Yeah they're both USPCC. Mostly because he isn't foiling either of them I think.Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:28 am Jackson normally doesn't use USPCC for the tucks though anyways. Plus aren't Shorts printed by EPCC?
Did he switch for Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland back to USPCC? Would be splendid news. Not that I mind other printers but I don't like bowed cards like the OZ deck.

Sherman Tank is USPCC
Peter Pan is USPCC
Alice In Wonderland will be Mr. Playing Card
A Pirates Carol will most likely be Mr. Playing Card as well.

Another Alice in Wonderland card from this morning's King's Wild Live. Jackson hopes to finish the deck this week.

USPCC has done side opening tucks before. Some examples are the Espionage deck and the Black Book of Cards deck.EvilDuncan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:23 amI don't know the reason for it, but the USPCC-printed decks are all top opening. Well, I’ll be! There is a USPCC deck with a sideway tuck opening. It is possible! Though that depends on Jackson’s design of the tuckbox for Alice in Wonderland

First KWP deck in a while that I've liked a lot (although still not a deck you can really play cards with).
Does anyone know Mr. Playing Card as a manufacturer and if they are any good? Kind of a weird name for a card company and unusual to choose a name that has the same initials as an already established playing card manufacturer. Ah well.

I've heard several good reviews of their overall feel, but I've also heard some people complain about them as well (I don't remember the specifics), so maybe it depends on the person.

The shorts deck "The Cut" was Mr. Playing Cards, I believe, and I think the new "Made in USA" deck was, too.

The Mr. Playing Card decks feel great overall. They handle for crap tho, and I have noticed that the edges of the decks made by them also arent finished as well as other decks. But at least the registrations are decent....EvilDuncan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 7:19 amI've heard several good reviews of their overall feel, but I've also heard some people complain about them as well (I don't remember the specifics), so maybe it depends on the person.

Re: KWP Shorts - Alice In Wonderland
I've been pretty disappointed in the quality of the Mr Playing Card decks. The edges aren't finished well, they handle poorly and just generally feel "cheap". The designs are still great, but the card quality specifically has been poor for those decks. I get that he was getting behind, with all the delays from USPCC and the like, and needed a manufacturer who could deliver quickly, but I'd rather have the cards arrive late. I'm gonna cancel before the month for the Alice deck. Perhaps he'll have them reprinted next year by EPCC or USPCC, I'll buy it then if that happens.Strag wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 5:17 am First KWP deck in a while that I've liked a lot (although still not a deck you can really play cards with).

Re: KWP Shorts - Alice In Wonderland
I think the reason he's been going with Mr. Playing Card recently is (in addition to them having quick turnaround) that shipping costs are just astronomical these days, not to mention the delays, when printing with EPCC in China. Also, due to the long shipping time, decks with foil like OZ are warping in the humid air (though Alice does not have foil on the cards, only the tuck).
Also, these decks are certainly made just for the art and collecting, so handling is probably secondary in Jackson's mind.
However, you'll be pleased to know Jackson mentioned in a stream recently that he plans to submit these to USPCC. They told him if he can have them submitted by the end of the week, they'll be ready for the November ship date.

Also, Jackson recolored the back designs depending on the edition (standard, limited, gilded), so now the cards are not all the same between all editions.

Hooray for recolours...
I quite liked the honesty of having all cards the same.

Re: KWP Shorts - Alice In Wonderland
I do agree that most recolors these days are unnecessary, but personally I think with Jacksons 3 tier model it adds some needed differentiation between the decks. I have seen some complain in the past that they were all the same cards every time with just a tuck swap and gilding.

As someone who gets all three versions every month (standard, limited, gilded), any extra differentiation in the actual cards between the versions is appreciated. I have just come to expect they are the same designs, just different packaging.

Agreed, charging double or triple for a tuck swap and then gilding was a bit much. Especially when some of the tucks are quite plain, e.g. Gold Certificate etc.

Yea he said that he wanted the backs to be different (which I think is a good idea, but people will still be unhappy lol) and having the ability to meet the turnaround needed for that makes Mr.PC essential it sounds likeEvilDuncan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 8:44 am Also, Jackson recolored the back designs depending on the edition (standard, limited, gilded), so now the cards are not all the same between all editions.

Different colour backs are still the same as tuck swaps - cash grabs just with an added layer of deception. Marketing psychology at its best .

Hummm, don't know why you would say that, but different color backs are completely different than tuck swap... Different color back mean a new print run... As tuck swap is just the same print run..Harvonsgard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:31 am Different colour backs are still the same as tuck swaps - cash grabs just with an added layer of deception.
