Missed Intrepid and the other limited tiers, well I did get an EB. Oh well. I'll live. I already have a framed Quartermaster.

Me too. I could feel my heart pounding trying to get one in time.

The quartermaster tier lasted a bit longer than I thought it would.
I've spent way more than I care to admit on playing cards, but I'll still buy just about anything that Lorenzo, Jackson, or Gio make.

Damn, that is one expensive book. Lorenzo, can I ask about the reason you chose to make the book kickstarter exclusive? I’m assuming that’s what makes it expensive, not being mass-produced.

When it launched I rushed and backed top tier just to be sure I could get whatever I wanted lol then once I was sure I'd get it I was able to actually read tiers and downgrade to the QM one (which was the real goal for me)

Apparently there is an issue in that there were supposed to be only 130 QMs pledges but somehow there are 132 backers. I wonder how that can happen? Pledges coming in so quickly that it if they come in very close to one another the KS system can't catch it?

I think that's exactly right. Multiple people pledging at the exact same second and Kickstarter is unable to determine who was first, so both get it

Snagged a Quartermaster thankfully and added an extra trio. The last part of the pledge screen was stuck so long that I thought it was completely frozen and then when I tried to load another one the first attempt went through.

Yeah the QM was sold out for me at 6.03am - got the email to prove it. Upset that I had it on the "confirm card" screen but couldn't pay for it. But them's the breaks. Got the EB Gunner, so can't be to vociferous in my complaint.

I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't secretly want Lorenzo to do a full print run of the QM but I know that's not really in the spirit of things. While I rarely engage with the secondary market I'd definitely think about it.

portculis, welcome to the EB Master Gunner tier. Honestly, aside from the rarity and slight changes in the back design, the three main decks are going to be the same cards and printed on better stock with more cool tuck cases. I wouldn't be fussed about missing the Quartermaster besides the rarity of the deck.

I was just stunned by the number, speed and ferocity of the sharks in the water snapping up everything in site. It was like a cow getting gnawed to the bone in a couple of seconds by a huge school of hungry piranhas.

You do you of course, but that is exactly why people snag as much as they can, as fast as they can. So, all you're doing is feeding the frenzy with that. Just my two sun/moon coins...
Of course one can always counter with resellers being able to always find a buyer anyways but yah, playing the game or refrain to do is the question.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

@Harvosgard: Yeah, I know. I don't buy regularly on *that* secondary market site (I've done it maybe 3 times in 5+ years). I always try going to the artist first. Regrettably that won't be possible this time, so the former might be my only option.

(Knowing full well what HotRS went for on the secondary market site, a) I'm glad I got in on that campaign and b) the QM might be my Christmas present to myself)

@Brad: As I said I'm just annoyed I got it to the "confirm card" page and the site wouldn't let me pay for it. Happy I got the EB Gunner tho.

Cards are exceptional, but the main reason why I backed this project (Master Gunner) is the book! :ugking:

Agree the book is pretty sweet. Hopefully this fulfillment isn't as plagued as HotRS

First Kickstarter that I've backed in a long time.

In fact, it's the first one since Stories (that I still have not received).

It's the...eye of the ocean,
It's the thrill of the sea
Rising up to the challenge of our pledges....
And the last known backer
Pledges under the line
While the rest of us wonder if weeeee...
Should add the book on....

Love the coin, I'm getting one.

Hi guys, sorry for not being active. I was a LITTLE busy with the campaign.

So, About the book, why is it so expensive?
Because on top of the cost to write the novel written by professional hand - which I did not even count - the book features:
  • A leather cover with debossed graphics.
A 70mm in diameter astrolabe attached on it
A custom cutout for the deck (approx half book)
    Sewn binding
    Expensive high quality paper
    Color print on all pages
Layout design work, not just copypaste of text and all the pages are the same
A bookmark in letterpress with signature
The fact that I produce around 1000 units so far, not 50.000+ copies.
An interactive puzzle is included with the package.
I understand that in a bookstore you pay a regular book between $5 up to $25, but it is the total opposite of the one I am offering :)
So, not just the fact that is limited to a relatively low number. The materials are expensive and high quality.
It is more or less like gilding, it does not matter if I gild 10 or 10000 decks, the unit cost is the same.

You can look at the extract on the kickstarter page, there is a link to the pdf.

By the way, thank you so much for backing the project, it is going very well :)
And sorry again if I am not active here.
cheers
Lorenzo

I think this is a fantastic way to cover the limited edition of the QM deck, feel like there's been a few creators who would have benefited from doing something like this when people got super cranky about missing out on a LE

As immersed as Lorenzo is with this campaign, I can't believe he didn't call this the "Dinghy" deck instead of the mini deck. Either way, I picked up a few of these little bites of the ocean. :ugdance:
