Franklin Barbecue Playing Cards by Fultons (ill. Dave Lamplugh)

Brad Fulton on IG wrote:We’re officially on the menu of the best bbq in Texas, which means the world.

Stay tuned for the most unique and epic tribute to the best bbq joint in the world. Aaron and Stacy Franklin created an empire from scratch…while always staying true to their principles.

They’ve trusted myself and @kingswildproject to bring their being to a deck of playing cards. Wait til you see the finished product—it’s filled with the same excitement as waiting in line for the best smoked meats in the universe.

Took a pilgrimage to Austin with one of my best buddies in the world; we currently live on opposite ends of the country and flew in from our respective coasts to try the top several barbeque joints in Austin.

Franklins was absolutely one of the best food experiences of my life. Well worth it. We ordered a huge variety pack so that we could sample all the different meats.

To. Die. For.

I like STL BBQ by far. I watched a video about Franklin BBQ and it looked so so good (and dangerous). I'll have to split a meal. Let's see how this deck turns out.

When I don't like something, I pass. No matter who did it, how many were printed or how many (re)colors exist."

BBQ nut here, so going to talk BBQ - not cards. Franklin's is absolutely amazing - the brisket in particular. There's a couple other spots in Texas that I would also recommend that are at least as good if not better.

Snow's BBQ just outside of Austin is my favorite I have ever eaten - it's absolutely perfect. And the pitmaster there - Tootsie Tomanetz - is an absolute legend in the industry. At 87, she is still there every Saturday.

Hard to get to, but Evie Mae's in Lubbock is great. Valentina's near Austin is a GREAT blend of bbq with Tex Mex - my two favorite food groups.

I could go on. Texas has some of the best to offer in the world no matter where in the state you are.

Oh, excited for the deck too.

Next available opportunity, I'm going to have to follow up on those recommendations, @KingfisherZero.

Also, while I was in Austin, we compared Salt Lick to Franklin's, and found that for a couple meats, we liked Salt Lick, and for others, we preferred Franklin's. The best part was going back and forth between the two to compare. Mmmmm.

Looking forward to trying those others. And Franklin's again. And Salt Lick again. :)

Let me know if you are in the Houston area. We'll find some BBQ!

Salt Lick is a fun experience and a phenomenal atmosphere, but I find their BBQ to be inconsistent from one visit to the next.

I will definitely take you up on that!

And, having only been to Salt Lick once, I was unaware that they were inconsistent!

Glad I caught them on a Very Good Day then because they were, indeed, Very Good.

Jackson is a pretty diverse artist but he has a distinct style and I don't think I see it in this new artwork. Hmmm

Only the ad copy will tell. 😃

Dave Lamplugh, @davidlamplugh75 the original artist behind their quirky sauce bottles came back to help create these epic illustrations.

...

I will have a very limited amount of these at 9 AM Central on www.fultonsplayingcards.com First come first served. This deck is completely custom…and handles like a dream. These will also be available in person at Franklin Bbq in Austin if you are there enjoying the best BBQ in the world.
