My friend Chris Hage has launched preorders for a new version of his Wonder Deck. Chris has a great track record as a creator with his Phronesis, TRICS, and Wonder decks.
The new edition has a Blue & Yellow color scheme, and Chris is donating 100% of sales to 2 charities to help Ukraine.
I've preordered 2!

Kevin thanks for the post!
In case you’re wondering, I’m donating the cost of production, so any money spent on the decks goes directly to the two charities.

Re: Wonder Playing Cards - Ukraine Edition
Here's some promo pictures of the Wonder Playing Cards - Ukraine Edition
Versions with gilded edges are going to look particularly amazing.
Here's what the ad copy says about the stock:
"The tuck features the clean and classic design from our Signature Series with bright yellow metallic foil and embossing on a luxurious soft-touch royal blue paper. In fact, the paper stock on this deck is the same stock we used on the Scarlet Wonders. If you have that deck, you know how luxurious they feel. The cards will be printed on a classic casino-grade black core card stock with an embossed silky-smooth linen finish. "
The standard Scarlet Wonder deck was printed by USPCC, whereas the Signature Scarlet Wonder deck was described as follows: "Printed on thin-crushed stock with Viper finish by Legends Playing Card Company". Does that mean that Ukraine Edition also features the Viper finish stock?
Edit: Apparently not, because I've been informed that the Ukraine is being printed by WJPC.

Re: Wonder Playing Cards - Ukraine Edition
the card back really looks like it has some depth and layers. not sure if it is the way the photograph is or my computer monitor or something. it looks pretty cool those.

Re: Wonder Playing Cards - Ukraine Edition
The rendered image does exaggerate it somewhat, but the design has been deliberately created with shading that produces somewhat of a 3D effect with layers.STLBluesNut wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 8:47 am the card back really looks like it has some depth and layers. not sure if it is the way the photograph is or my computer monitor or something. it looks pretty cool those.
So the printed cards will have this effect to some extent, and I agree that it does look pretty cool.

Re: Wonder Playing Cards - Ukraine Edition
It's that simulation of depth on the card backs that makes me like these cards. It's the price that has kept me from backing after the first color. I'd like to pick up this edition for a few reasons, but I've adopted a kind of "let's wait to see if the Black Friday deals motivate me" attitude toward this series in general.

Re: Wonder Playing Cards - Ukraine Edition
I ordered one deck, which arrived today - they tossed in a free “yellow gilded” (edition of 100)
They still have the preorder page up and don’t mention the yellow, but they do have a picture there with a gold gilded one, which I assume counts as yellow…

Re: Wonder Playing Cards - Ukraine Edition
That. Looks. Stunning.
I scored one of the blue-bordered decks, and I'm loving how it looks, and it handles well too.
The gilding really picks up the colours of the card backs, and takes the deck to the next level.
