Some updates

Someone on /r/playingcards says...
Next year, hes changing it up, and the Std,Lmt, and gilded subs, that he does, will switch to bi monthly, and the table players is switching to monthly; that gives him 2 months to do a deck, so I'm thinking next year will be a LOT better.
One of the decks will be Romeo and Juliet, in February 2022
Jackson has been preparing and designing the artwork for the Romeo & Juliet deck he plans to have as a subscription deck in February of next year.

And there are new leather brick and half-brick boxes, these look quite nice, would love to know who makes them :ugthink:
These new storage boxes are covered in high-quality PU Leather and lined with soft black velvet to keep your decks in pristine condition. There are also spacers within the brick box that keep all of your stored decks tightly in place. The lid features a strong magnetic closure.

This is true. Based on his Youtube lives, he is also making one-way and two-way courts for different versions of the R+J deck.
I've spent way more than I care to admit on playing cards, but I'll still buy just about anything that Lorenzo, Jackson, or Gio make.

I was going to jump on the Legal Tender jigsaw puzzle Kickstarter at the last minute, but the shipping price to me was shockingly bad (i.e. more than the cost of the single pledge). It's a great idea and I'm otherwise very up for supporting Jackson and the team, but AU$120 for a jigsaw puzzle (all told) is bordering on ridiculous.

You can probably blame most of that on the outrageous shipping prices these days. It's why Jackson has moved away from printing decks with EPCC unless he has to. It's gone from a few hundred $ to reserve a single shipping container from China to over $20k.

I understand that shipping costs have exploded globally in the last couple of years, but AU$63 to ship a jigsaw is egregious.

Unfortunately, that isn't something you have to worry about anymore, and for the foreseeable future as all US post has been suspended going into Australia.

I'll assume that the suspension of mail going to Australia is largely due to CoVID-19-related constraints. However, as a former business owner myself (we manufactured custom domed product labels), I can attest that doing business in Australia is so very, very needlessly annoying and expensive. Import restrictions are ridiculous, as is the cost of shipping, etc. I really feel for our friends in Australia who want products that are made elsewhere. <shudder>

I'm not saying it's exclusively your fault Jackson, it's a necessary evil for me. I'm just railing against living in the ass end of the world where it seems we're being taken advantage of, doing little else but subsidising others. It's the [censored] worst kind of 'Australia tax' around. Would be nice to catch a break somewhere down the line. Shipping costs are always a big factor in what I back/purchase from abroad. I'm just tired of explaining to US friends particularly who ask "why didn't you buy/back <<this>?" Invariably this answer is "because I had to pay $x in shipping".

And it's slightly fallacious to say that "all post has been suspended going to Australia". It's more "we'll put it on a plane when we can". It's very hit and miss right now. Last year I had an order of cards take 6 weeks to get from Chicago to San Francisco. Earlier this year stuff friends sent from the Midwest 'in time' for my birthday (6 week ago) hasn't arrived; while friends in another Eastern Sea Board city posted a larger parcel 3 weeks later and it got here in 10 days.

Unfortunately, it's not false at all, and exactly what I said. The USPS website announced the ALL mail going to Australia is suspended and all mail that is currently in the system will be returned to the sender, of which I have already started receiving returned packages that have a bright red sticker on them that say "Mail Service Suspended" It may have been the "We will put it on the plain when we can" but this week it is "We aren't putting it on the plain at all"

9/15/2021 Update: The USPS has temporarily suspended Priority Mail International shipments to Australia as of September 17, 2021.
USPS is offering other options. Wonder just how much more are these recommended options comparatively to the usual 1st class price? At this rate, would a freight forwarding service be a better option now for Aussies?

Alternate Delivery Options to Australia
If you have a shipment you need to send to Australia during this suspension period, we recommend the following options:

• UPS International Shipping – get discounted rates up to 76% off with no peak surcharge

• USPS Priority Mail Express International – get discounted rates up to 7% off Post Office rates

• GlobalPost International Standard – Get door-to-door tracking capabilities to over 200 countries

What is GlobalPost International Standard?
GlobalPost International Standard uses a network of postal carriers which provides a similar service to First Class Package International Service at a lower rate. If you don’t see GlobalPost International Standard as an option in your Stamps.com shipping software, contact Customer Care at 1-888-434-0055 (open Monday to Friday, 6 am to 6 pm PT) to request access to GlobalPost carrier services

Subscription sign up dates

Nov 1 - Nov 21: Existing subscriber sign ups so you can keep your sub number
Dec 1 - Dec 7: Existing wait list sign ups if you're already on the wait list
Dec 8 - Dec 15: New wait list sign ups for people who signed up on the new sub website
Dec 16 and on: Remaining slots opened to everyone else

I hope we will see what the subscription will be all about. The No 13 club will I guess replaces the Shorts sub says it's 6 decks. Are they going to continue doing book boxes? Are they continuing to use EPCC and Mr. Playing Cards, or will they lean into USPCC more since there's more time to produce less decks? What is the pricing going to be for each tier. I hope we get some of these questions answered before sign-ups so we know what we are singing up for. (Also I hope I got all the dates right above, someone please correct me if there's some mistake.)

The new structure and pricing for next year subscriptions:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=x7e_ZWG8buA&feature=share
At about minute 31 the presentation of the subs start.
It is kind of a bummer that there won't be a standard for Table Players and Vintage Reimagined. I probably would have bought them, but at 30$ a deck, I most likely will not get them...

Bummer indeed. Why should I pay $20 more, for a deck he has the least design work to do for?
Table Players $30 is a joke, too. Wasn't Table Players supposed for... well to be used by players?

Thanks rouselle for pointing out the pricing on the gilded decks. Frankly, I was expecting the cost of the limited and gilded decks to remain the same. Boy, was I wrong. I can only guess that all of the gilded #13 decks next year are going to be in the fancy boxes. I am not sure that justifies the huge jump in price though. I am going to have to rethink this maybe. I guess since the number of decks in a year gets cut in half, I am "saving" money over the year..... I do miss the slight discount I used to get in ordering the standard subscription decks at $12 instead of $15. It is little things like that which hurt a bit...Yeah, I am in for all three versions of the #13 Club. I can't drop them.

I think we will see book boxes for these decks, yes. I also believe he will be going with USPCC a lot more this year, mostly because shipping prices and times from China are just not worth it. Of course that means no foil in these decks this year.

I know he remade the tuck layout so we get a side-opening tuck for USPCC decks, and we don't end up with another Peter Pan situation. I doubt he will be going with Mr. PC for any sub decks, but probably for some independent releases.

Ooof. I'm a KWP fan, but this may be a bit too steep for me. Given the aftermarket prices for his stuff, it makes sense to want to reclaim some of that value. But, Im going to have give a rethink. I'll probably get the No. 13 standard to stay in the 'family' and look to the intermittent drops of interest. I like TP, but not at $30.

I hope we get some confirmation of that from kwp. I hate hate hate the foil on most of the recent decks. I think it looks tacky and it bows the cards. Also the cards have a bad smell when they're printed by EPCC probably because of their finish. I'd love it if they moved to USPCC for all their no 13 decks. Might even try to get a limited slot instead of a standard sub.
