Great pictures - I look forward to getting mine soon. It's curious that this is the second No. 13 Club deck that has very faint embossing. You can't tell from these images but someone on FB said the limited edition does have it but it's similar to the Romeo & Juliet deck in that it's barely there. Is it a conscious decision to do such a shallow feature or is it the limitation of the tuck printer?

Pretty sure Clove St Press did the tucks so it's not a lack of ability

I don't love EVERY JR design, but the fact that he can pop this deck out along with everything else he does is amazing. Some creators would take years just to design a deck as good as the Iliad. The man is truly gifted.

Harper Lee secured her place in literary history by toiling away at one novel over and over and over again for years before finally releasing what is widely considered one of the perfect American novels (To Kill a Mockingbird). And, then she stopped. Others, like Joseph Heller (Catch-22), also would also take very great pains to craft works that were of a singular quality, and released a relatively small batch of stories that left an indelible mark on the literary tradition. There aren't many such writers who are greatly remembered despite such a relatively small output, but they do exist.

Whereas, H. G. Wells and Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare and Mark Twain and, as I suspect Stephen King will eventually be remembered, honed their craft and secured their own places in the annals of literature by writing a vast amount *different* works at a furious pace, of different types and different styles, constantly honing their craft and trying new things every step of the way. Not everything was a hit, but they produced so many works of sheer brilliance that they will remain revered for generations to come.

Both the slow artists with relatively low output and the fast artists with so much more output can produce works of superior, enduring value, but the artist who keeps relentlessly producing improves their odds of being remembered (and of developing their skill to an amazing degree). I think there are several playing card designers working today whose work will continue to be collected and admired a hundred years from now. As things stand now, how could Jackson Robinson not be remembered among the highlights of this current golden age of playing card design?

PS: Notwithstanding the cost of international shipping, which I suppose could end up being the reason nobody remembers him a few years from now.

PPS: Just kidding!

PPPS: ...or, am I?

Which of JR decks currently out (including LoTR) do you think will stand the test of time as his Top 3? His LT Holo I believe should be his 1 deck, but which ones would be the other 2 in his Top 3? As it stands, I think the foiled Athurians will be one but the 3rd deck is hard to figure out as a clear standout for me.

As a former numismatic I enjoy Federal52 and Legal Tender but I would never ever put them over any of his more original designs like Romeo and Juliet, Mistborn, both designs of Lord of the Rings, Arthurian, Beowulf or even Iliad.

Ha, forgotten about his Wasteland deck. That was back when he did PC game themes. But that goes to show not many will stand the test of time, even though that's our No 1. I personally think his Chinese LT deck is the best of the legal tender series. So underrated, IMHO.

But I believe he'll be remembered for his Holo LT. Just look at the marketing for that. I believe that's his best selling deck even over the OG Fed 52. From last yr's KWP bracket, the Holo LT and Athurians were the winners, so it would make sense that those are his top 2 most standout decks for now. ATM, I see his no. 3 deck in general popularity as a tie between the Crayon deck or the Tigers.

I like this deck, great pips on the spot cards and USPCC printed, but the deal breaker for me is the one-way courts. It's a nitpick, but I want to be able to instantly make out the courts when I'm playing Texas Hold'em, or any other card game. I have to be ultra selective with my deck purchases now.

My top 3 KWP decks are:
1) Silver Arrow with the full-bleed foiled backs
2) Bicycle branded Silver Certificates
3) All his Tally Ho variants are tied for 3rd

Honorable mention goes to Winter Solstice and Robin Hood.

Heh, my friends complain already even with some of his Tallys; that they are hard to recognize quickly. So I have to seriously think which decks I bring out.

Ah, the full bleed foiled Silver Arrows. Beautiful deck that one. That deck and the Black Diamond Tallys are also severely underrated as well. But I'm not complaining as it allowed me to get them at close to original price a few years back. I think you can still find them online at a decent price.

I'm diggin the Oriole deck more than I thought I would, but it should go in the Vintage Reimagined thread.
I've spent way more than I care to admit on playing cards, but I'll still buy just about anything that Lorenzo, Jackson, or Gio make.

That was very confusing. So there are two decks. One is Oriole with a bird theme (moved), and one is Sterling with a British theme in the Legal Tender vein. Is there a tuck for Sterling yet?

Hello you beautiful subscribers. Just wanted to update you on June's No. 13 Club Subscription Deck. We've run into some production delays with June's No. 13 subscription deck. This happens from time to time, just depending on the backlogs at our various production suppliers. We're currently waiting on the delivery of the decks from USPC as well as the tucks from Clove Street. We're only at June 8th, but we wanted to be as transparent and provide as much information and communication as we have.
We still have hopes of getting them before the end of the month, but unfortunately, we do not have any definitive timeline or any expected deliveries for certain. We will keep you updated on the progress of the decks as soon as we have any additional information.

I definitely should get a literature bundle from KWP end of the year.

Re Dec. 2022:
Sorry to say this, but I'm gonna be punting Winnie the pooh... Same problem as so many times before. Just not enough meaningful female characters to fill the queen spots. ... I'm also getting tired of messing and dancing around copyright, even though this is.in the public domain. Example I just got an email from the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle estate about them wanting royalties for my Sherlock Holmes deck. This isn't me wanting to start a Convo about just me saying I don't even want to touch stuff right now that is any where close to being a headache. Pooh would be a big Disney headache. ... probably going to do a cool playing card nativity idea I've had for a while.

Jackson shows why he's still on top of the game with this, if anyone thinks that he's just cruising this year.

Sad to hear about WInnie, but not too surprised about it. Doyle's estate only now are asking for royalties? What about public domain that they don't understand or are they just doing a general letter without checking if they actually are able to demand for the royalties?

JR's 24 hr Enduro deck is looking good. Rawhide is the name, with the art style similar to what you see in the Cut deck. Includes the full double courts. Great deck if you like cowboys and westerns.
