I've been waiting for a deck by Luke that grabs my attention. I think I'm looking at my first Wadey decks.

From the IG pics, this is what you would call a custom deck designed for cardistry in mind yet still easily recognizable for gameplay and usable for magic tricks if you want. This would make a good reference deck for new designers without a cardistry following (and also for brands like A1! :D )

Sorry A1 fans, couldn't resist. Zach and Alex have upped their deck design game while A1 has either cut their old designs in 1/2 and pasted it over another old design or just added more recolors.

It's just a snipe as I can't get over A1 actually cutting and pasting 2 old designs into one.

I should have added that I actually like A1WW's headlong into eternity and runaway world. So much so that I scoured the net to find the Headlong deck after I missed it. But those are few compared to their Cap, Logo, Flag designs.

Indeed a cutting event, a sharp observer might say. And yes, I love Split, haha.

Back to Luke; I'm still Wadeyless in my collection and I don't see RPM changing that, but a black version of that white back design would be interesting to see πŸ€”.
I doubt it would change my liking though. I guess I grab that deck he released prior (what was the name? With a lot of text on them?) as the Luke deck that I feel the most.

I'm glad to see this do well and I'm in for one gilded white deck and an "upgraded" black deck, but man these are pricey! Very strange reward tiers too, being focused only on the black deck

Yeah, the tiers are strange.

I commented on the campaign page about having a "standard" deck and the Onyx deck with an "upgraded tuck," but having the Onyx deck as the lowest tier and being unable to get the standard without having to get both. There has been nothing like this in any of Luke's standalone campaigns, so I would doubt it if it was his decision to organise it like this.

This isn't really a business model I want to support. Locking "collector's" editions behind paywalls is one thing, but standard editions?

I saw Luke mention somewhere (probably Patreon) that the tiers were designed by Doc's / LIT, not him

Yeah, Luke’s in the comments saying he’s messaged Docs to see if they can change some things. We’ll see. I know Luke will do whatever he can to help his backers but I’ve never delt with Docs before. The tiers definitely don’t make sense. I’m in though!

This project was just cancelled. Luke commented saying they had listened to feedback, and wanted to restructure the tiers to make it more accessible to more people, and maybe have separate campaigns for each color.

As I see it Luke is the only one who listened to feedback as I don't think I saw a single comment from Doc, even when I asked him a question on his Facebook post about two minutes after he posted it.

Two different campaigns for a recolour? That seems silly and not particularly International backer friendly. I mean yeah, fix the tiers but sheesh don't make separarate campagins when you just don't need to.

Luke’s definitely been much better at responding to questions and engaging with backers. He said Doc would be putting out an update soon so hopefully we get some more information then.

It’s slightly more than a recolour, the decks also have different backs. But I do see your point. I’d personally prefer it if they did both together again.

Yeah I didn't pay much attention to the campaign as this style doesn't really resonate to me. That said... I took a look at the campagin and only a single backer update 10 days in sure seems odd.

In any case, even after a second look I don't think it's a particularly exciting deck of cards.

this seems to be the best deck he has done, imo, and i still wouldnt buy it. uninspired tucks. faded standard courts with a circle border. decent looking back design, sort of. not for me.
