Twenty Twenty Playing Cards by Marvelous Decks

Unread post by vasta41 »

Trying to come up with an idea for creating a card deck that would be fun, memorable, and collectible, we couldn’t think of a better subject than the year 2020: those twelve months when the entire world was turned upside down.

So, as a tribute––a physical memorial, we created this deck to commemorate a year that tried our planet.

When it came to illustrating the historical year, while mourning for the pain and loss of our fellow humans across the planet, we wanted to focus on the bright lights of the 12 months that tested us all.

Printed by USPCC. The gilded decks are sold out but the regular decks are available here: https://www.marvelousdecks.com/product/ ... ngle-deck/ for about $21 each, including shipping in the US (which is $8 for some reason...).

$29 for an average looking deck? No thanks. This should cost like $15 with shipping included

Regular decks are $13 as far as I can see. There still isn't enough here to justify a purchase for me. Nice boxes though.

This deck is super odd to me which, I can respect. I like the tuck box, too. Gives me a weird, old school graphic novel kinda vibe.
I'm glad the gilded decks got to their new homes already, because with all that sparkle I wouldn't want one, not even as a gift but it seems like that is what marvelousdecks is all about - the sparkle, the shine, the bling. Not for me but it sure has fans.
$20.20 (lel) for a gilded USPCC (is it USPCC? I didn't found info on the side but it might be a loading issue - so I took vasta's word for it) deck is pretty good, imo. Even some random gilded Bikes are more expensive than that.

I got that info from P52 but after watching this (8th min.):

...I realize P52 is wrong. They're printed by Shuffled Ink out of Orlando, FL. Glad I didn't buy these. Sorry for the misinformation.

No apology needed since, it's the seller's duty to properly address the tech specs of their product on their website. It shouldn't be on our watch to do that. Thanks for the clarification nonetheless.

That of course sheds a different light on the prices, which I still would consider somewhat okay then. Not good deals - but okayish.

Gotta be honest. I ordered two “red” standard decks. When they arrived I was beyond disappointed to find that it was not told at the time of release that all the cards in both the blue and red decks are blue and grey. I ordered red decks thinking I’d get red cards but nope.

Yet another misleading spec about this deck. I'm glad I didn't get any now.

You know, I did wonder why there were no pictures of the red deck. Now we know; there isn't one

Thanks for reporting!

That is one of the reasons I mostly never get decks early these days. Downside of this is that you might miss out on hype decks, but it saves me quite money and disappointments. I love to have every information about the deck as clear as possible on the table before making a descision.
Unfortunately quite a bunch of deck releases are "mystery" hype marketed and all you get are glimpses and overproduced promo pictures.

Devil's advocate: creators know everything about their deck, so this bias of knowledge might give them a hard time to understand what is interesting to know from a costumer's perspective.
Tin foil head take: they actively hide infos and leave room for assumptions on purpose because they know barely someone sends decks back even when they're disappointed after they see what they pay for... 🤷🏿‍♀️

Thanks for the info. I was wondering who printed these. Got one deck for free alongside my doty reward from Kellar O'Neil. Fun little deck although I wouldn't buy it to be honest.
