Not to get too trolled by the above, artists are artists - there are not a long line of Lotreks waiting at any presses to make cards in the manner he does - there is just one. An individual that is not much different from any other artist I ever heard of - and he does what he says, does not flake, does not fail - a different animal indeed.

no knocking the other guys, and not even saying Lotrek makes “better” decks - as decks are measured in different ways and certainly Gio and Lorenzo are more creative artistically and make decks like no other as well - art wise - but not printing tech wise, not lavish in the way only lotrek can make lavish cards

No trolling here by me. Just a concerned Patreon voicing an opinion in the appropriate forum for doing so. And yes, GandalfPC I agree with you. Lotrek is special. His decks are amongst the most treasured I own. I just look forward to more 😊

Reading the above comments I can see both sides of this story.
I was also in Lotrek's Patreon from the beginning and now we're half way through the second year it would be nice to have received something by now or at least more regular updates so we know what's going on.

Reading James001's post above made me think - Imagine if Lotrek did actually produce and ship his decks on time how much more often our wallets would have taken a hit!

Maybe slowly but surely is the better way to go :D

I don't mind being patient when there is good communication. I am holding on to hope he can sort out his Patreon approach now that he is mostly past Tale of the Tempest. I remember some time during that campaign he mentioned he was done doing collaborations, then the VXD project was announced and I got a bit irritated.

I would love to see an update that addresses the Patron decks and where we stand with them. Royal Silk, Codex, and Maestro will be exciting releases, but I feel like he is tucking the Patron decks under the rug and we are nearly halfway into the 2nd year of that platform. It will be frustrating to see those three (Silk, Codex, Maestro) release before he delivers last year's Patron package. I will give Lotrek the benefit of the doubt that year two will be excellent but I wouldn't say I am thrilled at the moment. It will be worth sticking in there, but for now the value has been lacking.

That being said, I always get excited to see what Lotrek does next and how he pushes the boundaries.

And then I don't feel so bad

I was showing my boss how a deck can sell out that costs hundreds of dollars. She understood after gasping at them. And that is after seeing stuff on my display table of insane decks.

If he ships me anything less than mind-blowing for the special Patron deck, I am going to go to Athens and thump him on the head and tell him to do it again...No pressure.

Actually if you started in Sep/Oct '20 at certain tiers, you are also getting an exclusive deck at certain tiers;
1 copy of the Royal Silk deck that will have a unique foil color combination, different from the Purple and Patrons Red!
Around 180 will be made.

I get this quite often with various carers who know that I collect cards but have never seen any of them, and they are almost all amazed when I let them open a few decks and have a look at the designs; suddenly they understand.

Well, Lotrek send Patrons a post. Now I am feeling like the 2021 Patron deck may not be the amazing wonder for which I am hoping, and not getting a great feeling about the 2022 Patron deck either to be honest....

Me too. It was underwhelming. Silk sounds great, but the Patrons deck seems like an afterthought. And perhaps I'm being too sensitive, but he came off a bit cavalier when he said we will miss the "old" Lotrek and his comments about how we will miss his jokes about being late.

You guys are amazing…

I’ve been asked by backers to do a Patreon from the day Patreon appeared. I was hesitant for years. Why? Because of the updates! I don’t like posting updates. I know it sounds weird but I prefer to shovel the snow from a street in Canada than post an update…
Why do you think that my decks are so delayed? Yes, one reason is technical problems as I am always trying new things but the main reason is that I constantly change my mind regarding the artwork. I complete a deck and then I say: Yes, it’s awesome but it could be better. I need to change this and that. And after I do the changes I see that things that worked before, don’t work anymore. So I have to change these, too. And after that, I see that further changes have to be done. And after these new changes that changed the previous changes, I see that I need to review everything in order to make the final adjustments. And after everything is finished, backers are in awe and plates are done, something completely random happens while printing -like using a different color foil during registration- and suddenly “I see the light”. I feel that everything should have been different. This is where Melina steps up and says: “You idiot, just finish that f****g deck, it’s already awesome two years now”.

So, forgive me if I don’t post as often as you would like or as often as I should. The bottom line is that you will not get your rewards if:

1) I die or get killed
2) I go to prison

Apart from that, it’s quite certain that when you receive them, you will repeat the phrase “it was worth the wait”.

After all, that’s why it takes so long. To make sure you will be blown away.

What about if you lose both arms? Or just the one arm? Or maybe all the fingers on your dominant hand? Or all the fingers except your thumb and little finger? How about if you lost an eye?

You know, I'm just curious.

Lotrek, I understand how you feel now, and that is what I was hoping to hear. I already know you were kind of pressured by many of us to do a Patreon, and you were hesitant, but you gave us what we wanted. I also know you do not like to do many updates. That has always been the case. But I am now reassured based on what you have just said here that it will be worth the wait. This was not conveyed as much in the message you put out to Patrons, and I think that kind of ruffled some feathers. For G-d's sake, you had Bradius spooked for a moment... that man is a saint (LOL). There is no ill will here, of course. As a matter of fact, if you look at it this way, we are just as passionate about collecting your work, and interacting with you as a creator as you are about actually creating. That comes with the territory when you are considered one of the top playing card creators of ALL TIME, and there is no doubt about that. Most in this industry could only wish for a fraction of that kind of attention from the playing card collecting community. Well, you've got it and deservedly so. It comes from a place of love and admiration of your work. Thanks for addressing our concerns. Now get back to work dammit ;)

I have been digging around, and I don't think I ever got my Moresque. November and December were busy months, and still haven't caught up with all of my reconciliations. But, after digging around, I am about 90% certain I never received them.

Are there others is the U.S. that are still waiting, or is just me? I have been trying to keep up with the threads, but it is cumbersome to keep track of those waiting on different awards.
This is me, though I really should update me.

I posted these way back in mid November.

OK everyone I have some pretty exciting news! Like a few others, I was a bit confused by the last Patreon message so I exchanged a few DMs with Lotrek around what I think is happening this year and he has agreed that I can share the results.

The 2021 Patrons rewards (according to the tier) which are:
Royal Silk Red decks.
Patrons playing cards

2020 early patrons will also get as a gift 1 copy of the Royal Silk red with gold and silver foil, 180 decks printed.

The Royal Silk purple will be sent separately from the Patreon rewards, as soon as it is ready. The Royal Silk red will be sent to all Patrons together with the Patrons decks.

Maestro III is printed, waiting to be cut. Available as soon as it is ready for shipping.
  • ICONS anniversary
    OATH Standard
are going to be printed next week. Both will have a Patrons exclusive edition.

CRYPT follow up. You will know nothing about it until the day you will open the deck. It will be a mystery deck but without the restriction of not showing pics online. Aiming for December to add some shine to Christmas time!

CODEX kickstarter on May or April. With an option for patrons to get an alternate back design and also (hopefully) a very limited edition printed on my own stock. Very difficult to produce, maybe I won’t make it but if I do, it will be a killer. Patrons exclusive, too.
