These definitely look amazing! Honestly never been a fan of mini decks, but these look too awesome to pass up on!

Technical issues made the release of the Dark Edition a disaster. I tried for 40 minutes to get it to work on my laptop through a browser (not an app) and it never did. I have never had this significant of an issue before with KS. Very disappointing as I thought the Dark Edition looked pretty good.

I wish the mini deck weren't a mini deck. I don't really like mini decks but I'm torn on this one cuz it's just so cool.

I am devastated for those who showed up on time and ran into the glitches. This happened with Vivid Kingdoms and Odd Fellows as well (likely even more projects). Backers were having to uninstall/reinstall the app, switch to desktop, and more just to get the add-on to work. I am LIVID with Kickstarter for ruining that experience for many backers and causing unnecessary stress. I feel so bad for those who couldn't get it to work out.

No limit, release at launch of the campaign - all problems solved. But I guess some reasons make this old school and boring approach unviable?
Really not a knock on you 🥓 but I don't get why creators in general aim for the "special" just to later feel sorry and apologise and leave some people disgruntled.
Maybe I'm just a boring old f**k that enjoys cards but I don't need my campaign to be an experience. I don't need to set myself alarms. It's not an experience for me to sit there and wait to be allowed to send someone money.
Not that I have any eggs in that basket but it's kinda ❔ to read the same stuff over and over when the solutions lay at hand.
Just my two cents 🤷🏿‍♀️🤷🏿‍♀️. I'll show myself out.

I do tend to agree, I am not a fan of these limited releases. If the deck has not been produced yet, why put a limit on it? But I collect cards because I like them and want as many people as possible to get them also. I do not have to have something that other people do not.

Definitely a good approach. Botanica will no limits when it launches next year, for sure.

In the case of Ink Beast, I simply wasn't prepared for how well-received it would be. The limited deck came on the heels of a few collector's urging me to do more and I simply gave in to the small demand. Due to that small contingent of collectors, I figured it would be a fun, small run and I knew it wouldn't have enough interest to warrant a full print run. I found a printer who was willing to do 200 and expected to sell maybe half of that or a few more. To say the launch wasn't ideal is an understatement. I just expected a small group of hardcore collectors to get in on the fun and that would be that. I certainly never intended a debacle.

That being said, I am dropping a small group of extra decks tomorrow for those who ran into the ridiculous tech issues. It still keeps the run small but hopefully offers another chance for that small group.

i agree with pretty much all of this. 100% right on. show all of the decks at the start. i guess it used to be kind of fun but anymore, it is just irritating. especially at a time full of releases and you might have 6 pledges out with 4 of them that keep adding stuff. even if it has to be unlocked as a stretch goal, i would much rather know it is on the way and be able to plan for that. at the end of the day, on kickstarter, you are just buying something that has not been made yet it doesnt need to be an event that you have to keep tending to.

what if you went to dinner and ordered a steak and every 5 minutes the waiter came out with music and lights, dancing offering up some new side that the chef just thought of or enough people bought the steak so now you can add grilled onions for just $1.50. oh wait! theres more! the bartender just made a pitcher of a really fancy drink! enough for 5 people, super limited so if you hurry up and order you can get one! right before you pay, the lights go dim. there is a drum roll and the hissing of a fog machine. out of the fog saunters a woman with a box. she gets real close. whispers in your ear... letting you know... they have just collabed with Krispy Kreme next door and you can add a dozen steak shaped donuts to your order!!!!!!

i just came here for some peace and a steak dinner man.

Sums it up so well.

Not saying that I don't get when people search for other stuff and love the chase or the event happening. I'm just not one of them 😅.

I love the steak dinner analogy, but it's not entirely apropos. I mean, really, how many people order the best steak available, then refuse to eat it, because they just like knowing they have it? And, then, maybe resell the steak a while later because that particular cut of steak has gone up in value? How many people resell their steak even after they've enjoyed it? Hmmm?

lol, true, but it is more about buying the item than the item itself in the analogy. i do find it odd that you have never resold a steak though.

Just wondering out loud why don't more creators do a survey to gauge the interest? Yeah, you won't know how many will respond, but it'll probably have given you a good idea just how well received it will be. I would have jumped in on that cool deck as well, if Oct didn't turn out to be such a strain on my bank account. And BFCM isn't even here yet!

The problem with the survey would be the lack of engagement. I get around 20 people engaging with my updates on average, so the likelihood of getting any decent response would be low. People are much less likely to follow some outside link for a poll compared to just clicking within the update itself. I think a good solution would be to have some kind of poll feature built-in to Kickstarter and I plan to submit that recommendation with a whole bunch of other improvements :)

I totally get where very few actually engage in the comments. I'm usually can't find much to comment unless it's a really worthwhile for me to comment. I don't usually click like as well as I'm not that into social media engagement.

I base my question on my experience I've had with a few KS campaigns (usually games, but some are playing cards) where the stretch goal was reached or reaching and the creator's updates was a survey to poll the backers via the comments to gauge their interest or decide on the design choice. Embedding it in the update is probably the best way to do so rather than an outside link.

Right now, off the top of my head, I can only think of Kirk Slater who does that regularly for his KS campaigns that are playing cards related. So you may wanna check out his updates to see the response . Sunish of Guru also tried that when deciding on the Bosch deck printing issue. You may even try to DM them to see if they can give you some insight into that option.

brownsl is correct: BFCM = Black Friday, Cyber Monday. Should have put the '/' between them or just put 'sales' after BFCM. My bad
