Of those who have these decks, which do you like the best: the Blue/Gold (Solis) or the Green/Silver (Lunae)?

The blue on the back of the Solis cards is one of my favorite colors ever. Complemented by the gold, it's truly exquisite.

but once in a while someone complains about a quite normal shift within a millimeter when there is nothing else to do.

I guess I have just come to expect perfect registration from Cartamundi so when it's not, I'm disappointed. On the contrary, I've come to expect crappy registration from USPCC so when it's not, I'm surprised. I have another Cartamundi deck that has less than stellar registration (I would almost call it crappy registration). I think it was the Visions deck. It was off more than a millimeter.

There is something pleasing to the eye when you have cards that have verrrry thin borders with perfect registration. And, Cartamundi has gotten us accustomed to seeing such things from their shop. So, when their registration isn't quite as awesome, it's a little bit of a let down. Totally get it.

I haven't opened my EOTO decks yet; I'm waiting for the moment to be right. I'm certain I'll love them regardless of whether the registration is up to Cartamundi's usual perfection or not.

But, if they are perfect? Yeah, I'll enjoy that just a teeny, tiny bit more.

Mine arrived a week or two ago, but I have been too busy to crack the book or open the decks - I will stand in solidarity with you and not break the seals until you get your decks.

I got my Lunae today, really love the courts. The registration is very slightly off but not by very much. The thing about thin borders is that as one side gets thinner and the other gets wider so the difference gets exaggerated. But it's very minimal on my deck at least.

Didn't realise it was a one way back but it's very subtle so not a big deal. Faces are also one way but only because of the map backgrounds. Also very thin card stock, wouldn't have minded it being a little thicker. Indices are tiny making them a little hard to read and some are faded.

But these are minor quibbles as they aren't really made to play with and the art is really stellar front and back. The silver foil on mine is probably the best use of foil I've seen (not a fan of gold foil as I find it a little tacky). Definitely a cool deck worthy of going in the collection.

Once again I really like the coin since I rarely get them.

For the past several years, I usually *do* get the coins. The way these looked in the campaign, I was kinda on the fence, but I picked them up anyway. I was concerned they would look too small and kinda cheap.

Well, the size is absolutely fine, and the weight is perfect. I tend to favor slightly larger coins with more heft, but this middle-weight feel is exactly right to convey that sense of an older, well-worn coin that has simply been... polished.

While these may not be as practical as a card guard (which I sometimes use these coins for when I play poker), they are fantastic display pieces and really quite awesome as decision makers.

I know I've said this elsewhere, but I feel compelled to repeat: when Lorenzo first started this project, the theme didn't quiiite grab me. But, the way he shaped the theme, teased out the story, and then constructed the artifacts to go with them added *so many layers* to every other component, and it made the entire project a truly remarkable piece of art all the way around.

The cards are fantastic on their own; you can fell the impact of all those layers of design decisions, even if you don't have the coins and the book and all that. (Truth be told, although I did pick up a couple coins and stickers, I didn't get the book or other pieces, and now I'm thinking maybe I should have.)

These are fantastic cards, and also a fantastic conversation piece. The playing card equivalent of a "coffee table book" -- just as much for display as anything else.

(I feel like I may have said pretty much exactly this somewhere else... possibly even earlier in this thread. But... can you blame me? THIS is why I get into card collecting.)

This is now my go to "bring out" when I show why I collect. Agree that it's the enire package, and yes I do have the book, codex key, wood boxes, pen, extra astrolabe and so on. Just wonderful. BTW, you can pick up the book on Lorenzo's web site right now.

One downside of the book is that I indeed use the deck compartment and forget that I put my deck in there, lol. Was searching for decks more than once... .

I know I'm picky but I'm disappointed in Cartamundi's registration. I think USPCC is rubbing off on them.

I received my decks/book today. Borders are 2mm. Their min/standard width is 3mm (+-0.5mm) at Cartamundi. If an artist wants to print with thinner borders, they ask to confirm, and then an artist takes all risks. My decks were ok, but 2mm is CRAZY! wow! I would have never confirmed such borders for my decks but I like it.

Thanks rousselle for letting us know the books were still available at Stockholm17s website. I have been going back and forth since the campaign about adding another book to my set. In the end, with my Patreon discount, it put the cost really close to the campaign cost. So, I went ahead and picked a second book up. I really like the book. What is also nice, it is can let me have a really extra complete set I could offer later for trade or sale. The only thing I can say is that I am really glad Lorenzo doesn't run many of these campaigns, which helps a whole lot. I also picked up some extra Astrolab's to go with each of my wooden box sets. Once again, I really like the little additions Lorenzo makes to his campaigns. For the cost of most dealer coins, this is honestly an easy add.

For those that didn't get one or both of the gilded decks, you ought to consider it. They are $40 each, and patrons get a nice discount. I really like both Solis and Lunae gilded versions.

So, let's see how many Eye of the Ocean deck versions there are (I haven't added them up). Here it goes: 1) Quartermaster, 2) Lunae, 3) Solis, 4) Astra Polaris, 5) Lunae Gilded, 6) Solis Gilded, 7) Quartermaster Mini deck, 8) Astra Polaris Signature Edition, 9) Inptrepid, 10) Intrepid Patron LTD w/ Edge Printing. Okay, I count 10 variants. Did I get that correct? I am not counting any special variants like prototypes.

Of course this is Lorenzo, and one of the few that can get away with 10 versions of one deck and not have too many complaints. For the record, I don't have two of the versions the Lunae and Solis standard decks.

So you guys done made me buy another book. Ha ha. I was on the fence, but came to the conclusion that I may regret it, if I don't. It is such a special piece in the campaign and the Patreon discount does help quite a bit. I assembled the one I got from the campaign, but haven't cracked it open to read it yet. Now I feel like I can. I really like Lorenzo's work but his older stuff is out of reach for me a the moment. Maybe beginning to collect items for trade is a way to get to the older items, in time.

I wish I could find a photo I made awhile back of one of my Heretic Lux decks I gave my son years ago to take to scout summer camp. It came back....used! It was about as beat up a deck as you could get. I should still have the partial deck somewhere. There were a couple of cards missing. I even used several of them as markers while I was trying to finish a frankendeck I was building.

I AM HAPPY to report that my "Eye of the Ocean" has docked safely! This is just way more cooler than House of the Rising Spade in terms of world building - like how the cards from the deck can be formed to a map, a luxurious novel with leather bound to tell that story, the coin and everything. Love every details that are put into this project!

This book is just phenomenal. The book alone is done with sewn and glued pages with thick boards as cover adorned with bronze foiling. Combined with the leather wrapping with the awesome Astolabe attached to it makes the book even better! It is just like how it is desribed in a story. There are placeholder pages with cutouts that is reserved to store a deck in it!

The decks for these are awesome. Great work on the tuckboxes and great works on the cards. Don't be alarmed with the jumbled order when opening a new deck of this - that jumbled order is a convenient way to arrange the puzzle without the hassle of knowing the order.

The items for this project are quite unique. The signed bookmark is fabolous, can be used to write something (for the puzzle). The pen (not shown here) is just vintage, just like the old days of writing [PS: will it work to write with it?]. The coin is awesome: one circular metal with two different finish, gold for sun and silver for moon - details are there, yet it is hard to see [you can highlight those details by using a marker to shade it then wipe it clean with cloth]. The pin shows the logo of the Intrepid, the titular ship that is going to find the mysterious moving island - as if that pin marks our allegiance to the crew

Astra Polaris might be the most unique deck S17 ever made - the unfinished form of the tuckbox, the textured gilding of the cards, the foiling on the back, all are just perfection in any ways.
