Imagine this deck to be given to kindergartens, only for later to be mystified that they are holding a deck that costs 30$ (aftermarket)

Welp, wishing this to be better than Pink Panther… is too good to be true. But, alright - still getting it for nostalgia
At least, the Aces has something, and the font is based on the series

I think the perfect 'brick' box would be an eight deck box (like Jackson's Jumbo Tuck) in the image of Sponge Bob...could also attach arms and legs using strips of paper :ugthink:

Or perhaps a lunchbox that has "Krabby Patty" written on it XD
Besides, Krabby Patty and Fontaine shares the same trait: people are crazy for it for unknown reasons no question asked, Zach is like Mr. Krabs who easily gets the moolah and never spend a penny in making more print runs and probably being a cheapskate, and Plankton would be the non-hype sheeps who are dying to know what makes it so special

For everyone's sake, I hope the deck doesn't choose more of the terrible representations of the characters
Even the show is for kids, there are some scenes in the series that just went too far, if you know what I mean

He was a guy (Bill Merz) who back in the day produced a LOT of decks, almost all simply using clip art on a standard Bike or some other colourised modification. He seemed to have a pretty good deal with USPCC or did a lot of volume with them because they seems to allow him to modify basic Bike 808 designs with a bit of impunity. His decks are sole on his own web site, Amazon and eBay. The "Santa Backs" are probably his most famous deck (at least it's the only one of his I own). If you go to Portfolio52 and search for Merz will you see what I mean by the selection of decks that show up. Looks like his web site is still active but I don't think he has produced a new deck in about 10 years.

No Kidding.... As I search "Merz" - A LOOOT of Bicycle decks just popped out, with a very lack designing if I must say so. I see that he just change the Jokers and recolor the backs. Damn....

Keep in mind, this was pretty standard for many "custom" decks 12-14 years ago. That clip are style never appealed to me so the only merz deck I own is the original Tie Dye.
As far as these go, I never liked SpongeBob so I'm all set with these. In fact, I have an anti-gotta-chatch-em-all thing with Fontaines. Just not for me.

This is soooo bad. None of this is design, but rather a selection of nostalgic stillshots. With few exceptions, this is the Fontaine formula. If it's not CTRL+V, it's a back color change, ad-copy, or existing brand imagery. Fontaine doesn't even pretend to be respectable anymore. Lazy garbage.

Pineapple House.png
I'll be damned... What I want is actually happened - a brickbox featuring SpongeBob's pineapple house! Also, the tuckbox and the card back reveal as well...

But..... it also comes with good news and bad news.
Good news: It is a Pre-Order stage: (Perhaps at this rate, because of what they've done with the Spiral PO, people will have FOMO over: there must be something in the brick in future releases). During purchase, for those who go for a brick - may choose either SpongeBob's house or Squidward's House or BOTH. Maximum 2 of each variant - a total of max. 4 bricks per person.
Bad news..... It's US only - due to "stupid" regulations from Viacom and Nickelodeon... International would either have to go to SoCal / through friends in the US / warehouse forwarder

Lel... front of the tuck box is no different to $1 souvenier decks from Spongebob. Plus for the back and courts though; me like, so me get a duo. Big plus - not something of the way too soft China crab (pun intended) they released with the diffraction shit decks.

So, this is the design summary for this Viacom collaboration with Fontaine, SpongeBob SquarePants:

Tuckbox
The face of SpongeBob - there might be the Nickelodeon logo located on the top left of the front side of the tuckbox. The back side of the box is showing the back design of the card as usual. The top side has the "SpongeBob SquarePants" logo, while the bottom side has the "Fontaine" logo.

Card Back
It is the floral nautical pattern iconic to SpongeBob SquarePants, as seen on the Flower Sky in Bikini Bottom. There are a few bubbles floating amongs the colorful flowers. Due to the placement of the bubbles, along with the size and color of the flowers, the design is a one-way back. The background is emblazoned with 2 iconic Fs (as per usual).

Card Faces
All of the Aces along with the Court Cards are customized. It is simply snippets from the series pasted on the main area of the playing cards. The font for the indices and the pips are customized to look like the ones used in the series. Each suit represents the main recurring characters of the show, although one of the suits show two characters.
Joker A = Jester Squidward Tentacles
Joker B = Jester Gary the Snail

Ad Card A = Iconic Painting of the Pirate with his Parrot
Ad Card B = SpongeBob riding the Jellyfish

SPADES - Squidward Tentacles, anthro octopus who always feel so miserable - he plays the clarinet, yet always leave sour notes on the ears; he worked as a cashier in the Krusty Krab; always meticolous about his break time.
Ace of Spades = Even More Handsome Squidward
Jack of Spades = Krusty Krab Cashier Squidward
Queen of Spades = Squidward paces forward
King of Spades = Squidward paints his Self-Protrait

HEARTS - SpongeBob SquarePants, the main titular character, anthro yellow sponge who is always optimistic yet still have that children nature; he works as a fry-cook in Krusty Krab and he is good in catching jellyfish.
Ace of Hearts = Caveman SpongeBob SquarePants
Jack of Hearts = SpongeBob smiles with suspicion
Queen of Hearts = SpongeBob lazies on his sofa
King of Hearts = SpongeBob acts like a chicken

CLUBS - Patrick Star, anthro pink starfish who is SpongeBob's best friend; unemployed, carefree, and the comedy relief of the show as he is just plain dumb (no offense).
Ace of Clubs = Patrick blank headed
Jack of Clubs = Patrick jumps with excitement
Queen of Clubs = Patrick opens wide his mouth in shock
King of Clubs = Patrick walks with joy

DIAMONDS - Sandy Cheekss, anthro squirrel coming from Texas to lived underwater in a treedome; a scientist who keeps experimenting and practices Karate & Eugene Krabs, anthro crab who is stingy and cheap in nature; the owner of Krusty Krab.
Ace of Diamonds = Sandy Cheeks does Karate
Jack of Diamonds = Eugene Krabs counts his money
Queen of Diamonds = Mr. Krabs shouts order to his employees
