From the sound of it, Codex may be next.

I am so not interested in Codex. What a lame idea. Only Lotrek would come up with such an egghead idea...

Do I need to have seen maestros 1 and 2 to understand maestro 3?

For real though, I'm very curious how it handles!

Y'know what, I agree. I thought there was something bothering me about it. Now I know. I mean that's nice and all that he has a registered trademark on it, but it just does not add to the look.

With some comments...
No, MAESTRO III cannot be confused! The other versions were not up there. This is really superior stuff.

No, the cards are printed with silver metallic. No holo on that edition.

It's the 3rd version of the Maestro Finish.

You can claim a trademark on anything by using the TM Symbol, but you can't use the registered trademark symbol (R) unless you have registered the trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office. So maybe he did? But he is in Greece, so I don't know international IP law.

Has anyone received any further news on when the Royal Silk is expected to be ready? Expected in December 21 as stated on Oath's site, however I can recall that there was a delay in distribution as stated by Lotrek during a recent interview.

He said on Patreon he has had some delays in the varnish he wanted to use for Royal Silk but that as of the 19th December they were in production but it was slow due to Xmas period. I would expect January shipping at the earliest, possibly later depending if he wants to wait until all the variants are done of which I believe there are 3; Purple, Red (for 2021 Patreons) and another one for 2020 original Patreons which will be either Silver on Silver or Silver on Gold or... well we shall see. The print numbers are 750 for Purple, around 400 for Red and 180 for the 2020 Patreon version.

maybe he has it worked out but i find it ironic that this deck has superior handling on the tuck. isn't that the biggest, if not only, complaint when it comes to Lotrek decks?

Supposedly, Maestro is the name of the varnish and the entire point of this release is a grandiose unveiling of said varnish. Honestly surprised that "Superior Handling" isn't displayed even more prominently.

I would say the most frequent complaint I hear about Oath/Lotrek is the long production times and limited communication. Those are not my complaints, but what I hear most often. The cost is also often raised as well. As for handling, this has been a pet project of Lotrek. I think most of his customers are okay at this point with the handling as most are not planning to work our Lotrek cards to death. There are always wierdos though

When you compare his new decks to Imperial Icons, there is just no comparison. He has come a long way. I think though you get to a point that some people like a particular type of handling and others another. Some like more surface glide, and others a bit less. Some like more stiff cards and others a bit less. There is so much to the feel and handling (and even smell) to a deck of cards. Anyway, I am looking forward to trying these puppies out. :D

If collecting cards has taught me one thing about sleight of hand, it's that I can reliably perform to my liking with a very limited pool of stocks and finishes. In moments where I dwell on my ability, it bothers me to no end to have to acknowledge that I am not a mechanic, but a mechanic of, mostly, USPCC cards lol. I learned certain foundational sleights on which I rely heavily with classic Riderbacks and Bees, and so the collection decks I use for magic typically NEED to be from Erlanger. It might sound absurd to some, but aspects like a card's thickness, its rigidity, its snap, the coarseness of its edges, the sound it makes when riffled, its surface glide (ty), etc. etc. etc., make an ENORMOUS amount of difference. When attempting something like the classic pass, I know by muscle memory that I need to apply x amount of pressure here and here, my fingers need to be precisely here and here, and my other fingers need to feel contact at a specific place on said fingers before doing another thing that requires the cards to move against one another. Any one variable changes that equation drastically.

However, I thoroughly enjoy re-learning how to perform certain moves using "foreign" materials. It has made me think a little more deeply about sleights, sometimes leading to workarounds that work just for me. It's spiced up my relationship with card magic and I am thankful for that. All this to say that I cannot wait to feel Maestro.

I know what time for me this will be available today. Just only one deck this time. Maybe three.

MAESTRO III will be available to the general public next week.
The number 3 in the name indicates that it’s the 3rd version of the finish but also something else which is a secret. 8-) The deck is on purpose simple looking as I wanted the main focus to be on the handling.

I love how designers like Lotrek use words like "simple" and it's a back design that's seldom used, with his own touch and may actually work well for cardistry flourishes. Just like how his 'Less' deck still has more details and touches than anyone else's minimal decks.
