UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
Hey guys,
There was a lot of love for last year's Manor of Wonder sale. This year's mystery deck sale is one I hope you will enjoy as well. It's super small mostly because it's extremely experimental. If response for this series goes well I may do an official run with all the doo-dads and stretch goals later on. The decks received in this year's mystery deck sale will be marked with some sort of mark to signify this prototype/1st test.
The series is inspired by Kintsugi which surrounds the idea of embracing our flaws and transforming them into growth rather than hiding them. To create a deck that embraced the individuality of our lives required an offering just as unique.
Each deck is one of a kind. Each deck has a completely unique print. Each deck has a completely unique foil pattern. Each deck is gilded.
Pictured are 4 test samples, enough to give you an idea. Each deck is meant to be as unique as you are.
This is a deck I wanted to create to give the owner something special to hold and call their own, almost like an achievement award for having survived 2020. When I think about mystery decks I want something surprising. Given that this series is not a wrapper or sticker on old decks, I believe those that want something special will find it in this series.
I'm making 250 of them and only 200 are available for public release. Limit 1 per customer. Sale split into (2) 100 slot windows Friday 11am & 11pm CST. Note: This is a pre-order. It is worth emphasizing this. I mentioned this in the NPCCD sale and got missed by a lot of people. The UNBROKEN series is estimated to ship Jan 30th.

I love the thought behind this project - very cool. What are you planning for pricing?

Who is printing these? Are all the cards the same with different tucks?

These look truly amazing, Alex, and I'm always impressed with the level of innovation and creativity you bring to your work. I especially like that dark blue one - beautiful. Now I guess I'll have to see if I'm fast enough to actually get one...

Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
My guess would be MPC since A) it's a real small print run and B) he's used them in the past.

Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
Price? My guess $65-$75.
I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

Alex did say the cards will be printed by MPC. Price I'm assuming will be 65-75 as well. He did say gilding may/may not become an option though when I asked him about it.

Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
I think that's a fair price to pay for a prototype/one of a kind deck. I have been very happy with what he has been able to do with his decks using MPC, so I am excited to hopefully get one. I cannot wait to see when members on here start posting their decks to see what they get!irtjames14 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 1:03 pm Alex did say the cards will be printed by MPC. Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
Alex, you are a very humble guy! I'm not sure what you mean when you say "IF the response goes well." We all know you'll sell these out in 20 seconds at 11am and maybe 25 seconds at 11pm. So I'll sit this one out and hope that your official run will be a little cheaper later on.IAmTheChin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:18 am If response for this series goes well I may do an official run with all the doo-dads and stretch goals later on.
Oh, and nice work as always!

Limit 1 per customer.
Is it a set of four and the limit is one set? Or are the different tuck designs and colors part of the uniqueness and the limit is one deck?

Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
The pricing will be $75 a piece given how labor intensive each deck is. Each deck is uniquely 1 of 1. In comparison to other decks in market I think it's extremely fair. Each deck is gilded. They will be printed with MPC.
I hope that helps clarify and excite things for people!
Thanks! I'm hoping the split windows make it a bit easier for both people's convenience and the site itself.HostileTraveler wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 10:50 am These look truly amazing, Alex, and I'm always impressed with the level of innovation and creativity you bring to your work. Haha thank you. I still always get nervous before a launch. I was referring to the reception of the theme itself and wasn't sure if people would be on board with the concept.
Yeah so I've been getting this question a lot and I don't blame you. It's not a Seasons launch if people aren't confused lol. EVERY deck being offered is a different and unique design. That means that if you order one, you will most likely not be getting any of the designs pictured but one completely new that you have not yet seen. The idea around this is that I wanted to create a deck that was as unique as you are which requires each design to be different. There are no "sets" in this but rather a complete experience in a single deck for yourself. I'm hoping this offering, especially in the Mystery Deck format, is liberating and exciting at the same time.
I hope that helps clarify and excite things for people!

Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
I am assuming when you say each deck is unique that you are referring to the tuck only, but all the cards will be the same. I am not a tuckist, so I am not as enthused as others who clearly are. I'm far more interested in what the back design will be and what the courts will look like. Depending on what the cards themselves look like, my enthusiasm may go way back up. Hopefully we'll be able to get a preview of the cards themselves in time for the launches.

I like the concept and heard of it before. I really do wanna see the actual cards before release too. 2 of the 4 I'm interested in.

I wasn't too fast, but managed to get one. They are sold out now, so they still went fast. I hope those that wanted one managed to pick one up.

I think the system only allowed one order per person. That is not to say someone might have had multiple accounts or had others purchase for them, but I doubt it. With only 100 for sale, it was sure to go fast.

Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
I hope cards don't go the PS5 route. To sell 100 decks in 20 seconds or less isn't surprising. Alex plans on doing an official version so we'll see. Not stressing since we can't see an example of the cards yet.

Re: UNBROKEN - Seasons Mystery Deck Sale
yeah it sold out was so fast (checked at 12:03 pm EST after I got mine), I doubt someone would have multiple session, accounts, etc. but I could be wrong (automation, scripts maybe). My heart was beating SO fast and I wish I had a fitbit HR to check how high it went right around at 11:58 am EST. I might get high BP this way if there are so many limited sales by the artists I follow and love.

Yeah, didn't Alex say if this 'experimental run' is successful he might do an official KS campaign.Bikefanatic wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 12:28 pm Alex plans on doing an official version so we'll see. Not stressing since we can't see an example of the cards yet.
