Pedale hit his deadline too. Even with having to hand number close to 10,000 decks.

The pedale deck is a perfect example of what you can accomplish when you sit down, roll up your sleeves and go to work, instead of coming up with excuses!!!!

Thanks!

I didn't back that deck, I didn't like it enough to pay the $15 he was asking. I think that's what it was.

Same here. Good to know he did all of his backers justice though.

Pedale posted a time-lapse video of them prepping and packing up all the shipments. He had several helpers, but if i remember correctly they did it all in a single day. It was pretty impressive.

They got to work and got it done, like committed professionals.

I've never been interested in David's designs, so i haven't been following his fulfillment issues. I did note that he was producing project after project, and never seems to have problems getting enough backers to reach his goals.

I didn't realize there was so much pent-up anger towards David. People around here seemed to be pretty into his latest mustache project. Are there other issues besides his delay in fulfilling his projects that we should be aware of? (Of course, that alone is clearly a big strike against him).

I don't think there is pent up anger against him. What there is, is pent up anger of deck creators that come on this forum and constantly lie to members. Eventually everyone gets tired of it and it spills out into the open.

Thanks!

I guess I would like to put my two cents in. As for me Mikes advice has been sound both publicly and privately. Personally I was amazed at how fast I got my UC decks. Weather you have shipping experience or not becoming versed and proficient with shipping is just as important to designing awesome cards.

At the same time every kickstarter is different. For most designing all the cards before you even start is the way to go and probably the smartest. As for me designing every card for the Federal 52 project before was something I didn't want to do because I wanted to create an environment where my backers could be a living part of the creative process. I'm so glad I chose that route because of feedback from everyone on UC I was able to make a better deck in the end.

In terms of numbers and prices of decks there's no need to argue how much things cost. The info is readily available. Mike was right on when he said the minimum cost for 2500 stock decks is around $7000 and the minimum price for stock Bee (which is what we did on Federal 52) is about double that. USPC also quotes 6-8 weeks for the production of Bee stock just because they have to outsource the Bee stock tuck case printing.

The most important lesson I think anyone can pull from this thread is ALWAYS be transparent with your backers. I put September as my ship date based on the info I had learned from up until that point. Was it too long or too short who knows, my cards are still in production. But all of my backers no exactly whats going on. I get crap from a few of them from how many updates I send out to keep them as informed as possible. I had a 40 day campaign and on the last day of the campaign I had sent out around 52 updates. That ridiculous you may say, but if your one of my backers you know exactly whats going on.

Being transparent with you backers about dates, delays, or whatever will give them ample information to make a decision. In the end they are adults and are responsible for what they spend their money on, and you are responsible as a creator to fullfill as promised or stated or otherwise do everything in your power to find a solution to your problem.

LOL my biggest problem to date has not been with USPC or my backers its been with the USPS, all i want is to get some customs form slips for my international packages. They have lost my order three times already. If you think designing cards is hard try getting things from USPS. The post offices in LA might as well be zoos and good luck trying to talk to someone on the phone.

Having dealt with him numerous times, I had no bad surprise with him. He was friendly and professionnal to me.
I already have the Polaris decks in stock, so I can't testify about any kind of delay, I must be lucky, I'm aware of that :)

Other than that, I really dig VANDA decks and I can't wait for the Mustache and Bacon decks :D

I'm playing with a Polaris Solar deck as we speak, the fans looks soooooooo good :D
