MASSIVE copyright issues. Every one of his cards has copyrighted Nintendo characters.

12 dollar for early backers... wauw, that deck is expensive!
the prices are weird anyways 1 deck costs 15 dollar, 2 decks 20 dollar!

Wow, I'm a bit shocked that he wouldn't consider the IP infringement. If he did have the clearance I'm sure he would've posted in on the main page so not to stir up problems. Lets see how long it'll be live.

I kind of like the idea, but not at that price and definitely not after Nintendo rips him to shreds.

"1. Nintendo could force me to cancel the project. While this is a possibility, I have watched many other Nintendo themed projects make it through successfully, some even have gained the notice and support from Nintendo. I am only aware of one that was shut down due to multiple licensing issues. I feel very strongly that my project will make it through because a) There are no Super Mario Go Fish! playing cards currently in existence b) I did not just rip the artwork from the games but lovingly crafted each card "pixel by pixel" using a grid of squares and c) I do not intend to generate enough cards to sell large-scale nor will I reprint. I am producing enough to give to my backers and the rest will be for my portfolio, promotions or rewards. This will be a limited edition run."
He's basically admitting to copyright infringement. Whether he recreated it or not... it's still illegal.

If some have actually gained support from Nintendo as he claims, why wouldn't he just approach them first? Seems like he's going by the old "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission"CBJ wrote:on their KS page

took the words right out of my mouth, don't people know they can't do that? No, you can't paint Spiderman or My Little Pony on your store front window! No, you can't host a super bowl party at your church, no you can't show Shrek to the public at your local park - stupid idiots!CBJ wrote:MASSIVE copyright issues. You don't ask permission - you don't have copyright! You can't use other people's work!

Re: Super Mario Go Fish Playing Cards now live on Kickstarte
It's pretty obvious one copy of his Kickstarter link to Nintendo and...
You all should start taking bets on how long is Kickstarter will last...
"On the tuck though, legal is pushing back on the tuck not being Bicycle branded but looking like it is. This look will need to be changed to not look like Bicycle. Sorry about this but we push back on anyone that makes their tucks look like Bike without putting the actual Bike banner logo on it."

Re: Super Mario Go Fish Playing Cards now live on Kickstarte
Like i said in the other thread, your deck has nothing to do with this. Your 'experience' with USPCC counts for nothing in this field, there are people here wayy more qualified than you here.

Re: Super Mario Go Fish Playing Cards now live on Kickstarte
Even if Nintendo was okay with turning a blind eye to these, I can't imagine USPCC and its crack legal department would let them go through without a license. Looks like there aren't enough backers anyway.
Signature? I ain't got no signature. I don't need no signature. I don't have to show you any stinking signature.

Too bad.Strag wrote: Aaaand it's cancelled.
I just realized a wonderful irony: Nintendo started out as a playing card manufacturer! I'm SURE they wouldn't have minded...

Although it may appear differently but I don't think anything Sproutus does is Random. He is a cold and calculated, much like a serial killer
