Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
I have 3 KWP decks from the mystery PRC printer and they all handle differently. The Mistborn deck handles about as poorly as any deck I've used. The Sterling deck handles decently. And this LOTR one is somewhere in between, but also much thicker. All are beautiful decks, but I'm a little curious as to what's going on with that printer.

Plot twist: Jackson prints all of them himself/with his team and just uses whatever recycled plywood, paper or cardboard he can find as stock, haha. That's why they handle differently.

So THAT explains the pizza stain on one of the cards. Looks like it was a Hawaiian pizza too, the rat bastards.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 2:56 pm Plot twist: Jackson prints all of them himself/with his team and just uses whatever recycled plywood, paper or cardboard he can find as stock, haha. Am I the only one who hasn't received a shipping confirmation for the non-gilded decks?

I haven't received a shipping notice at all. If it just shows up (not implausible) that's fine, but I think I should do a little legwork come Monday if that remains the case. I know they had something like 8000 orders to fulfill, could easily have got lost in the crush.

Yeah, as I said, I'm not super concerned given the size of the order, and the fact I live in entirely the wrong half of the planet, just been a while since I've heard anything and, honestly, sating my curiosity.

Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
Someone on Facebook stated they purchased decks on the KWP website and have received them already. A bit disappointing that some KS backers (me included) have not. Maybe fulfillment is being handled by someone else? I know some campaigns will not make decks available for purchase until at least all KS pledges are shipped.

Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
KWP does all their own fulfillment. The LotR listing on their site says Per-Order, so it doesn't surprise me that they would lump in fulfilling those with the KS batches.
As a side note, I still think it's stupid that they can't display the QoD (Luthien) on their site even after the deck has been made.

I've spent way more than I care to admit on playing cards, but I'll still buy just about anything that Lorenzo, Jackson, or Gio make.

Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
Jackson really only has rights to the characters that are actually present in the LotR trilogy. Luthien (the QoD) is actually a character in the Silmarillion, but is mentioned in LotR in a story told by Aragorn. Since his license does not cover characters from the Silmarillion, they are allowing him to use the character in the deck, but not in any of the promotional material. I dunno. Seems kinda dumb to me.

Received tracking email in the last half hour. I'm running a book on when it gets here. Furthest estimate from when it arrives buys me one of everything for The Two Towers!! I'm gonna bet it won't arrive this year. First week of next year. Thursday.Adamthinks wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 1:29 amThey are still shipping stuff. It's just taking time. My rewards came in last week. The half-brick box is really nice. I like the decks I received. I didn't spring for the Legacy Box this time. Two more campaigns to go.

Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
I'll send pictures to see if your team thinks they deserve to be replaced. At this point, I don't know if I can say they're "bad", by USPCC's standards... It just sucks that USPCC's standards are so damn low. It bothers me knowing that the other sealed decks are likely just as bad.JacksonRobinson wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 9:24 amDid you get a bad one? send us an email at support@kingswildproject.comtheCapraAegagrus wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 6:54 am I'm only going to say this once:

Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
Finally, after a very long time! The Lord of the Rings Vol.1 has arrived at my place
Although, I am missing the Gilded edition. Good thing there is a note saying it will come soon - will keep on to that promise (although I worry of the tax that I pay later).
Great artworks as always! Jackson nails everything - a true afficionado of Tolkier's works

Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
One thing I noticed between the Standard and Kickstarter edition - not only the back design and the box is different - but the artwork on the faces for the Kickstarter edition is… almost extend near to the card canvas compared with the Standard USPCC ones - and the exclusive edition is way more rich in colors while the standard USPCC is a bit dull.
And wow, it’s same finish and foil as in Mistborn, though miraculously, I can fan the cards of LOTR!

Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
The art and color is identical on both. They were printed at different factories though ( USPCC for the standard, and the mystery china printer for the exclusive) so the colors show up veeeeerrrrryyyyy slightly differently since they are using different stock. It's barely noticeable. The borders are just a hair thinner on the exclusive version also.Swiski66 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 7:46 amWow! Didn't know the art was different on the faces! Re: The Lord of the Rings - By Kings Wild Project
Here ya go: Left - the standard LOTR Vol.1 VS Right - Kickstarter Exclusive LOTR Vol.1 Notice the slight differences between the two? This is what I meant by, the artwork expands to almost touching the card border.
Note that: The Kickstarter Exclusive Edition is printed by a mystery printer in China (so I decided to nicknamed it MBF - Mystery Best Foil). It is the same printer who produces Mistborn Playing Cards. I try to fan the cards for Mistborn, and I got is three chunks of packets - the cards are somewhat rough from the layers on the paper Yet, miracolously, I can fan the cards for this LOTR!
