If this doesn't bring walrus back to the forums, I don't know what will...

Also, if this doesn't have a walrus joker, I will be thoroughly disappointed.

What's with Theory11 suddenly goes for music world? Hmmm that we never know, but what we do know is that, they never fail to disappoint for the tuckbox designs

Hmmm, three different colors.... and then....

Chances are, there is going to be a 4th edition and it's going to be blue. And chances are, these 4 decks are either, be released step-by-step, or released all together. If it's the latter, it's possible for the options of getting just one, or getting all 4 and possibly in a box set.

PS: The photo of the Beatles with the colored costume is found by Kyle of Diesel Illusions. I can't tag him since he blocked me for no reasons

Was kinda thinking they might try to make the Kings look like the Beatles and the Queens like their respective wives, but I guess not.

Not sure what cupcakes have to do with the Beatles, but whatevs.

Picture the Flop or the Turn or the River
With tangerine pips and marmalade belt buckles
Somebody calls you, now you're pot committed
A girl with round, pinwheel-shaped spectacles

Playing card flowers of yellow and green (and white and orange)
Fitting right into your hand
Look for the girl with the pinwheels for eyes
And she's gone

Lucy is the Queen of Diamonds
Lucy is the Queen of Diamonds
Lucy is the Queen of Diamonds
Ahhhh

Follow her down past the Big Blind and Small Blind
You're under the gun and your bluff didn't work
Everyone watches as you stare the girl down
Who shows an inscrutable smirk

You show her your cards and she shows you hers
She takes the big pot away
Look at the space where your chips used to be
And they're gone

These are a lot of fun and a nice follow-up to the Grateful Dead project. I wish all the courts had the same illustration style of the Kings but it seems they go to more of an altered standard court for the Queens and Jacks rather than the whimsical illustrations of the four music legends. Also, those backs are....fine? Overall, this will be a fine deck to own, though I am not compelled to get all four colors of the same artwork.

If the box is made of very wood, and there is a magnet, and all of the pizzas, then it might worth 60$. But no… this is probably similar to Jerry’s Nugget’s and Ravn’s brickbox paper material. The box is a collector’s trap

Not my type but I do know someone that is a BIG Beatles fan. I 100% know they would love this (even though they do not collect playing cards). They'll especially would love the box set and use it as their center display piece. What a conundrum here... Would be a perfect gift set for the holidays but do I want to spend $99+ for this person? hmmm decisions decisions...

Edit: From the site: "The box is wrapped in intricate, elegant design on almost every surface - and sealed with a magnetic closure. Handcrafted in the USA using FSC-certified paper."

I don't like the Beatles (I know, how dare I?). So I would be on the fence if this were just one deck. I want one deck even less knowing that there are three other decks out there (being a completest and all). And a $100 box set just pushes me right off the fence. I can't wait for T11 to license a band I'm actually passionate about.

Technically the box is made of wood. It's heavily processed wood though 😅

I mean you can't say that and NOT mention a band you're actually passionate about...give us all something to go by at least haha.

It's so funny having produced playing cards to hear the community say things like "ugh, I love the back design but the courts are standard" or "custom courts BUT the courts are repetitive" and now on this deck with completely customs courts BUT "I wish all the courts had the same illustration style of the Kings".

I've said it before, but the truth is, nobody will design the deck YOU want unless YOU design it yourself....and again, I encourage you to do so!!!

Only chiming in because actually do think this deck is incredible and the box set is hand made in the US and not outsourced. As a collector of playing cards for over 15 years, I purchased the box set and it will be going into my collection.

These however will not:

If we’re talking in general about a collector’s deck, rather than one mostly meant to be used for magic or card games, then saying that it has standard or repetitive courts or inconsistent style all seem like valid critiques to me. There are plenty of decks released on Kickstarter each month that don’t suffer from these or any other obvious major issues, and usually at least one which is fairly strong in every category. One doesn’t need to design a deck in order to get quality cards in their collection, and neither does one need to be a designer in order to comment on the perceived shortcomings of decks designed by others.

Regarding this particular box set, if the cardboard box itself is worth 150% the cost of the actual decks to you because its made in the US rather than elsewhere in the world, that’s a valid personal choice, but as others have implied, it seems more like a brazen cash grab to me, designed to make completionists feel like they’re missing something if they only purchase the decks and charging them through the nose to alleviate that feeling.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.
