NOC v2

Unread post by Paul Middleton »

I'm guessing this image on HOPC's Facebook page means a V2 Noc? I'm not sure how much it could differ given that it's so minimal but I guess we'll see in a couple of weeks.

Hmm, my guess would be that the back will just be blank white, and all the pips and court figures in the entire deck will be a single color.

The image suggests it's the same five colours as far as I can tell.

Maybe they're pulling a Magic Makers Inc. and doing an inverse. Great, more color changes... :|

I hope it doesn't mean V2's. The NOC decks were fine for what they were, but making a V2 of such a simple deck is just lazy.

Agreed, I really liked the NOC deck. I dig the simplicity. As evidence the original LTD.is my favorite deck. Making a a V2 of the NOC is completely unnecessary.

On their Facebook page, they did say that people had asked for it, so they are making V2s due to popular demand. It would be nice if they made the colours on the courts that same colour as the back design or maybe change the colours of the face cards

I actually don't mind a v2 at all. I guess they're just freshening it up rather than printing more of v1.

I totally agree with this, if they are out of the original NOCs, why not make a couple of changes while they are at the reprint. These decks were made to be a daily use deck in any case.

Well, it isn't as if the original NOC stock was all that special anyway.

I just hope they make the borders thinner. Any other changes don't really matter to me for this deck.

HOPC stated that the changes in v2 are Thin Borders, simplified court cards, and a marking system. Also, where it says minimalistic playing cards on the front is now printed in white to make it easier to read. Releases tonight at 8pm eastern time.

What's wrong with the court cards ? They are simplistic which is kinda the point of the deck, no ?

Why did it have to be marked.
I really liked the v1 of these decks.
But I am a card player not a magician.
There are plenty of marked decks out there I don't think this type of deck needed that.
It also could make people who have heard that NOC decks are marked suspicious of v1 if they don't know the difference.
I have to say that is one of the most upsetting decisions by a card company in a while

I agree with both Utterfool and Anthony here. A marking system really wasn't necessary, and the court card colors aren't very pleasing to the eyes (not mine anyway). They could have just used single colors on the courts matching their respective backs.

Worse than that, it's also not of much use - as it's only the suit that's marked. I guess that's fine in limited situations - 'three card monte' type routines - but seems to sully the 'pure' and 'simple' aspects of this deck for minimal good effect

Got my NOC V2 a few days ago and the green deck was slightly damaged on the tuck box. Just want to give kudos to HOPC for promptly sending me a replacement green deck

From my own experience of TBC/HOPC - they've always been great at replacing lost or damaged items.
