Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
I find it to be unexpected. I don't ever remember the Bicycle site gouging prices like this. $50, maybe. Even $75. But $150? Not a chance, for me anyway.

$30 per deck for standard decks? ridiculous. but but but they are numbered and have a box that cost 97 cents.

After $250 for a single cherry casino deck? This kind of thing doesn't shock me any more

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
Thanks for sharing the link. For $150, that is a wide pass for me. I just am not interested in either of the special merger decks. I am sure it is a great prize for those that attended the merger event where they were handed out. For $25 less, I'd much rather a have an Odd box with nine odd decks designed by Lorenzo, which includes three gilded decks in it.HFMJ wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 7:57 am https://bicyclecards.com/product/uspc-s ... et/#filter
150$ for the set.
I ordered one.
What do you think about the price?

Why do I feel a sleight feeling of regret? Maybe it s a sign I shouldn't have pulled the trigger on this one... You learn something every day.
I think I considered the red deck to have a special historical significance

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
Near as I can tell, seems they priced the Celebration deck at ~$125-130 (given the other decks retail at maybe $15-17). That was too steep for me, but if you like the deck and its worth it to you, don't dampen your joy. It does mark a historic time (in more ways than one). If the purchase was based on future value, who knows? Given, what the United/Celebration combo had been going for, Im sure you could unload to get your money back pretty easy and maybe a bit more. In time, I dont know that I would expect it to increase substantially, but I reserve the right to be wrong.

this is why i treat my card collection as a collection of decks of cards that i personally like not as a second stock market.

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
This might sound crazy but if anyone wants to buy the set and keep the red deck I would be willing to buy the other 4 decks and box from you so you can get some of your money back. Pm me if interested. It would be perfect as I am not interested in the red deck. Mike

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
Or, what if you bought the whole set, and then sold the red deck at cost + shipping?msp062 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:57 am This might sound crazy but if anyone wants to buy the set and keep the red deck I would be willing to buy the other 4 decks and box from you so you can get some of your money back. Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
Yes, I thought of that. My fear is that the demand for the red deck is not what I expect. They released 1750 sets and they have not sold out yet. With exchange rate and shipping delay to Canada I didn’t want to take the risk of the high expense and then not be able to sell the red deck for cost. Luckily I was able to work out a deal with someone.

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
If you ask me it's because Cartamundi got greedy with their pricing on these. I would have bought these, hands down if the price was reasonable.

You've mispelled USPCC. Cartamundi owns USPCC, but they still operates on their own.

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
Just to advise any of you that are on the fence about buying these, is that the individual decks themselves are not numbered at all, only the back of the collection box is listed with the limited number out of 1,750.

Just a quick reminder that if anyone bought this 5 deck set specifically to get the red deck, I would be willing to buy the black and white decks off of you, please PM me if interested. Mike

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
I was able to sell off my Celebration 2020 deck and decided to open some of the Black decks that came with the USPC set. I'm not sure what I was expecting. I'm posting here to save you all the trouble.
The embossed tucks on the decks are about the only nice thing worth noting.
The Ace of Spades and Jokers are correct for each of the brands. The Aristocrat deck has the darker red that is common on casino cards. All the decks have the same ad cards.
The first ad card is a black double-backer (same both sides) featuring the deck's back design
The second ad card, is possibly the stupidest ad card I've ever seen. It advises that you can buy more Thin Crushed decks on BicycleCards.com, and shows the 4 decks which are unavailable (as of now) outside of the $150 set:

Thank you for sharing. Indeed very disappointing. I'm glad I decided to pass on the set and did funnel my funds towards Christmas presents.

Re: Cartamundi & USPCC 2020 Merger Celebration Decks
I was poking around today and saw Bicycle's online shop is having a Moving Sale and giving 25% off most items on their shop with coupon code MOVE25.
That brings this USPC set from $150 down to $112.50 with free US shipping.

It's still pricey for what it is. With the red Celebration deck going for $80-$100 on eBay, this at least values the 4x black decks more reasonably.

Boy do I wish I could find them on cardtopia.com. Do you have a link? Or was it a limited sale? If so, I thought I would have received an email about it...

You had to have been at the physical location. They sold them at a limit of 5 per if I understood correctly. Some retailers sold a few after the event.

And here I thought Cardtopia was just an online store. That'll teach me to read the full emails! USPCC should have a TL;DR.kevork wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 3:12 amYou had to have been at the physical location. They sold them at a limit of 5 per if I understood correctly.
