Sailor Moon and grid, yah.
Wait what? What does A1 latest decks has to do with Randy's decks? Is it the Midnight Checks share the similar look to one of your decks?RandyButterfield wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:25 pmYeah right! This type of design gives Midnight Cards a bad name

And... I kinda like the Midnight Dots - maybe it is the fact I love to look into the sky and see the Moon
Ahhh, right! Midnight Playing Cards by Randy ButterfieldRandyButterfield wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 10:57 pm Nothing really. Just the name.
I call myself Midnight Cards (because I work on card designs late at night, usually around midnight).
Thanks, Randy

they prefer to have it because of hype and being cool. i believe the main draw, just like other hype brands, is that people ''like'' them and want them because other people like them, or say they do because other people do. its the typical other people see these as cool so to be cool i need these. it doesnt matter if it is a plain rectangle, a rectangle with a dot or an f, some clip art BS copy and pasted on or a checkerboard.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 10:08 pm Who tf prefers this over a regular deck of bikes? You are making it look like Riderbacks are an artistic revelation. Riderbacks look classy but that's it. Neither are artistically on a high level. I mean there is a guy on reddit who started drawing as a hobby and he is not far of from the classic courts and shit.PiazzaDelivery wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 10:08 pm Who tf prefers this over a regular deck of bikes? You've misinterpreted. I'm saying the complete opposite, that bikes are NOT particularly artistic, but even with that in mind, they are still head of shoulders above this deck from a design/artistry standpoint. I've far as I'm concerned, there's minimalism, and then there's whatever this is. Laziness incarnate.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 10:36 amYou are making it look like Riderbacks are an artistic revelation. Riderbacks look classy but that's it. Is it so hard to grasp for real that people only look at a card back and want it to be clean and minimalist and not look like they're from 100 years ago?
Not in for these but e.g. the OG anyone Dot simply looks clean and good, period.
We're critiquing designs, of course it's subjective. That goes for 95% of what's shared on UC as far as I can tell, goes without saying.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 10:02 pm Do you realize that critiques of these designs are always on a subjective level (lazy, not inspired, bla bla bla) and not on an art level? Haters will always interpret negative things. Not trying to argue since it makes no sense but was just trying to answer your question.
Therefore more clearer:
Q: Who tf prefers that over bikes?
A: People that don't like to look at a hundred year old doodle.
I didn't say nor imply that it's entirely subjective either lol.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:57 am Art is not entirely subjective, lol. What people like or call art is/might be.
