SARDINES By Stacey Jay Kelly
Sharing my initial concept idea for "SARDINES (In Tomato Sauce)
I really love the cross over of Victorian meets Scandinavian designs on tinned fish. I think this will be a very fun project I can imagine the court designs as classic courts with fish faces and scales worked into their robes...
Perhaps a mischievous otter in a top hat and tails for the joker.
Still a rough concept but I like the style and colour so far. Any thoughts?

Re: SARDINES By Stacey Jay Kelly
Stellar, this is fun and I already love it. Diggin the vibe, diggin the fish grins, diggin the anchor, diggin the rope. I'm diggin on this, every bit of it. Couple quick things that strike me on the initial glance. I'd like to see the whole hook though rather than the eye being chopped. I'd also love to see, on what I assume is the tuck face, a slightly larger tomato with some sauce around them in a splat.. . because fun. I love the direction you're going in with this and I hope it becomes reality.
One question though, will there be some netting? A little netting? Perhaps a smidge.

I love this design. It's quirky and memorable! I love the tuck design and your color scheme is brilliant. I had a couple of nitpicky things regarding the card back. I know you still want to show the pull-tab, but the shape of the peeled top is a bit odd if you visualize it in a closed or laid-down position. Perhaps you can show more rolled metal and have part of the tab peeking out from the side of the roll? Like a broken border kind of thing? I would also love to see the underside of the metal top be silver, but neither of these are big issues. I can understand sticking with white for the color scheme. Can't wait to see more of this deck!

Re: SARDINES By Stacey Jay Kelly
Thanks for this it is very interesting feedback. Personally, the realism of the tab doesn't really bother me, perhaps I could roll it more but being mirrored it isn't realistic anyway. I am aiming to stick with a reduced colour scheme for this project and regarding the metallic gradient idea, personally, I am not a fan of gradients in this type of design and try to avoid them at all costs. I shall have a think about what to do because I know what you mean about the cream being a bit gleaming and the roll of the cut tin could be more obvious and realistic.BaconWise wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 1:38 pm I love this design. Re: SARDINES By Stacey Jay Kelly
The short tab can be explained by imagining that part of it is perpendicular to the box, so from the top down angle we see it from, it seems shorter than it actually is (see the attached professionally-made visual representation of said phenomenon).

That is a great explanation! And, might I say, your diagram is already better than half the KS projects I have seen this year. You've got a bright future in card design, TomMagikFingerz wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 7:46 pm The short tab can be explained by imagining that part of it is perpendicular to the box, so from the top down angle we see it from, it seems shorter than it actually is (see the attached professionally-made visual representation of said phenomenon).
