Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
That's some pretty steep shipping prices, especially since it's coming from Gambler's Warehouse.

Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
Those are the prices we were given, so that's what we have listed we really aren't sure why there is variation from other Kickstarters. We had to move from murphy's due to them no longer handling small shipments and only doing wholesale now.
I hope that the shipping prices don't affect people's interest in the deck as we are really excited about these ones.
Thanks,
Seers

Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
These are nice. Always good to see producers/designers improve on their design and have the cards match the theme well.
I really do wish there's a video to show the cards in the hands of a cardist, just so one can see how the designs help with cardistry moves and flourishes. You must be one of the rare ones who actually don't have such a video for a cardistry deck.

Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
Thanks for your feedback Eric, we don't tend to make prototype decks and send them out as we have done that once and the decks looked really bad when they were a prototype. Also, the video in our kickstarter campaign shows the fanning pattern as it will look when its in the hands so we have that basis covered at least. Generally speaking we have stuck to doing renders because the results pretty much line up to what you will get in person and match with what I like to think is a slightly abstract design style that I enjoy doing. However, we may look into having a hands on video in future depending on further feedback.
Do you think it would be worth rendering out some examples of how the deck would look in displays?
Thank you for replying and I am glad you think the design has improved, I do enjoy working on future designs and I will be seeking feedback for some things I have been working on on this forum at some point in future, I value all of your feedback.
Thanks again,
Seers

Trailers like what the Virts put out and what TGW or even gavinwong does on youtube does help me see just how the designs work in the standard cardist moves. It may help, but I'm not a cardist.
Anyone on reading this thread willing to share if it makes a difference being able to see the cards in the hands of a good cardist on a video or it makes no difference?

Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
Not really a cardist either so, grain of salt advised; I'm with Eric in the sense that a video is always better than a render (at least at the current state of renders). But in an effort-compared-to-gain-ratio I'm not sure if it really is worth it.

Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
Thanks for your feedback Harvonsgard, interesting to see most people want to see a prototype deck as opposed to the videos we make which we think best represent what you'll be getting, however we are open to possibly getting something done.
But I think we would stick to still renders for the photographic aspect of the Kickstarter as you can do things which are more in line with the deck for example the Aspectu V3 are designed with a cyberpunky aesthetic and so some of the renders reflect that in a way a photographer may struggle to do. Also, it makes the Kickstarter feel like it's more "ours" sort of all of our effort has gone into it the video, photos, designing, writing, etc. It makes the seem more personal. However I'm probably a tiny bit biased there.
Anyway it's nice to have some discussion on here I always enjoy talking to you all when we make a new launch.
Thank you, Harvonsgard, have a nice day!

Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
Sure, but collectors like an accurate representation of what they're getting as renders can often lead to disappointment when the final product falls short. Just a thought.Seers wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 2:00 am But I think we would stick to still renders for the photographic aspect of the Kickstarter as you can do things which are more in line with the deck for example the Aspectu V3 are designed with a cyberpunky aesthetic and so some of the renders reflect that in a way a photographer may struggle to do.

Re: Aspectu V3: Neo Tokyo
Thanks for your input kevork, I have attached below a render compared to a real photo of the magus playing cards for an idea of what sort of differences there are in the renders I make to the actual product.
Firstly here is the photo: I think that my photography is not great to be honest but here we are, it features such nice things as my keyboard and mouse. It gets the job done but I dont like it very much.
Here is a render of a tuck with a marble material as the background I think the lighting looks very nice and I have made a nice job with the camera settings within my editor.
Here is another render, this one shows some of my favourite material work I have done with playing cards, I made the bump map myself for the deck and I think it works very well to emulate the aircushion finish and generally looks very dramatic.
Here is another one, I think both scenes show the deck quite similarly to the product which you would receive from us I don't think they are any worse than a photo. In our experience with prototype tuck boxes they often look awful so I would never use one even if I were buying a prototype deck. I think in the sense that the renders are not able to show the product in a realistic light.
We will ask some of the backers what they think with regards to the idea of renders as opposed to photos of a real deck, keeping in mind the deck would not look like that from USPCC or carta therefore, in my opinion, looking less like what you would receieve.
Thank you all for your feedback it is really helpful in letting us know what people generally think, I will attach a render I made of the Aspectu V3 in order to keep this more topical

Thank you all for the feedback, its a pleasure to be able to talk about our cards on a forum with people who are as passionate as you are, thanks again,
