Re: SCP PLAYING CARD LAUNCHED ON KICKSTARTER NOW!!
Guys, this project is truly beautiful, it features original artwork of some famous SCP characters, for non-SCP fans, the SCP is basically an eldritch horror fictional universe, the SCP foundation captures and contains monsters that are dangerous to the world. Please head to the kickstarter page and see more info about the individual characters drawn on the card.
Please give this project some love, This deck is made not only for SCP fans, but also poker collectors, you can see that the back design and the tuck case still stay very classic playing card design, I really gave my heart and soul, and tried my best to make this accessible to everyone by charging such a low price on the decks, hope this showcase my dedication to this project!

Re: SCP PLAYING CARD LAUNCHED ON KICKSTARTER NOW!!
Page is looking well-done with lots of good details about the different aspects. I noticed the printer is not listed, which is certainly an important detail for collectors. Also, do you know who will be fulfilling the project and getting the decks out to backers? Best of luck and you are already on a good trajectory.

Re: SCP PLAYING CARD LAUNCHED ON KICKSTARTER NOW!!
If I'm not wrong, it's about a fictitious organization that works to "Secure, Contain and Protect" by capturing monsters and stuff. It's been a long running concept with a solid community. Think along the lines of Men in Black...? Some of the monster descriptions are pretty cool though but iirc they are all fanmade ideas and contributions.

Not my franchise or to my taste but I see it's on to a good start and can be happily funded without my help. Congratulations.

Re: SCP PLAYING CARD LAUNCHED ON KICKSTARTER NOW!!
DId a bit of poking around after my comment and found it as well. Not really my thing but I get what it's good for some. On it's own the art doesn't really appeal to me.krystalie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 7:59 pm If I'm not wrong, it's about a fictitious organization that works to "Secure, Contain and Protect" by capturing monsters and stuff. Re: SCP PLAYING CARD LAUNCHED ON KICKSTARTER NOW!!
It would seem this has been cancelled because of a shipping cost issue on the gilded decks? Very strange because this was 96% funded already.
Also notable was their response to the printer question in the comments:
Also notable was their response to the printer question in the comments:
I can understand comparing stock/finish to an existing printer, but they are still dodging the question and have yet to state who is actually doing the printing. By canceling the project right when it reaches the funding goal and dodging the printer question, they have raised two red flags for me.Viral Ideas Playing Cards (VIPC) wrote:Hi, the cards will be printed in PRC, the cards are really good quality, I have sampled from 5 different printers and finally picked this one, they have the best stock, it’s quite similar to LPCC classic stock, just to give you a referencing point. In fact I almost cannot tell my stock and their classic stock apart with my eyes closed, so don’t worry, the stock is definitely nice, it fans perfectly and I can perform all of the cardistry moves that I know with it!

The creator is active on the /r/playingcards Discord server FYI
He also said he doesn't want to reveal the printer - similar to KWP's mystery printer I guess? For anyone who had backed my SCP playing card KS campaign, I have decided to cancel and relaunch the campaign. This is because I have mistakenly WAY overcharged the shipping fee on the gilded decks. My original intention was to make this deck more affordable, so to keep that intention, the relaunched campaign will have a MUCH LOWER shipping fee, while all price stays the same! So if anyone was held back by the shipping, please stay tuned for the relaunch, you will love it!!

Can't figure out the reason that he don't want to reveal the printer especially for a first project from a new company .... maybe it'll print it in some cheap Chinese manufacturer no one ever heard of. Not for me ~hsbc wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 12:46 pm The creator is active on the /r/playingcards Discord server FYI

Re: SCP PLAYING CARD LAUNCHED ON KICKSTARTER NOW!!
perhaps because there are a lot of people that seem to really care about the printer over other factors. so going with a no name printer would cause those people to not jump on. however, not naming the printer has the same effect. moral of the story, you have to print with certain printers or there are those that will not buy your deck no matter how good it looks. for me, its not an issue, the issue for me on this deck was the stark contrast in art style between the tuck and the cards.Revelation Workshop wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 5:05 pm

Alternatively, there are those that actively avoid certain printers. Either way, like you said, staying quiet is bogus. I learned my lesson with VXD's Monte Carlo. No printer, no pledge from me.STLBluesNut wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 9:42 am

yeah i didnt say that specifically but i certainly thought it. i thought specifically of nicolai decks. there is without fail a ''love the art but i wont buy from NPCC''PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 11:59 amAlternatively, there are those that actively avoid certain printers. Exactly how bad is NPCC though, I've seen many trashing their name but why is it bad? (bad for cardistry fanning etc.)STLBluesNut wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 2:48 pm

Re: SCP PLAYING CARD LAUNCHED ON KICKSTARTER NOW!!
I love Nicolai's art enough that I'll get his decks even though it's by NPCC. To be fair, they make great tucks and do fulfillment for creators as well. I've yet to lose a deck that's from NPCC. Of course, having a package from Ukraine vs US/UK probably helps reduce any thefts.krystalie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 9:43 pmExactly how bad is NPCC though, I've seen many trashing their name but why is it bad? As for the cards though, it's night and day between USPCC/Carta and NPCC. Even WJPCC and MPC have overtaken NPCC in terms of their card stock and finish. NPCC sadly doesn't seem to have improved on those. The varnish smell is even stronger than EPCC. Their cards are great for gameplay as the cards don't slip easily compared to the other companies, but that's about it.

I'm still somewhat confused why the campaign prior was canceled right before being funded.

And again a mistake in setting up the tiers. This perhaps doesn't bode well.
