The Crossed Key Society is a collection of 6 playing cards decks inspired by Europe's Grandest and Greatest Historic Hotels.
This project is inspired by a Wes Anderson Grand Budapest Hotel movie: a secret association of hotels to serve good causes.
I created the main deck for the society, and 5 decks for hotels: Excelsior (Switzerland), Chateau Luxe (Belgium), Imperial Ritz (Spain), Côte du Cap (France), Principessa (Italy).

Not supporting this as I am still waiting for his previous kickstarter to be delivered.
I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

Yah no. Not vibing with Mr.Cup stuff either. He still delivered past stuff but it's always kind of a gamble, since he seems to take funds from new campaigns to deliver past stuff.
Plus the Ephemerid vibe is exhausted for the myriad of times he did it, imo.

Re: The Crossed Key Society by Mr Cup [KS]
Courts don't do it for me at all, and looks like all the suits will be identifiable from the edges. Also from the FAQ:
Looks like most of his previous projects do get delivered but with massive delays.
So 6 MORE decks are coming? WTF. Not knowing the printer is also a warning flag.I am in talks with different printers to see what is best, I will say as soon as I finalize a deal. Yes, seals are coming. These are the main edition, they won't be limited, BUT I am working on limited edition as stretch goals.

I backed this KS project and today I finally received my pledge! A year late but I got them.

I'm excited to finally get these. This was the longest delayed of all the Kickstarter playing card projects I've backed. With the Octopus deck finally shipping this week, that leaves just the Horsemen deck among the decks I've backed that were extremely delayed.

Been waiting patiently for the Octopus as well - things did go south a bit there but she managed to communicate on the problems just enough to give me fair faith they would arrive one day - don’t remember in the slightest what I pledged for anymore, will have to check

Re: THE CROSSED KEYS SOCIETY playing cards COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS
Like last time, imo these are perfect for tuckists and well below average for everybody else.
Using old photos for the courts is a great idea. Not much design needed, meshes well with the Grand Budapest Hotel universe. However, it is very disappointing that despite the acknowledgement of the 6 distinct hotels mentioned in the film, all are staffed by the same people in the deck. Wasn't Mr Cup meant to draw from his "collection of old pictures"? Surely, to call it a collection would indicate at least 18 pictures, if not 72. Lazy, boring.
6 hotels? Nope, actually just 5, likely because the Grand Budapest's name and likeness would have to be licensed. I find it super annoying to invoke the movie's universe only to ignore its existence. I, and I assume many others, would be willing to pay the premium necessary to use the IP, unless...
NPCC. I've heard the recent comments about their products' improvement in terms of handling, but as primarily a card magic guy, their decks don't pass muster imo.

Re: THE CROSSED KEYS SOCIETY playing cards COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS
I fiiinally received my Kickstarter package for the orginal Kickstarter project in December so I can speak to these specific cards ( the cards for this new project are identical, it's just a different tuck color). The cards handle like ass. I overall like the cards and tucks, but they really handle poorly. I have other NPCC decks that handle much better, so this might be due to the choice of stock.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 8:41 pm

Re: THE CROSSED KEYS SOCIETY playing cards COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS
The way I see it...
I pledged for the half-brick reward which comes out to around $17 per deck, shipped. And it includes the cool box. I don't really care much for cool boxes so I just view it as $17ish per deck plus a free box. Which isn't bad, especially being an enormous fan of The Grand Budapest Hotel.
As far as the stock goes, I can't seem to find any specific reference on the product page but hopefully this time around, it's the same stock used for the Gambling Frog decks because the green one is the first NPCC deck I ever thought to be high quality. USPCC is still the king of stock IMO but the Gambling Frogs' stock isn't bad at all (after day 2). I wonder what they're using for these?
Either way, TL;DR as a tuckist and a fan of the Wes Anderson movie (I don't blame the creator for not seeking licensing, I imagine it would be VERY expensive), I will pay $17 per deck for these.

You are correct. Ignore everything I just said except for my love of the movie.
