52+ Joker 2017 Deck by Alex Chin

I think this has been released for a while now but I couldn't find a topic on it. So here it is:

The stunning 52 Plus Joker Club Deck was unveiled by Alex Chin at this year's 52 Plus Joker annual convention in Enlarger, Kentucky. Meticulously crafted, this club deck is the fourth in the annual deck series.
This limited edition deck has been designed with the concept of pulpwood in mind. The idea of paper creation as a starting point to create playing cards has always intrigued Alex and this deck tells the story about it.
The luxurious box design features a Mulberry bark tree covering through 3 of the four sides. The unassuming design references the need to peel bark to create paper. The fourth side that faces out reveals a beautiful gold foiled latticework and a representation of the designs inside.
The face cards are fully custom. with the Ace of Spades featuring the Mulberry leaf and the Joker, a wood block stamp. The court cards feature the classic Seasons court cards in a green color that matches the color palette and the theme of the deck.
The back design features Expert Playing Card Co's Perfecta Foil which allows for a two-color foil which turned out spectacular! The 2017 Club Deck is only available to members of the club. Previous club decks are almost impossible to find in the aftermarket and go for a substantial premium if available.

I'll also be the 1st of probably many who will request a deck from anyone that has any available. I have the previous 3 and would like to keep the set alive! Thanks in advance.

Edit: This deck is f^&*ing gorgeous. The gold trim on the tucks aren't glued well, but IDC. I'm guessing that they used EPCC's Perfecta Foil* for the gold and green on the card backs. Just fantastic.

*Edit 2: Says Perfecta Foil in the description, so, yes...

Not to hijack this thread but out of curiosity for those who have the deck what are your preferences to this kind of foiling in comparison to say the Anubis deck foiling? Just curious for an upcoming deck end of this year.

To bring this thread back on track you can get the deck from the club to support them.
Bradius there are 530ish produced. The club almost gave me a gross box and I was way too shy and ended up only bringing back a few bricks for myself. Looking back I sort of wish I was more assertive then lol

I was also a bit disappointed about the gluing. I think it's the gloss of the underbelly layer that causes it. Disregarding that small point though I'm super thrilled though by how much texture it puts out. I was bored with embossing and wanted to try something new. The lace pattern of the textured bark paper that wraps it really delivers on that front.


Also fun fact the back design represents the different levels of the pulpwood garden. Just wanted to show that because I recognize that the back design is a bit more simple than normal, but it's because it's based on a garden.

They are different and I believe that in some cases one is better over the other.
On the 52+J 2017 the green foil is kinda mutted, at first it is not so easily noticeable as the gold. But this type of foil is way better than metallic inks, specialy for EPCC decks, where the metallic inks usually don't pop as much as in an USPCC deck.
I don't have the deck in hand right now, but I believe that this type of foil doesn't shows as much in the front of the cards as the "Anubis foil".

All in all this is a fantastic deck, from box to back (faces are Seasons, which isn't a bad thing). And speacking of the box, yeah, when I first got the deck I thought "what the hell, did they forgot to glue the top layer on the box??" But since the cellophane is so tight, even if they did, that wouldn't come off for sure!!

I can see the stamping through the Anubis/Osiris decks pretty well. I honestly can't see any pressure through the faces of this deck. It's just fantastic (and preferred).

These courts were used previously. If you like the white stock, my personal favorite is the Primavera deck. Or Inverno for the black stock.

I played euchre and poker with this deck on Friday. Admiration of these cards was close to Lotrek's Oath deck. People shouldn't hesitate to collect them.

It's cold foil. That's why. Cold foil is the trend now.

Glad to know the peeling sticker on the tuck was not just my deck. I had grabbed mine when Mike offered to buy 52+J decks for UC in 2019 for Lotrek's 52+J deck. It started peeling pretty much the moment I opened it.
