Re: Real Inked Playing Cards by 52 Tattoo Artists [KS]
Great concept and I think it's cool how they worked with so many tattoo artists like this. I have saved the project but it will be tough to pull the trigger when it's over $40 USD for a deck and no details on printer or who is fulfilling. Cool project!
"But why male models?"

Decinitely a great project. Loads of tattoo artists have their price indeed though.

the costs and a few warning flags for me mean I won't back it, but some decent designs in there even if I'm not a huge fan of tats myself.
Not sure why the creator is saying "The majority of backers for most (if not all) playing card projects are from the US" when less than half of their own backers are from there (41 of 103 backers as of this writing) and that is why they are going to use USPCC because "the US is a way bigger market and therefore there is a higher quality expected."
Huh? Other markets don't want quality?

How'd you see the backer demographics?Strag wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 5:49 am the costs and a few warning flags for me mean I won't back it, but some decent designs in there even if I'm not a huge fan of tats myself.

Re: Real Inked Playing Cards by 52 Tattoo Artists [KS]
They are new to playing cards and to kickstarter - and may not be that good at math or world public relations - but the point about choosing a printer near where they thought the backers were concentrated was at least an attempt at logic, and they did say that cartimundi seemed to shun the options they needed for the print run size they expected…
I hit them up with a message to let them know they offended at least one person with the quality remark, and that it was less than correct for several reasons, USPCC being famous for bad alignment not the least - followed up with a run down of possible quality printers that might be worth considering.

Perhaps one of the other printers might help them bring the cost down - for an early bird pair its $30 each for me, which I will gladly part with in any case.
I think if they brought the cost down they would move more decks, which may bring the cost down further - could be a win win for everyone

Re: Real Inked Playing Cards by 52 Tattoo Artists [KS]
There does seem to be some inexperience here, and I had similar reflections when I read what they were posting on the Kickstarter page about USPCC versus Cartamundi.Strag wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 5:49 am the costs and a few warning flags for me mean I won't back it, but some decent designs in there even if I'm not a huge fan of tats myself.

Hopefully they'll be able to get the advice they need to make good decisions, and seeing people involved in this project post in this thread certainly is a good start.

Re: Real Inked Playing Cards by 52 Tattoo Artists [KS]
Please follow the new campaign here to get a notification when it starts again. (about 5 weeks)
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/re ... /200969637
Let us begin with a big and heartfelt THANK YOU! Our plan, from the beginning, was to make this deck of cards as good as possible in regards to the quality of card manufacturing. We learned a lot from your questions and comments. One thing we did not know before was that the packaging and the back of the cards are as important, if not more important to many collectors than the incredible tattoos. That was something we could have fixed during the campaign.
Another thing we learned from the data, was that the vast majority of backers of any project come from the US. That was a problem, because we weren't able to lower the shipping costs after you backed us. We owe it to the 52 wonderful tattoo artists and the 52 models to reach as many customers as possible. (this cards will not be sold in stores after this) The cost for shipping (at least for the US backers) and also the production will be lower in the new campaign. We hope this will make this one of a kind deck affordable for everyone who likes the idea.
We are really sorry for those of you who were happy the way it was but you will be happier with the new campaign. This is not a random deck of which we just can make a second version. This really was the biggest tattoo collaboration with such talented people and it wouldn't be right to not do them justice by making the highest quality of cards possible. Please stay with us for the new campaign. Save the campaign right now and we will promise to make you all satisfied. Because of covid and the global lockdowns it took us two years to tattoo all the cards, so let's give it another few weeks to make it right. Thank you for your understanding.
Have a nice summer and we will be there for you in a few weeks.

This was one that I was going back and forth on pledging. I loved the art and everything about it. It's just my completionist urge wanted to spend more than I could do comfortably. I'll keep a look out for the relaunch!

Seems like the relaunch is mainly to help shipping costs for US backers though
