https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ju ... horsemen-0 this one. I understand when people freak out about a project that's 2 years behind (like Stories) or projects where its a new unknown creator that stopped responding to comments. Then sure they can cry it's a scam. I will never understand people who whine and cry scam about a project where the creator is established in the playing card scene (like Tony who runs a shop and has for awhile, and has multiple people who vouch for him) or Omar who has done multiple Kickstarters, has a successful youtube channel and is always available to help and answer questions. Some people are just braindead. I guess dealing with idiots like that comes with the kickstarter territory, even though it really shouldn't.laitostarr777 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 8:33 amIs it the one with the Four Horseman theme decks? Sadly I don't think that this is always the case. Often I find I can get decks in the aftermarket for cheaper if they are not limited editions and for that reason I wait on campaigns more and more. it's also the case that shipping can be much cheaper (especially if a deck is available through Penguin Magic with their free shipping) so if there isn't a limited edition I take a wait and see approach.laitostarr777 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 4:48 am Your comments to counter that troll backer all make sense. I believe I have written a summary on why one should be a backer rather than just wait to appear to retail somewhere here, and on other forums (but I guess some people won’t bother to stop and read). So, I briefly going to say it here again:

Re: TGW Presents "The Tale of the Tempest" designed by Lotrek LIVE on KS
I would like to weigh in on the current discussion. First, I think the backer's comment was frankly out of line. However, that is kickstarter and you will have a few of that type in a large group. As you pointed out, there was nothing stated in the campaign that the decks would be exclusive to the campaign. There was information on the limited amount of total production of certain decks offered in the campaign.
I get Strag's comment that some leftover decks have ended in surplus distributers hands. It has also happened that distributers bulk purchase a number of decks right at the outsde and sometimes get their order air shipped to them and can offer them for sale before even the Kickstarter backers get their rewards. It happens. Recently, I picked up some surplus Less decks produced by Lotrek for a fraction of the initial price. I back projects because I want to see them created. I collect because I enjoy it, not because I think I can make a profit or get the best deal.
I don't want to get into another discussion on the realities of the current playing card industry other than to say that those who purchase decks soley to realize a quick profit are running a risky game at best. One of the things I really like about TGW has been that he is coming at the production side primarily as a fellow collector. In this case, he put in a lot of stuff he personally appreciates as a collector to be part of this issue and likely his brand. Let me name a few: 1) a good story to go with the campaign and built on a memorable theme. 2) Partner with well-established and respected people and organizations like Lotrek, Cartamundi and Gambler's Warehouse, 3)Special shipping for Europe, 4) Extras like a special cold foil deck included at no extra cost to those in brick and select package reward options, 5) Fun letter and sample cards to expand and enhance the story for backers when they get their rewards, 6) a coin added for every backer. This isn't typical from creators that are just trying to make a quick dollar and leave or someone that is just pushing a brand over quality. We have enough of that.

Agree that if you collect for profit you might as well get into MetaZoo. I have always collected what I like and appreciate from a personal view. If my collection has gone up in value (and it has, I do track it) that's great but it's not why I purchase cards. I think I have sold a total of 10 decks out of my collection of thousands but I have given away dozens more.

Just got my Tale of Tempest decks, I really like them! I didn’t know if somebody could tell me what the different order of the cards means? I noticed my parlour cards where the same order, I wasn’t sure what the significance of it was. These are the first decks Ive opened that aren’t in the standard order.

Both decks are in Mnemonica Stack. It's a specific deck order created by mentalist Juan Tamarind. The deck order assists in magic effects. Since both decks are packed with magic friendly features this is just one of them. The idea is a magician could in theory present a brand new SEALED deck to a audience. Then with a single cut and a false shuffle have the deck appear completely shuffled but while having FULL KNOWLEDGE of the location of all 52 cards in the deck.

Although, I think, waiting for said KS decks to come out in retail is quite the gamble. Like, what if you don't back that said KS projects, and you wait for a very long time until you realized those decks never made it into the market. If you can get it first from KS, then go for itStrag wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 10:28 am Sadly I don't think that this is always the case. Re: TGW Presents "The Tale of the Tempest" designed by Lotrek LIVE on KS
That guy is a superbacker? Either he's on a rigid (and rather entitled, imho) mindset on how things must work even in this pandemic era or he's only ever backed card projects where everything went the way he expects with no major issues.TheGentlemanWake wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 11:27 pm Hi all! Thanks again for the patience.
I wanted to get some thoughts on this comment and response... I was pretty incredulous when I read it.
You've been very patient and really gone above and beyond in replying as detailed as you did. But going that detailed also helps clear things up for any similar backers with that mindset.
I don't think he's fully aware of the logistics of the points he raised. Omar chose to be upfront by stating clearly just how many decks will be produced rather than from the number of backers who choose to buy the exclusive decks. That means Omar will be stuck with the surplus if all those decks don't get sold.
What is he supposed to do with the surplus ? Trash em to maintain exclusivity? He's done the best option which is to sell on his personal store at a much higher price than KS. Good luck finding the higher end decks at retail that goes for the same price
Shipping cost is another matter and I must admit that thought has crossed my mind for some KS projects. But you are then taking the gamble that your country/region will actually back these projects and also that the exclusive decks will still be available for purchase at your country's/region's retailer. Even if they do, the very few exclusive decks sell out immediately.
However, working in the service industry, there's always ways you can improve to reduce complaints like this. Perhaps in the future, you can put a clear statement like what Gio does which says any surplus, including the exclusive decks, will be sold at your webstore but at a much higher price.

Yup I completely agree with you, it's always a risk to wait, but if it's not a limited edition or a deck I am passionate about I make a measured choice.laitostarr777 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 9:56 pmAlthough, I think, waiting for said KS decks to come out in retail is quite the gamble. It's why I was all in in this campaign with a total of 20 decks.

Finally.... finally.... FI-NAL-LY! After a year and a few months waiting, the legacy of the the Great Wylenti has finally arrived. The decks are just absolutely divine - especially for the Wylenti Edition, the Treasure Edition, and most prominently, the Dynastinae Edition. I could adore the tuckboxes alone for a long time to see that glorious artworks!
Wake, pat yourself on the back - it is another deck of yours that had been marked down on history of being an absolute killer! Lotrek, your hard work totally paid off, and here I am admiring the modified standard courts that you have done, the foil works you did, along with the killer details. Great job, you two!
May the legacy of the magician lives on with these decks

I really want to quote a proverb, but will focus instead on what great photos those are hsbc. I am not opening my Dynastinae deck, so that was so sweet to see. I am going to have to beg for a gaff deck and maybe see if there are any extra Treasure decks. These are so nice.

So, I have decided to open up my Dynastinae to see all that glory and the complexity of the deck, and I say, it is really a killer
BUT
A complex production has some hiccups. These hiccups can be seem on mine: a smudge on the Queen of Hearts, and the imperfect indices bold on the King of Hearts. Oh no Makes me regret of opening the deck up

I can't tell what's glare and what isn't and the angle makes it difficult to see anything of the king's index's emboldening.

But still T.T it's my first fancy deck from Lotrek and it got casualties of imperfection. But I think that is almost unavoidable. As Lotrek said... this is one of the hardest challenge he had to face: inconsistencies. I have Red Charmers, and the Joker with the mirror, the hot foil missed the frame.

These are close up photos on my Dynastinae. There are bits of imperfection on the deck. Is this natural for any fancy decks made by Lotrek?
