Greetings from Moon!

I am excited to show you some pictures from a Kickstarter campaign, I will be launching next week.

I have been working for some time on this deck of playing cards that I hope you will appreciate. Inspired from some other decks that I love (the Tecta: Rixdorfer, the Pernowka Highland Fauna and Jack Penny's Culturae Animalis), my love for the island I live on, Moon (or in the native tongue: Møn), and some of the existential thoughts I think we all face from time to time.
I am aiming for a simple (almost brutal) style, using black, red, gold colours, and a little blue on some of the cards.

I have been working as a graphic designer since last century — all kinds of printed matter including a lot of custom typefaces. Twice I've made playing cards, though of a quality that would never be accepted in this community. This time I have done my research, and I am sure that Lengends will produce some great decks including some fancy features!
This is my first Kickstarter campaign, and I am trying to keep things as simple as possible: One deck of cards in two colour-variations. The only difference will be the colour on the backs and on the tuck cases. Also: Pricing will be reasonable and shipping will be both US- and EU-friendly.

I'm happy to see these. Catches the last century vintage vibe perfectly. I'm not sold on the additional letters on the court though to be honest. Nonetheless something I wanna have in my collection - great stuff coming from . I'm ready for the ride .

This deck is not for me. I like the number cards but for me the court cards are a complete miss. 1) cats, 2) the splotchy look with details not discernable.

Even though I am not a fan, good luck with the campaign I hope it funds!

Hey everybody!

Let me share a few photos of the physical proof for the tuck that I recently recieved from Legend's.

The deck is in production now — selfcommissioned since I canceled the Kickstarter campaign last year. I've made some adjustments based on comments and advice, and also there is only one variant, so I've mixed the two colours instead of having a 'black back' deck and a 'red back' deck.
I think it looks awesome! But for those of you who are not into this kind of deck, I've added a warning on the top flap.

The deck will be available in June (I hope) on my website (moonplayingcards.dk). Unlike the Oldschool deck it will be distributed from Gambler's Warehouse which will make everything easier, also the price for shipping. Luckily I don't have many Oldschool decks left, so there is not going to be issues with mixed orders shipping from both Gambler's and my own home on Moon.

I think (hope!) you are going to like it — I am really happy with the proofs myself, actually quite surprised that things turned out so well (untill now at least).

I still can't really compute how well gilded decks handle out of the box nowadays. Above was the result of literally my first try. Fanning out of the box worked slightly better than the non-gilded deck, too. Dunno if after Morésque and Astra Polaris I'm just uber used to gilded decks or if they indeed made a jump in regards to handling.

The deck has been printed — by Legends on their classic stock, which I have to admit that I love very much.
I recieved a little batch here on Moon and the rest are en route to Gambler’s Warehouse. As soon as they arrive — and I have updated my webshop — they will be for sale. Probably in the beginning of July.
The cards handle very well and I have to say that everything about the deck is way better than I expected.
Of course, the graphics are almost brutallistic and not for everyone, but I had some really great advice in the process and I think the result is beautiful, honestly.
I’ll let you know, of course, when the deck goes for sale!

The reason for the free shipping is of course that I can't seem to make the shipping options work on the website/shop — and I even messed the free shipping up too!
Just now I have reset all shipping configurations, and I hope it works now. I'll have other people than myself test it, and you are very welcome to do it too.

One more thing: I can see now (reviewing the orders of the day) that a shipping fee has been added to a lot of the orders.
I'll fix that by adding a standard deck to each of those orders. Hope that'll work.

Damn!Fools standard edition, $15.00; gilded edition, $25.00 [before July 24]






The second deck of top quality playing cards from Moon is printed by Legend’s on their Classic paper stock, in an edition of 600 standard decks — and 300 gilded and numbered ones. The tuck box is printed with red and black pantone colours on quite sturdy paper stock, it has beautiful embossing and a bit of golden foil. The cards are printed with the same black and red colours and also a metallic gold on both back and front.

There are two editions: The standard edition — beautifully printed and packed with goodness. The gilded edition — same as the standard one, plus gilded edges of the cards and a numbered seal.

The price includes shipping. Most of the decks will be shipped from Gambler’s Warehouse in the US, but I will also be able to ship a few copies here from Moon. The decks are put for sale on July 17 and for the first week the price will be extra low. After July 24 the standard ed. will cost $18 and the gilded $28.

The handling of these cards is absolutely unrivalled. Maybe it has to do with the modest use of ink, and of course the brilliant work of the good card manufacturing people from Legend’s. Whatever it is — the quality of these cards is possibly the best I’ve seen and felt myself. The art may not be for everybody. It is quite simple collage-graphics, almost brutalistic. People who like raw graphics, though, are going to love this — no doubt! In making the art for this deck I have of course been inspired by a lot of art and playing cards — especially the Rixdorfer deck of playing cards from 1968. Use this deck for gameplay, cardistry or magic. We even recommend you buy a few extras to give away — we are sure that you’ll love these cards so much you’ll want to share them with your friends.
