I love that back design too much to not back this one.

I feel like this is the case for a lot of folks, myself included. It’s not that I’m not excited but my collection is much more curated from the time I started. I also owned so much that it felt overwhelming. That said, I still enjoy the hobby.

I wish them luck but pricing here is above what I’m willing to spend for the deck.

May I interest you in this lovely hand made deck, worthy of the finest zipping. Perhaps even too beautiful, that it should be kept zipped up for eternity. I completely get what you mean though Gandalf. Eventually, some of the appeal of modern decks where off, but the itch for the hunt continues, and obscure decks with unique artworks start to become quite appealing, at least for me.

Not to add to the negativity, but this was a pass for me also—at least for now. I've actually been backing more kickstarters than ever recently, and maybe that's partly why the price is the main blocker for me. I wish the campaign the best though and I'm sure they'll get funded, the decks look beautiful.

I love what I am seeing of this deck! I will admit that the price is definitely a tough pill to swallow, especially considering the fact that I know there are some decks releasing soon that will have me straining my card budget to the max. If I do decide it’s too much for me, I’ll likely do what GandolfPC did and just pledge for the cheaper Colors of Light deck.

I'm also not a fan of oversized tuck boxes in general, and I suspect this fancy drawer-style box with the embossed foil is what's adding a lot to the cost. If there were a version with the HOW back design and a standard tuck box I would be more likely to back. As it is I might just go for the Colors of Light as well.

I too am surprised at the omission of a more 'standard' release in a traditional tuck box. You all know I love my bells and whistles, but I also think there should be a 'budget-conscious' option for Kickstarters. Not to highjack the thread, but the only reason the CAP line (Goldsmith, Villa Beluno, etc.) will be a 1 sku project is because we're moving it OFF of Kickstarter because we plan to release 4 deck designs (8 decks) a year in the line. I'm actually debating on whether or not to present it as a $33 monthly subscription rather than the one time $100 charge. But this is a conversation for another thread.

I'd rather pay more in the aftermarket for a deck I like than backing on Kickstarter these days.

Kickstarter is (unfortunately) just a facilitator for you to collect funds and have it sent to the creator - they are just the middle neutral man

It’s been there for over a year from what I know. You can cancel on the last day as long as it doesn’t put them below funding. That’s the only time it’s an issue.

This is what was explained happened to Partenope. Creator cancelled the project at 100% funding because too many people wanted to cancel but Kickstarter wouldn't let them.

I am also happy this funded. Although, I did end up pairing down my pledge to a single gilded Colors of Light deck. I love the deck itself, but in the end the fancy tuck boxes just weren’t nice or cool enough to justify the price. I had to save my money for some upcoming releases that I like better.

Agreed. I changed my pledge a bunch in the final few days, but settled on a single The Great Hall and Colors of Light deck. The design of the cards is beautiful, and although the fancy tuck isn't really my thing I'm still excited to see it in person.

I don't see why it wouldn't It's not like the goal was $5k.

Reasons for doubting is that: most playing card projects, they either have 300% up to 1000%, so they have much money to spare for any backups. Although, in case like this, only 2% above 100%, it's a bit worrying as they can't afford screwups in productions
