Mechanical Playing Card by Dale Mathis UPDATE..!
Here is an update on my Mechanical Playing Card. Just got the final relief in. Its made of Steel. The gears are Gold plated and yes its functional. I will have a link to see the video of the deck in action. I'm still set to launch this project on Kickstarter next month. Looking forward to its reception. I assume this will be the worlds first super embossed relief Tuck Box that's functional as well. In my campaign I will offer standard embossed tuck Box of the design, a metal relief and a plastic relief which will look like the metal version you see in the photos. This will give folks who may not be able to afford the high end versions a chance at being apart of the project. There will be more additions to this project so stay tuned. Check back soon.
Card Back Side.
Joker Card.
I used the Theory 11 Artisan Tuck Box as an example to showcase the mechanism.
Mechanical Poker Box kit.
Amber Rix precision Dice. A nice touch to this project. You can purchase these on Kickstarter. She is on her second campaign.
The Finished look after the gilding process (Silver leafing or in printing terminology, Foiling). After foiling then a patina is applied or sometimes referred to as weathering. This is done to give it a more realistic metal look. Its done simply by adding watered down black paint.
By turning the Bolt Clockwise, this turns the gears which engages a spring latch mechanism withing the face of the box causing the box to open.

Crazy sick, so you do every case/box by hand ?? How is the 'super embossed metal' attached to the tuck box ?

No I wont do every case/box by hand. I will have it outsourced. It will be glued to the surface of the Tuck Box.volantangel wrote:Crazy sick, so you do every case/box by hand ?? How is the 'super embossed metal' attached to the tuck box ?

Yes you can remove it from the Tuck Box but it will destroy the Box.DukeBoy wrote:Simply amazing. Will it be able to be removed from the box?

They will be produced on a production level. I don't have an exact amount of time associated with it yet.walrus wrote:Beautiful, how long does it take to produce one of these.

I really like it! If I can swing it, I'll probably get it. Would you be able to create a card sleeve, and attach it to that? So, the tuck box isn't destroyed.

As a fan of steampunk, this is right in my interest, if I can afford it with my meager finances...

new update via facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10 ... =2&theater" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Starting the beginning of October I will release a very special deck of Cards by The Art of Dale Mathis. The 1st of its kind, a 3D Metal and Mechanical Playing Card deck. Nothing like it has ever been done, at least from my knowledge. This deck of Cards will be offered for 30 days ONLY through the popular crowd funding website Kickstarter. After 30 Days of offering this amazing deck of cards, I will NEVER produce them again. So if you ever wanted a Dale Mathis original art piece but you were not part of the 1% of society who could afford one, here is your opportunity.
$25 is the starting price for a single deck. There are some amazing optional accessories to Add On to personalize and enhance your 3D deck experience.
This is my first Kickstarter project so I would GREATLY APPRECIATE you sharing this with everyone single person in your life to help me gain as much momentum in the 30 day window I have on Kickstarter. I thank you from the depths of my heart for your Help and support…!
Regards,
Dale Mathis
