Yeah, this all looks good, especially those coins, but I am trying to go light on this one. My budget is way busted already. I do love Nicolai's artwork. These decks are no exception.

I'll stick with the decks and booklet so that I'm not overwhelming myself and can actually enjoy what I receive. Such great artwork, to be expected from Nicolai.

Starting to get a bit too dark for me. Did get the Vengeance of Witches though, although I wonder why...

Yup, even better than the Vengeance of Witches ones - and heck, I love that goat sculpture on the coin

The backs remind me of the Requiem backs. Those coins are stunning. Love his work in general, although I have not backed many of his projects for different reasons over the years. Going to have to consider this one....
Edit: Oops. I saw the usual issue that typically pushes me off the fence in the other direction.
Still, I really do want those coins. Hmmm....

What is the issue that pushes you off their cards?rousselle wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 2:20 am The backs remind me of the Requiem backs. Those coins are stunning. I open my decks. I've noted elsewhere that I very much appreciate the people at NPCC, their printing, their card stock, their artists... really, there's just so much to love about them. And yet, the feel of the cards is so nasty in my hands that everything else has to be super compelling to get me to back a project that is manufactured by them. I wish them all the success in the world, but I just can't see adding another deck to my collection that I never want to handle, you know?Adamthinks wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 3:37 amWhat is the issue that pushes you off their cards?rousselle wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 2:20 am The backs remind me of the Requiem backs. Again, Roman and crew are great. I simply hope they update their varnish at some point. Alas.

Would love to know who the artist behind them is.
Edit: Found it. The master himself as it says in the campaign copy. Very interesting style.

i am not a big coin guy but these really are great. i love Nicolai's artwork! with as many artist that are mentioned here consistently, he really isnt for some reason but is probably in my top 3. also, one of the few artists that have moved to bottom tuck seals which i wish everyone would do. however, it appears the courts are the same in both decks so i will need to decide which one to get. no point in getting both for me. leaning towards the Eleazar edition.

The art on the card faces are amazing. Top-notch. So is the goat coin, as the high relief is so impressive. Not so much a fan of the backs, and the tucks are just dull. I have supported all of his prior decks, but I am starting to get bored. I'm not so sure I will be backing this one
I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

I'd say NPCC has a lot to do with that. Plus the crazy overcharging on the isolated thunderstorm website, which makes him very unaccesable for people that missed his prior campaigns.STLBluesNut wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 9:29 am... he really isnt for some reason but is probably in my top 3.

i get that. i am speaking strictly design and art. he doesn't usually make the conversation. as for NPCC, i do not care a single bit about the printer.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 2:37 pmI'd say NPCC has a lot to do with that. If I choose one, it would be Lazarus EditionSTLBluesNut wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 9:29 am i am not a big coin guy but these really are great. i love Nicolai's artwork! with as many artist that are mentioned here consistently, he really isnt for some reason but is probably in my top 3. also, one of the few artists that have moved to bottom tuck seals which i wish everyone would do. however, it appears the courts are the same in both decks so i will need to decide which one to get. no point in getting both for me. leaning towards the Eleazar edition.
Black, dark, definitely fits the theme of witchcraft. And also, the big goats is onto me

Re: House of Seven Gables by Nicolai Aarøe (Isolated Thunderstorm) [KS]
when i first started collecting years ago, i really liked cards that did not have the white background because they were different and seemed more custom than what i was used to seeing. over the years though i have really come to like a white or off white background more. it isnt due to chipping on the edges or anything just aesthetics. i feel like the art just stands out more.laitostarr777 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 8:16 pm
