[SELL] Damask Blue and Red (with LOWER price)
Hey everyone,
It’s been a while since I’ve been active here. My collecting slowed down a bit and I’m here to see if anyone is interested in buying some of my decks. I’m selling some in order to buy something very special for the love of my life
First up: Lotrek’s Damask set (Red and Blue).
I must make it clear that I did open both of the decks and it turned out to be a good thing because the red deck had both missing and duplicate cards in the deck (I reached out to Lotrek about it and he was kind enough to send the missing cards). However, I haven’t handled them much at all and take really good care of all my decks, especially those of Lotrek. Non-smoker, always wash my hands before touching my decks.
$1150 via Paypal G&S (U.S shipping with tracking included)

I'm definitely interested. If you let me know what you're looking for or what others are offering, I can see about doing better.

Maybe I am wrong but that does not seem to be in the spirit of these forums.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red
That does seem wrong.
I hate that most people listing decks for sale in the RLLE Exchange Facebook group don't put a price and instead say "DM me." I can only assume that they're doing that so several people will make an offer and they'll accept the highest. I could be wrong but that's what I believe.

I would tend to agree - brownsi stepped up first and he should get the chance to purchase or pass before the next candidate comes along. I would not offer to pay more to get it out from under him - thats what ebay is for…

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red
I guess it is ultimately up to the seller and buyer. I have only bought one deck that I can recall in a similar open offer posting. However, in the one case I can recall, I got first right of refusal. We went back and forth a couple of times, and we both knew that there were others interested if I wasn't willing to pay what he wanted. In the end, I paid a bit more than I preferred, but got a deck I had been looking for for some time. The small extra price was okay to finally secure that tough deck. If I knew that the seller was ready to take my offer to someone else and let them overbid me, I sure wouldn't be happy and probably would never offer to buy from the seller again. So, from a seller's perspective, that would not be a good plan if you wanted to sell other decks. It is a free market, but folks do have memories...especially crazy collectors!

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red
It sucks when people list a deck without a price. If you want offers, list it for $10k on ebay and best offer. Otherwise name your price, especially if you already have one in mind. If someone offers you $500 for it, you could say someone else offered you $600 without any proof, or show fake proof from a second account you have. I feel like I'm ranting here but these "PM me offers" posts are just dumb.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red
Unfortunately nothing in the forum rules say you must list a price.
Nor does the forum rules say that the first person to respond to a post gets to negotiate exlusively.
I personally do not contact anyone who lists a deck for sale without a price. I want both of these decks and I never even thought to send a PM because of the lack of price.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red
Agreed. It's why r/playingcardsmarket requires prices to be set beforehand. It leads both parties to be more open and transparent, which motivates honesty.
Someone tried this tactic with me with a Golden Oath, saying they already had a buyer but would give it to me instead for a similar price. The nature of such transactions just doesn't sit well with me and continues to put buyers in the dark on what could be a reasonable offer; giving more power to a seller, who already has negotiating power since they own the deck. Just some thoughts. I don't think there is one right answer, of course. Pros and cons to everything.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red
Just to be clear with every interested party, the reason I didn’t include the price for this set is because I genuinely don’t know the current market value of these decks simply because they don’t pop up often.
If any other members can chime in with a fair value for these decks, I’d greatly appreciate it and so would the interested buyers.
However for a deck such as the Gold Monarchs, which I’m also thinking of selling a couple next, I can go on Ebay and check listings that are either active or have recently expired and set a fair price. I see one going for $157 plus shipping on Ebay, so I could set the price at $160 with shipping included. Probably end up selling at $150 after “negotiations”

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red
Yeah, I'm going to have to agree here. Do what works for you, and if you find your buyers, great. If you don't, then try something else.
My own personal opinion is that we don't really need any additional rules (unless y'all feel differently.) Just try to be fair and honest and follow through on your agreements.
Whereas, I'm not sure why you need to keep throwing in name-calling, @aznh.
I mean, really?

It's how they try to stay relevant and get attention as they never have anything pertinent to say. Or maybe it's excessive sarcasm and it's too highbrow for us … ?

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red (with price)
My comment was not about the seller asking for a price. I don't like having to make an offer but that is me and the seller can do what they want. My comment was in regards to someone making a follow up post offering to beat whatever I or someone else may offer. I did not say it was against any forum rule, I stated that I thought it was not in the spirit of the UC community.
With that said the asking price is way more than what I am willing to pay for an open set of Damask decks.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red (with LOWER price)
Before you sell anything anywhere, you should know what price range you'll want for them. Odd that if he bought the decks (unless they were given) at whatever price, he should know a better estimate.
I remember the uproar for Blue Damask when Lotrek secretly brought them to Cleveland. If we knew before, a bunch more of us would've attended the event.

Bikefamatic, I think you mean the Blue Oath deck, not Blue Damask. Yeah, that hurt. Thanks for bringing that up again.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red (with LOWER price)
I think you're both right Bradius / Bikefanatic.
From what I remember the Blue Oath deck had been printed quite sometime before the convention and Lotrek finally decided to take them to the convention to sell. Luckily he only sold a handful which left some for the rest of us. I also think we may have known that he was going to do this in advance.
The Blue Damask however was a complete surprise to everyone.
This wasn't announced anywhere and only taken to the convention after the pre-sales for the red Damask (mystery deck) were complete.
I know that Blue Oath & Blue Damask were not released at the same convention and I'm pretty sure we already knew the Mystery deck was Red Damask when the Blue Damask came around 'cos I remember how annoyed I was that I'd ordered half a brick of the Red when there was potentially an option to have had 3 of each. (In the end end both decks were limited to 1 per customer I think, although I did somehow end up with 2 or 3 of each at one point).
Anyway, Don't quote me on any of this. This is just what my ageing memory seems to recall.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red (with LOWER price)
Back in 2018 the 52 plus Joker convention was in Cleveland, Ohio. Lotrek was there and he had the rare blue Damask decks no one knew about until after the convention. People wish they known he'll have them. Only people who attended were able to get them. Some sold on Ebay.
For the blue Golden Oath, it was known and available to everyone. I didn't buy one because it's in a clear case and looked too similar (picture wise) to the actual one.

Re: [SELL] Damask Blue and Red (with LOWER price)
The Blue Oath was at the Charlotte convention in 2019. That was my first convention and I was able to get a Blue Oath deck then. I was able to purchase a second Blue Oath from a collector a couple of months later.
